a this and that, cat in a scratched hat production. Do not sell this recording. share freely, gaplessly and losslessly.

OU comments: (Hey Baby, Motor City Madhouse, Drum Solo and Jam after Good And Ready?)
Pat Travers (guitar) and Carmine Appice (drums) play on the album, they may play in here too.
"Double Live Gonzo" includes performances from 1976 and 1977. "Intensities In Ten Cities" includes some from Detroit show, but it was released in 1981 so it can't be from this 1982 show because this one is featuring the new album songs and the recording date is announced after the show concludes.

Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes: Chicago 1974 (FM) FLAC

by request - WZRD-FM - first gig with Derek St. Holmes
TedNugent_HCC_ad_740421 copy
Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes .... late October 1974
Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL, USA
(Incomplete)

Ted Nugent - Guitar, Lead Vocals
Rob Grange - Bass, Backing Vocals
Vic Mastrianni - Drums, Backing Vocals
Derek St. Holmes - Guitar, Lead Vocals

Taper: Unknown
Taping Gear: Unknown
Lineage: Maxell UD trade reel @ 3 3/4 IPS> Akai GX-220D playback> TASCAM CDRW-700> Trade CD-R> (wav) EAC (secure mode)> (flac) Trader's Little Helper level 6 (align on sector boundaries)
Quality: g to vg+ (PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION BELOW)
Length: 31:09 minutes

Set List:
01. Hibernation (Beginning cut - first 80 seconds multipath interference)
02. Stranglehold
03. Pony Express
04. Lady Luck
05. Sasha (cut - beginning only)

Taper's Comments:
Show description & comments follow: I likely would not have posted this, save that it's part of the first gig Derek St. Holmes ever played with The Nuge. I suspect whomever taped this gave up due to all the FM interference problems they must have been having. It starts off badly, but after about 80 seconds things become quite listenable. When the band isn't playing, there's some hum, but I suspect this is coming off the amps. I would not recommend this for the casual fan, but it's a pretty historical document for a Nuge fan of what was to come.
Ted mentions his recent appearance in Chicago, likely referring to the October 12, 1974 show at the "Aragon Ballroom".
I hope a complete interference free post will turn up in the near future. Enjoy.

Ted Nugent: Omaha 1978 (Soundboard) FLAC

stub-1978-12-03
Venue: Civic Auditorium Arena
Location: Omaha, NE
Date: Dec. 03,1978
Weekend Warrior Tour
SBD?
Trade CD-R>NeroSoundTrax>FLAC 7

CD 1
1. Intro/Stormtroopin'
2. Just What The Doctor Ordered
3. Free for All
4. Dog Eat Dog
5. Cat Scratch Fever
6. Need You Bad

CD 2
7. I Got The Feelin'
8. Just Jammin'
9. One Woman
10. Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine
11. Wang Dang Sweet Poontang
12. Stranglehold
13. Motor City Madhouse
14. Gonzo (blues jam ending)

Total Time: 89:05

OU Notes: This is a high energy show (yes, even for Ted!) I enjoy the mix of this show you can hear all instruments well. Vocals nicely seperate and clear. Real good guitar tones. It may be too bassy for some tastes.
I like the dual vocals between Huhn & Nugent (maybe it's just the mix) on Stormtroopin' plus it has a very hot solo from Ted. "Free for All" is an exceptionally fun track on this recording. It's got a nice intro & a slightly different feel than usual but still has great Ted ad lib and frett work. A scorching "I Got the Feelin'" A very kewl jam on "Stranglehold" Motor City Mad House has a painful feedback screech ending.

Band Line Up:
Ted Nugent-Lead Guitar & Vocals
Charlie Huhn-Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
David Hull -Bass

OU's Show description & comments follow: This is a recording of the only time I saw "The Nuge" back in the day. In fact, the only other time I saw him was at THE AMBOY DUKES Reunion in Detroit in 2009. This was a great double bill with "The Nuge" opening, and ZZ TOP headlining, right when "Tres Hombres" was breaking. This recording is irritating to me, as the guy fades out the audience after EVERY song! Why??!! Not great sound, but reasonable, and it improves quickly as the sound crew adjusts the P.A. Wish I had the ZZ TOP portion, but I don't. Enjoy. bpthree

This recording has been circulating since '93 however this version is a new master cassette transfer from my original analog master tape (Apr. 2010). Great show. This would be the last time i saw Damn Yankees as they went back to their original bands after this tour. I've heard talk of them getting together again but it hasn't happened.

vg+ to ex- (almost entirely ex-)
8.5-9.0/10 IMHO as always. (OU too impressed with his work - dave)

I taped the show from the balcony, very close to stage left AND stage right (if you're familiar with the NMB HOB). There are basically 3 options you have when taping at this venue: balcony close to the stage, balcony dead center from the stage (balcony is U-shaped) or the area downstairs in front of the stage ("the pit"). All other areas sort of suck. I decided to go with balcony stage left, as I have produced recordings from that area that sound almost like FM broadcasts. A real sweet spot. Well, it's been a year since the last time that I was at the HOB and certain things have been changed, so this recording was not as good as previous ones were from that area. I have taped from the pit in the past BUT that area is a REAL crap shoot.
Sadly, the pit gets filled quickly with tourists who see basically 1 show a year, if that, do not know how to behave at concerts and blab non-stop to their friends all through the show. When I got there, the pit was already packed so Uncle Jojo said "F-ck this" and opted for the balcony. During the show, I saw a LOT of talking and other bs going on in the pit so I think that my choice was the right one.
There is hardly any talking on this recording. However, the deaf a-hole running the soundboard really boosted the bass & drums over Ted's guitar and vocals !?!?!?!?!? and with my earplugs in, all I could hear was bass and drums. Happily, the recording came out much better than expected when I listened to it on my way home. It's a very good recording IMHO but just not as good as ones before. So what I'm saying in my long-winded way is that it's not my fault and I did the best that I could. Aw-right ? Saw-right !
After about 5 songs, I very quickly crossed from balcony stage left to balcony stage right (about 200 feet in 45 seconds) to see if the acoustics were better on the other side. Sadly, about the same. (See if you can spot when I moved during the show !). I removed a whoo and several loud whistles w/o losing any music. You'll hear a talkative female a-hole during one of the final songs on CD 2 but I moved away from her until her verbal diarrhea was over. Otherwise, there's virtually no talking around me and the people around me were fairly
well-behaved. Ted was on a roll that night and now a few words about good old Uncle Ted and HIS behavior...
I've witnessed the Ted Nugent Experience live since 1977, I believe (I can't remember the exact date ; maybe some Pittsburgh Ted fans can help me out). I first saw Ted at the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA on 6/30/1977. The bill was UFO (?), the Scorpions and Ted as the headliner. I left for the lobby during the Scorps because I thought that they were boring (no offense to Scorp fans). Ted was crazy. I remember him swinging onto the stage via rope & I think that he wore a loincloth. I DO clearly recall him standing atop a bank of amps after a pretty good guitar solo and screaming "Let's see those disco a-holes do that". Hilarious. After that, I was kinda hooked and have had a love/hate attitude towards him ever since. Love the guitar pyrotechnics and hate the absolute bullshit that comes out of his mouth. As he gets older (he said he's 62) he just gets worse. I'll leave it to you guys to pick out the amazing sh-t that he says (wear headphones and turn it up during the rants) but here are a few samples: he's blacker than Obama, he's a soul man, he's a fat young colored girl (or words to that effect), he loves to kill animals, he loves attitude, God bless America, f-ck everybody else, the list goes on and on. He's really repulsive and I don't know if it's an act or if he really believes what he says. He can't sing as well as he used to and sort of
talk/sings several ditties. It was an amazingly repulsive but riveting performance. Judge it for yourselves...
A few final random observations...when the AGC is turned on on the Zoom, you're virtually assured that the recording will be distortion-free. It is but I had to boost the volume by 400% to get it to a reasonable level... Ted's spoken words during the rants are still a little low so turn it up... The total ticket cost was $31 US. $23.50 base + $2.50 facility charge + $5.00 handling. I got my ticket directly from the box office. Had I gone on line thru Live Nation, it would've been $12.00 !!! more or $43.00 total !!!
Jojogunne sez BOYCOTT THOSE LIVE NATION F-CKERS.... This show marked the first time since
9/11 that I was NOT wanded (metal detector) at the door. Seems somebody is finally coming to their senses...The sound is very good like I said above but it could've been better thanks to the SB idiot...Ted's rants are 8:52, the length of a long song or 2 short ones. Ted ripped off the audience because he likes to hear himself talk. Thanks for one or two less songs, you asshole...If I have the date wrong concerning the 1st time I saw Ted, PLEASE correct me. Ted and the Scorpions were DEFINITELY on the bill. Unsure about UFO...If you hate Ted's attitude, DON'T FLAME ME. I am NOT Ted Nugent, only a sort of reporter. Flame the man himself...You can omit the rants and Track 20 if you wish.
You won't lose any music. Well, that's about all that I have so let's get this show on
the road...

08. Hibernation
09. Stranglehold (NYC '75)

OU Show description & comments follow: This is "The Nuge" touring on his first album without THE AMBOY DUKES moniker, one of his best, in my opinion. I got this reel in the 70's from a guy in Texas, so I would assume the recordings were fairly low generation. The main issue I have with these recordings is the mix, and you can actually hear it changing while they play. I would assume this was originally broadcast live, and the clown mixing it didn't have a clue.
That aside, this is still killer stuff, with some superb guitar work from Uncle Ted. Enjoy!
