OU: Missed the start of Saori Jo, as I was still drinking in the bar, which is a shame as she was very good on the 30 minutes I watched. Ian, Martin, Doane, David and John all guested on her set, and I didn't think to record it until near the end, so only have 17 minutes. The first track, which cuts in, has Ian on flute, and Doane on Drums. I have included the incomplete Saori Jo set.
Jethro Tull were in good form, with IA's voice reasonable on the night. The band members looked like they were enjoying themselves too. The setlist is evolving during the course of this tour probably due Ian's varying abilities: no two nights appear to be the same. Songs From The Wood has been dropped from the setlist already on this tour, as (seemingly) Ian had some difficulty with the vocals, although it was on the list in Aberdeen. Judge for yourselves.
A full house, and an appreciative crowd, although there was one drunk idiot at the back, who was eventually told to "shut the f*"K up.." by another audience member. Mercifully he did.
The acoustics at the (circa 1858) Music Hall are designed for classical concerts, so noise from the back carries to the front unfortunately, and is picked up by the MD recorder. A lot of reverb.
Getting the recording level right proved tricky also, and some clipping has occured. On recent tours Doane's drumkit has been located behind a perspex screen; not so at the Music hall!
The band didn't take the customary pee-break, and played a continuous set. This meant a lot of movement between songs, with people shifting along the rows of seats to visit the cludgie. I had to allow several to pass in front of me.
This caused the microphone to rotate in the socket, only noticable at at Ian's intro to Fat Man.
I have the song introduction included at the beginning of the track rather than the end of the previous track. I also missed around 10 seconds at the start of Dun Ringhill - I had switched the recorder off after the support act!
Artwork included. This will be a 2 disc set, so disc 2 starts with Bug.
Enjoy and share freely. Cheers,
