Tommy Bolin: Outtakes and Demos 1976 (Studio) FLAC

1
Private Eyes Outtakes, demos and rehearsals 1976
source: studio outtakes and demos
length: 52.20
quality: varying from A to B, most of it sounds pretty darn good

Here´s another gem. I got 19 tracks in total, many of which were simply shite. I´m sure everybody recalls the early 90´s when people started "karaoke"-ing studiosongs, i.e. trying to bury the vocals whilst enhancing portions of the music/instruments. Some cd-players even had a button for this. True, the overall emphasis changes which makes some stuff which might be buried in the mix more prominent, but it´s still just the regular studioversion of the song. In any case some people liked to tape such tampered songs and call them "demos", and this disk had a bunch of those. All those tracks were sorted out from here and disposed of, and I tried my best to find the remaining tracks on any official releases. No such tracks were found.
I love these, especially the haunting Sweet burgundy and the naked Hello, again. Oh, I let tracks 12 and 13 stay on even though I cannot say for sure that they were part of these sessions, maybe someone here recognizes them?

1. You told me that you love me
* Instrumental, totally different guitarparts.
2. Shake the devil
* Outtake, diff. mix, longer ending
3. Sweet burgundy
* Outtake, no guitar, different vocals
4. Hello, again
* Outtake, guitar and vocals only, no strings overdubbed
5. Gypsy soul
* Outtake, almost 40 seconds longer outro
6. Gypsy soul
* demo, acoustic guitar + vocals
7. Gypsy soul
* rehearsal/demo, two guitars + bass
8. Bustin´ out for Rosey
* demo, different vocals
9. Someday will bring our love home
* instrumental demo
10. Someday will bring our love home
* acoustic instrumental, two guitars
11. Post toastee
* acoustic demo, guitar + vocals
12. Untitled instrumental
* outtake
13. Guitar snippet
* 53 seconds, Tommy counts in and plays a riff.
ENJOY!!!

VANCOUVER REHEARSALS - FRONT - ACID
David Bowie - Rehearsals 1976 (2nd February 1976)
The Pacific National Exhibition Coliseum
Vancouver, BC, Canada
Very Good Soundboard Recording Remastered By Captain Acid

OU: Hi Bowie fanatics, here it is, another `76 upgrade. Well, this one was pretty good to start with, and now it`s even better.
I have edited back in, Jean Genie that was missing, and i have also edited in the fals start of Five Years that was also missing.Someone was already dealing with this soundboard, it was mastered pretty loud for my taste but i did not want my remaster to be more quiet than this so they are the same in loudness. But they are different in other things.
I have fixed pitch, phase and levels and then I did the EQ.
No compression, limiters or noise reduction! Erik Snow and Quicksand were very helpful. Erik made another tasty artwork.
Enjoy

Genesis: New York 1976 (G+/VG- Aud) FLAC

The Lostbrook Tape Series Volume 124
Copy of Genesis 1976-04-09 Early Show NYC, NY-fr
OU: I was sitting in the second row directly in front of Steve Hackett, pleased that I didn't know anyone around me. This had been the case the previous night, and that tape benefited greatly from the situation. Moments before the show began, my friend Scott appeared in the aisle and made a difficult request of me. He asked me to trade seats with
his friend, a guitarist who wanted to study Steve Hackett's technique. I wanted to observe Hackett closely myself, so I protested. I also didn't want to move since my recorder and camera were concealed and ready for action. Then Scott played his ace - "I'm the one who got
you this ticket," he reminded me. This wasn't entirely true (see Vol 3 story) but I didn't want to prolong the argument with the clock ticking. As I gathered my gear, Scott consoled me and said, "Come on, you're sitting with me and Brad in the second row in front of Phil. We'll have a great time." That we did, but I went from a quiet taping situation to one marred by singing, clapping, and other over-enthusiastic nonsense. There are other problems with this tape: a small section of "Supper's Ready" was eaten by my deck and was so garbled that CQ needed to patch it with my April 8 tape.
There's still some brief garbling and a small section missing from "Los Endos," but we left it as is for now. There are a few other cuts between songs since I edited some of the moments that make me cringe. There's a tape change near the end of "Supper's Ready," and the second tape, the Scotch Highlander, is a real piece of garbage. There's also a slight chance I might have copied this tape for a friend a long time ago, so I can't say for sure if it's uncirculated. For all these reasons, my original intent was to leave this recording unreleased. I eventually decided that the performance is simply too outstanding to be consigned to rot on my shelf.

Kansas: Tulsa 1976 (Soundboard) FLAC

KansasLogo
Tulsa, Oklahoma 1976
Soundboard Recording

OU: All the information I have is as follows.. Way back many years ago I received this on a cassette tape from a friend of Kerry Livgren. I was told it was from the master tape. After a few years of having it, cds were being created and since I knew nothing of burning them at that time, I sent the tape back out to Topeka, KS. where a fellow KANSAS collector transferred the tape to CDR. I have no idea what program he used.
I listened to the cds today, and felt the hiss was a bit too much, so I used the EQ in SOUNDFORGE to get rid of a bit of hiss. NOT ALL OF IT, as I didn't want to loose
any highs. It sounds much better to my ears than the un-fixed version. As far as speed goes, I didn't get out a guitar and check the pitch. I also found that the songs on the 2 cd version I have will fit on one 80 minute cd, so it is presented here that way. (Back when this was done, there were mostly 74 minute cds)
Anyway, I used FLAC 8 to encode it. I hope I have all the details I know listed. I am sure if I have anything wrong I will hear about it!! It is a great show. ONE THING -- this version does not have Kerry's cool pre-recorded keyboard concert intro included. I have never heard a version of Tulsa 76 with it, so I assume it was not recorded.. This starts a bit into COWS..
Enjoy and share.. I will seed lots more KANSAS if the crowd here likes!!
This was when I liked KANSAS best --- "but the picture's faded, and time has stolen youth away".... (from LAMPLIGHT SYMPHONY)

Sound: Fair/Good

Ripping Method
Silver CD -> EAC test & copy -> wavs -> flac front end -> flacs level 8

Press-release: Fairly good audience recording of a very good show. Lots of audience noise, Elvis is in excellent voice although a bit distant and the instrumentation is muffled. There are a few small drop outs. First release on silver CD. Comes with 16 page colour booklet. There is a mistake on the back page - Emory Gordy in on bass not Jerry Scheff.

Comment from Elvis On CD: You can`t go wrong with these shows from Atlanta. Elvis loved his crowd and the crowd loved their King. A move from his little finger was enough to make the walls tremble. Great show! (Ciscoking)

Average Rating: Audio: 8.6
The Digital Dan: This source is taken directly from the original master tape, so this is as good as it gets. This is a perfectly preserved performance of Rush during the "AtWaS" tour. This concert is a true gem, better than the other audience performances of this tour. A must have for any Rush fan, this is a perfectly balanced recording of a very tight performance. Makes you wonder why would a band back then want Rush opening for them, they were that good! This show is sourced from the master tape, so it is as clean as it will ever get. It gets a heavy rotation of play and it is among my most favorite / cherished Rush ROIO's. As with all Digital Reproductions recordings, it's only available via free trade and never for sale. Just visit the trading links section to find people that will gladly trade this recording for free.

LeeGeddy: Attention all Rush Fans...this is a MUST HAVE if you like early Rush. When I first heard this recording, I was drooling and giggling with joy. It's so hard to imagine that a recording this old can be so good. This show is reported to be from the Master Analogue tape and it's amazing. Geddy's bass has that warm, fat sound to it..sorta like if you listen to vinyl on a good stereo system. Neil's bass drums will put your subs to the test. I only wished it had just a bit more mid-bass punch to even things out. Alex's guitars are perfectly represented. This recording is a tremendous find for all of us!! (July 2000) I don't know what the reviewer below is listening to, but I highly recommend that he removes his earplugs BEFORE listening to this recording.

ToBeOrWhat: In my humble opinion there are a drought of good bootlegs starting with the “Fly By Night” tour and ending with the “Hemispheres” tour. This newly found source is the first that stakes a claim during that era. It is a nice little show with a very tight and hard-hitting performance. It is listed as an EX+ in sound quality, I don’t think so at all, though it is by all means a very good one. Also, if you take it for its time, it is absolutely breathtaking. I was expecting something along the lines of “A Passage to Oslo PE” and was sourly disappointed at its far miss; however, I do enjoy this show and will listen to it in a very healthy rotation for some time. I’ve heard better performances from the band around this time although this is a great performance anyway. The sound has a little bit of a “hollow” feel, as if it were recorded in a seller or something. Not that warm airy feel of the Oslo ’79 show. Like the Oslo ’79 show this was recorded on poles (I’m told), but you can tell for sure this is an audience recording because of a few instances (that are not at all distracting) where you hear talking or clapping, most notably a “YEAH” at the beginning of “Working Man”. It really won’t bug you, even if you listen on really good headphones! I really enjoy listening to this show, but do not share others enthusiasm for it. Oh ya, in case you are wondering, I does kick the ass of “By-Tor’s Battle”. So much more equalized, much more pleasant to listen to. To me “All the World’s a Stage” is irreplaceable, but this is a nice alternative to listen to. All in all a good package, worth getting.

Eric (Audio - 9.5): This is a must have audience bootleg, how could you live without it? The sound is so nice, crisp, and all of the instruments are straight-forward, loud and clear. Though Rush was just an opening act back in the early 1970's, I bet the people in the crowd were just begging for a little more. I completly recommend this show to anyone.

Release notes: 14 years after the first release of this show, Audionics delivers a slightly more complete version of Elvis Presley's San Francisco November 28th, 1976 show, as taken from the mixing desk. Elvis first played San Francisco on October 26th, 1957, two shows on one day, near the very end of his final fifties tour. He would not return to the legendary "City by the Bay" until almost exactly 13 years later, on November 13th, 1970, at the legendary Cow Palace.
Presley made his final two appearances in the same building on November 28 and 29, 1976. Unlike most tour shows earlier in the year, Elvis was in fine form, and the shows were well received by the San Francisco crowd.
For the SAN FRANCISCO BAY BLUES reissue, Audionics worked directly with a first generation, DAT copy of the original soundboard tape and made some improvements to the audio. It was a painstaking process of repairing and enhancing the original binaural recording, and then the sound was mixed down to genuine stereo.
Originally, the left channel consisted of all vocals and nearly all the instruments, while the right channel featured only piano (Tony Brown) and rhythm guitar (John Wilkinson). To give the listener an idea of how this sounded, four digitally-restored, binaural bonus tracks are included. Unfortunately, the original tape ends during "Hound Dog" (previously unreleased), missing the show's closing tracks "Hawaiian Wedding Song", "Blue Christmas", "That's All Right" and "Can't Help Falling In Love".
SAN FRANCISCO BAY BLUES is presented in a neat-looking digipack filled with photographs taken during the November 28th Cow Palace concert. Here's your chance to listen to SAN FRANCISCO BAY BLUES - for the first time as complete as originally recorded.
