Elvis Presley: Las Vegas 1970 (Soundboard) FLAC

CD 4
This is the third of five stereo soundboards which were made available by the compilers of the Complete Works box set after the box was released. The box was released with six monosoundboards however the bootleggers never did get hold of the sixth stereo soundboard for 11 August Midnight Show. The box was mistakenly released with the soundboards in mono and the bootleggers made them available later via a free download as wav files. Four of the six soundboards have now been released officially by BMG/Sony and can be found on the following releases

10 August 1970 Opening Show on the FTD release One Night In Vegas
11 August 1970 Midnight Show on the Live In Las Vegas box set
12 August 1970 Midnight Show on That's The Way It Is Special Edition
13 August 1970 Dinner Show on the FTD release The Wonder Of You

Lineage: BMG soundboard tape (recording equipment unknown) > transfer method from original tape unknown > transfer method to bootleggers unknown > wav download from bootleggers > flac frontend > flac level 8

To preserve the files as they were received the original wavs have been converted to flac level 8 using flac front end. No attempt was made to fix the SBEs with TLC or any other program.

Press-release: Fairly good audience recording of a very good show. Lots of audience noise, Elvis is in excellent voice although a bit distant and the instrumentation is muffled. There are a few small drop outs. First release on silver CD. Comes with 16 page colour booklet. There is a mistake on the back page - Emory Gordy in on bass not Jerry Scheff.

Comment from Elvis On CD: You can`t go wrong with these shows from Atlanta. Elvis loved his crowd and the crowd loved their King. A move from his little finger was enough to make the walls tremble. Great show! (Ciscoking)

Elvis Presley: Las Vegas 1973 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

CD 1
The Straight Arrow label releases the double CD, Before Darkness Falls, recorded, Sunday, August 26, 1973 Dinner and Midnight Shows, [audience recordings] Las Vegas Hilton, Las Vegas, NV.
Elvis' 1973 'Summer Festival' was his ninth month-long stand in Las Vegas since July-August 1969. Reviews noted his excess weight and half-hearted performances. But, despite bad press, health issues and a 1967 marriage that would soon end in divorce, Presley slowly warmed to his always-thrilled fans.
The songs here, from his Sunday shows on August 26th, 1973, are a good example of this warmth. At both shows Elvis welcomed the presence of Lisa, his beloved daughter, then just five and-a-half years old. Obviously, she provided additional inspiration for her dad. In fact, there are several rare highlights, including 'A Big Hunk O' Love', 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', 'Release Me' and 'How Great Thou Art'. And for fans of legendary bass player Emory Gordy, Jr., these would be among the last dates he would ever do with Presley.
Both the Dinner and Midnight sets are taken from a 24-bit digital transfer of the first-generation copy of a privately-recorded 120-minute cassette. The sound was painstakingly restored for your listening pleasure.
The August 26th, 1973 Dinner show is previously unissued, while the Midnight show was released in substandard mono by Memory Records in 2002 ('Caught In The Act'). Straight Arrow presents both shows in superb, 'two-mike live ambience' stereo sound. Like its predecessors from Straight Arrow Special Products mini series, this new release will be presented in a beautiful digipack with all the necessary information as well as a collection of photos taken during the September 1st, 1973 dinner show.

Release notes: 14 years after the first release of this show, Audionics delivers a slightly more complete version of Elvis Presley's San Francisco November 28th, 1976 show, as taken from the mixing desk. Elvis first played San Francisco on October 26th, 1957, two shows on one day, near the very end of his final fifties tour. He would not return to the legendary "City by the Bay" until almost exactly 13 years later, on November 13th, 1970, at the legendary Cow Palace.
Presley made his final two appearances in the same building on November 28 and 29, 1976. Unlike most tour shows earlier in the year, Elvis was in fine form, and the shows were well received by the San Francisco crowd.
For the SAN FRANCISCO BAY BLUES reissue, Audionics worked directly with a first generation, DAT copy of the original soundboard tape and made some improvements to the audio. It was a painstaking process of repairing and enhancing the original binaural recording, and then the sound was mixed down to genuine stereo.
Originally, the left channel consisted of all vocals and nearly all the instruments, while the right channel featured only piano (Tony Brown) and rhythm guitar (John Wilkinson). To give the listener an idea of how this sounded, four digitally-restored, binaural bonus tracks are included. Unfortunately, the original tape ends during "Hound Dog" (previously unreleased), missing the show's closing tracks "Hawaiian Wedding Song", "Blue Christmas", "That's All Right" and "Can't Help Falling In Love".
SAN FRANCISCO BAY BLUES is presented in a neat-looking digipack filled with photographs taken during the November 28th Cow Palace concert. Here's your chance to listen to SAN FRANCISCO BAY BLUES - for the first time as complete as originally recorded.

Elvis Presley: Shreveport 1975 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

cd
Shreveport '75
Label: Touchdown Productions
Type: Live Audience Recording
Location: Shreveport, Louisiana
Date: 7 June 1977 AS
Release Date: 2011

Promotional note from Touchdown Productions: Promotion note: TOUCHDOWN Productions proudly presents their next release, which will be the afternoon show from Shreveport, Louisiana on June 7, 1975. The King delivered a very good show with lots of highlights. The sound is of very good quality for this kind of recordings.

Comment from elvisoncd.com: A very good show from a very good tour. Elvis delivered a fine performance and he really enjoyed his time on stage. The crowd went crazy and a little move from his finger made the walls tremble. However, the show wasn`t recorded in its entirety here: American Trilogy and Let Me Be There are missing after How Great Thou Art. The little cut there indicates this fact. A complete tape does exist. (Ciscoking)

Elvis Presley: Lake Tahoe 1976 (VG Aud) FLAC

cd1
A Triple Threat
Label: Straight Arrow
Type: Live Audience Recording
Location: Sahara Tahoe Hotel, Lake Tahoe, Nevada
Date: 2 May 1976 DS
Release Date: January 2011

Press announcement from Straight Arrow (As recorded at the Sahara Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, NV - Sunday, May 2, 1976):
In the past year 'Straight Arrow' managed to obtain a couple of superb-quality Vegas and Tahoe off-line recordings suitable for special releases. The third volume of our "STRAIGHT ARROW SPECIAL PRODUCTS" mini-series is "A TRIPLE THREAT!" (SA/SP 2011-03-02) and features the super-cool Lake Tahoe concert from May 2, 1976.
Of all of Elvis' 70s concerts, those in Lake Tahoe are the most poorly-documented. In a way it's a real pity, because the beauty of the Nevada surroundings and the intimacy of the Sahara showroom always seemed to bring out the best in him. Although Elvis looked somewhat unhealthy in May 1976, he appeared to be in a very good mood, and his warm interaction with fans made the shows quite memorable. The May 2, 1976 gig featured on this release is one of the longest and most entertaining that he gave.
Listening to this, one might easily get the impression that Elvis was courting guests in his living room. There's a nice intimacy to the recording, and his interplay with audience and musicians alike is a true delight. There are also a number of vocally-impressive performances in evidence, one being Elvis' latest RCA single, "Hurt," which he reprises twice! It is the only known date where "Hurt" was performed three times due to the terrific audience response! Worth a mention as well are solid performances of "Burning Love", "My Way", "Trying' To Get To You" and "An American Trilogy".
This previously unreleased show is taken from a 24-bit digital transfer of a first-generation copy of original cassette. Since the recorder was very close to James Burton's stage monitor, the lead guitar is exceptionally well-defined in the sound image.
Like its predecessors, this new release will be presented in a beautiful digipack with all the necessary information, plus Lake Tahoe memorabilia and photos taken during actual gig. If you dug "FADED LOVE" and "YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY YOU LOVE ME" CDs, we'll bet that you will love this one, too.

Comment from elvisoncd.com
A decent show with interesting setlist and Elvis being very committed. Not common these days. (Ciscoking)

Elvis Presley: Orlando 1977 (Soundboard) FLAC

untitled1
photo from this very show
Orlando, FL
Sports Stadium
1977-02-15
*LIBERATED BOOT, The Final Curtain disc 2*

source: unreleased soundboard
length: approx. 37min. + bonustracks
quality: You be the judge

This is not for everyone, for me it´s a no-brainer, as we have very few 1977-boardtapes, but the quality is "special".

From the boxset´s liner notes:
"The Orlando show was originally recorded in binaural with the band and orchestra on the right channel and the piano on the left channel. Elvis´ voice is almost inaudible on this recording. To bring back Elvis´ voice in the foreground the most sophisticated software to date has been used. Otherwise, this show would have been lost forever!!!"
The bonus tracks all sound EXCELLENT though, even though I had to remove two tracks which were officially released on the FTD-release "Spring Tours ´77" (as noted below).

Orlando:
1. Love me
2. If you love me (let me know)
3. You gave me a mountain
4. O sole mio (sung by Sherill Nielsen) / It´s now or never
5. All shook up / Teddy bear / Don´t be cruel
6. Help me
7. Big boss man
8. My way
9. Introductions
10. Hurt
11. Hound dog
12. Can´t help falling in love with you

bonus:
13. Release me (Columbia, SC 770218)
14. Trying to get to you (Columbia, SC 770218)
15. Fairytale (Charlotte, NC 770220)
16. My way (Charlotte, NC 770220)
17. Moody blue (Charlotte, NC 770220)
18. How great thou art (Charlotte, NC 770220
)
19. Blue Christmas (Norman, OK 779326 - REMOVED)
20. My way (Abilene, TX 770327)
21. That´s alright (Abilene, TX 770327)
22. Bosom of Abraham / You better run (duet w/ Charlie Hodge) (Alexandria, VA 770329)

OU: An old boot LP record which was released in 1977. I bought it in '90s at 2nd hand vinyl reseller shop. As 4 songs which have been released officially through RCA/FTD label, I removed those 4 from this torrent to align DIME policy.
This files are absolutly very bad sound, for example, I cannot understand what it was playing at "San Antonio Rose", however, some songs in this record are very rare so I hope that this is worth to try listening. I hope you enjoy!

Elvis Presley: Houston 1974 (Soundboard) FLAC

event801
"Event Number 8"
Location: The Houston Astrodome
Date: March 3rd, 1974 (Afternoon Show)
Sound Quality: Soundboard

Review by Mark Littlejohn
I just got this CD this week and let me tell you, it is one fascinating show. Six months ago no one knew this recording even existed, now here we are with a terrific package from the new label Madison. They should have named this one "Breathing Out Fire!" (Click here for the actual Breathing Out Fire CD). I hope this release just pisses the hell out of certain people, the ones who like to say "I've got this and nobody else does!" Particularly a certain individual in Chicago, IL who said there are no recordings from the Astrodome. Well, here's one from 1974, and I've seen the tape box from one in February 1970, so maybe that one will surface too. No matter how smart you think you are, there is always somebody smarter. Thus ended the lesson.
This CD is the afternoon show on March 3, 1974 at the monstrous Houston Astrodome. As in the shows from February 1970, Elvis did not use an orchestra, just rhythm section and backup singers. In addition, there apparently were no warm-up acts, just a sequence of events/acts, and when it was Elvis' turn, bam! Away we go! The show had to have started with a drum roll, but the recording starts while the band is playing the opening riff for 'See See Rider' and apparently Elvis is already on stage, as he starts singing about 8 seconds into it. This is a good version as Elvis is really putting forth an effort. His voice distorts just a little from time to time as his mike did not have a wind block, that or level is just a tad high. After this opening number, Elvis says "...good evening ladies and gentlemen. I'm event number 8!" He then quickly jumps into 'I Got A Woman' and this is a very good version too. His performance on these two songs remind me somewhat of some of his concerts in 1976 in that he is almost trying to vocalize the lyrics too much.
He may have been nervous in front of a crowd that size, or because the crowd was so far away he felt he needed to do more. Next is 'Love Me' and this is one of his better efforts on the song as he sings it without fooling with the audience (they were way out of reach anyway). 'Trying To Get To You' follows and this is a very nice take. Then comes 'All Shook Up' & 'Love Me Tender', which are both well done. 'Johnny B. Goode' follows and it is awesome! Elvis and James Burton just go to town on this one. 'Hound Dog' & 'Fever' are next and Elvis is puts forth some extra effort on both of these numbers.
Now we're gonna get serious. 'Polk Salad Annie' has to be a killer. Elvis puts so much effort into the doing the wild thing at the end that he can hardly talk. He barely says a couple of words in between each breath. The first time I listened to the CD, I thought it sounded like he was going to pass out. He asks J. D. & the Stamps to sing 'Why Me Lord' and I was very surprised that he joined in on the first chorus. This song is well done, and J. D.'s voice sounds terrific in the dome. 'Suspicious Minds' is next, and Elvis lights this one up, too. He does four straight verses on the second half and since he only had to "work" the 5 second drum roll at the end of each verse, he doesn't get as winded. Next are the band introductions, and then immediately it's back to work.
A nice version of 'Can't Stop Loving You' starts the second half of the show, and then Elvis introduces his new song 'Help Me'. It's a very nice performance and then Elvis announces 'How Great Thou Art'. Even without the orchestra, this song sounds wonderful. Olivia Newton John's 1973 Grammy winner 'Let Me Be There' is next and Elvis does an excellent job with this song. Elvis always thought it was a great song, but some critics like that jackass Robert Hilborne of the Los Angeles Times, thought it was a waste for Elvis to sing a song like that.
'Funny How Time Slips Away' is pretty much as usual and then Elvis sincerely thanks the crowd for driving out to see him. Nobody remembers the long lines at the gas pump in a city the size of Houston, or only being able to buy gas on odd or even days depending on the last number of your auto tag. Not to mention the time it takes to get in and out of the parking lot at a place like the Astrodome. I believe he was very touched that so many people came, as the afternoon crowd was bigger that any from the 1970 shows. The evening show would be bigger still, with over 44,000 people in attendance. 'Can't Help Falling In Love' brings the show to a close and then Elvis is driven around the crowd for about three minutes as the band plays a neat variation of the opening instrumental riff.
This is a must have CD. Do whatever you have to do (beg, borrow, or steal) to get a copy. The packaging is first rate, with a nice booklet featuring several pictures from the evening show (apparently no suitable pics from the afternoon gig were available) and some interesting liner notes. The sound is fantastic, especially considering it where it was recorded. There is no echo, and you can hear the guitars, bass, piano, and drums perfectly. Get one while you can. You'll be sorry if you don't.
