Audioslave: Montreux 2005 (FM) FLAC

OU COMMENT: just came back from my trip to the montreux jazz festival, from the fantastic concert that audioslave gave last night, and YIPPEE!! my favorite live radio station, DRS 3 of Switzerland, already broadcasts this gem!
man, i've seen a lot of good live bands, but this was one hell of a rock show! the band was really surprised to find themselves playing on a normal tuesday night in front a crowd that rocked as there would be no tomorrow! whenever morello finished a solo, the listeners gave standing ovations like they were at a jazz concert (well, it's called Jazz Festival after all...) and cornell was accompanied by the giant audience choir during the accoustic Black Hole Sun. i think the band liked their playing there ;-)

Quality: Excellent, some minor diginoises.
Source: DRS 3 broadcast, july 6, 2005.
Lineage: Cable Radio > wave > flac
Editing: edited and normalized with wavelab. a major radio talkover before Black Hole Sun was cut out, some minor station tags were not edited to preserve a maximum of sound material.

Completeness: not complete, at least two or three songs are missing at the end, especially Killing In The Name Of. there's also missing the nice little story when cornell entered the stage before the Black Hole Sun encore and gave away his mic to a fan in the front row as a gift.
Running Time: 85 min. (should fit onto a 90 minutes CD-R).
md5 checksums included. no artwork but i include a pic of tom morello which i took with my handy.

OU: A thousand thanks to the source who generously supplied this disc. The source tried and tried to get the first disc, but it just wasn't to be. I guess half is better than none.
The annual school benefit show, first for Rumson Country Day School and then for the Ranney School, has become legendary among Bruce fans as the attendance is restricted to parents and staff of the schools and a recording has never surfaced of even one show. Now we have this recording, a soundboard of the second half of the April 10, 2005, show. While the first three years of these shows featured a majority of covers, the 2005 show, much like the Harry's holiday shows from the previous December, shifted focus to mostly Springsteen originals. This recording features a great stretch of music starting with Darlington County and going through Shake, with a great cover of Bad Moon Rising in the middle. Southside Johnny sits in on four songs on this disc, starting off with the two of the greatest songs ever to come out of the Jersey Shore: The Fever and I Don't Wanna Go Home.
And the sound quality of this one is absolutely amazing, as it's sourced straight from the soundboard. Pristine is the word that comes to mind in describing this one. There was no reason at all to touch this one up at all. Apart from re-tracking the original disc, nothing else was done.

OU: The recent invite-only London gig showcasing Magic Time, Van Morrison's new album, attracted many leading music journalists, including Andy Kershaw, the highly-regarded BBC Radio 3 presenter.
Kershaw reviewed the gig/album on his Radio 3 show last night, playing Just Like Greta. In a nutshell, Kershaw loved the gig.
"But last night's performance of Magic Time confounded any low expectations induced by studying the lyrics too minutely. The set was stuffed with engaging arrangements. Some world-class singing (Morrison's voice is in great shape) and lively musicianship contributed to an impressively strong gig, with not a few highlights. Lesson: you can't judge a song by its lyrics."

The 18th February gig at Columbus' PromoWest Pavillion got canceled (why?) but before it they still went to the Radio Station CD101's "Big Room" to promote it.
The 26th May gig was a make-up date, again they're promoting the concert at the station's studio. Both sets are acoustic and the sound quality is excellent with very little static noise. Guys, it ain't easy to sing early in the morning with a frog in your throat. But hey! I'd like to thank Pepsi... it's a Cola, cheers!
