QUALITY: Excellent Mono Soundboard
PERFORMANCE: This is a great concert by 1981 standards - it's very well worth listening through more than once. I wouldn't rank it among "my top 5 1981 shows" - but maybe among my top 10....which is quite high, since there were about 50 shows in US 1981. But who cares about "ranking"....please pardon those last sentences, ha ha
Anyway, the entire band has a lot of *energy* - but they're also in *control* of this energy, this night. So it's a treat.
COMMENTS: Unlike some other 1981 mono SBD shows, Cedar Falls has NOT been released by Empress Valley. Therefore, the DAC release is the "defintive version" of this recording. The quality of this Cedar Falls recording is quite above most of the 1981 SBD recordings, it's really a nice listen.

This show was squeezed into the tour between indoor dates. Cedar Falls Unidome was big enough to accommadate the Outdoor Stage. As far as I know this was the only tour date where the outdoor stage was used in an indoor arena. The Lamont Cranston Band from Minneapolis started the evening, followed by the Stray Cats.

It's always funny to me how some shows get reviewed... this show is so moderately complimented by the person posting it ("not in my top 5 1981 shows..."), but man, download this puppy and crank "Let's Spend The Night Together" and it will have you wondering what 5 shows from '81 could be better!!! :)
And the sound is stone-cold perfect... as good or better, in fact, than some other '81 Stones boots I have like Hartford Connecticut.
In short, don't hesitate if you love the Stones, get this one. Thanks, Dave!!
