Show description & comments follow: Before I had a VCR, I rigged up a way to record the sound off of my TV. Most TV's during this time frame did not have an audio out feature, so I purchased some sort of "black box" thing that supposedly did something to help you play your TV sound through your stereo. I opened my back cover on my TV, and got a cable with alligator clips, that I attached to each of the inputs to the TV speaker. That ran to the "black box", and then to my cassette deck. Understand that TV sound back then was hardly high fidelity, but it was at least respectable, and worth having. The biggest shortfall in sound was the high end. As a fellow DIMER so aptly pointed out, TV sound only went to around +/- 5,000 Hz then, where most things considered high fidelity were three times that.
This is the late great Rory Gallagher circa "Against The Grain", and he performs four

1 - I originally was going to offer the best version of this recording. I have always preferred my "non-boot" (from analog tape), as the best recording from this show.
2 - Then I was going to edit in & out different items to make this as complete as possible, but then I'd be hacking up & including little bits & pieces. So finally I decided to just offer both versions.
3 - Items of difference that I know of & that I have found:
.... "Denim & A Strat" has removed the DJ banter between some songs.
.... "Denim & A Strat" has a fade & a cut at the beginning of "A Million Miles A Away" track.
.... "Denim & A Strat" has more "Thank you's" & more tuning up at the beginning of "Bullfrog Blues" track.
.... more differences? Can anyone add more?
4 - In the past this also traded as a couple different dates, which you may have. Those being: August 1974 & September 3, 1974.

OU Notes: The only editing performed after source procurement was retracking of the songs and the deletion silent tracks and some flawed tuning. There is a slight hum present in parts this recording. It is really only noticeable on the quietest portions of the show (between songs, tuning etc). Two tracks are missing from this recording after d1t08. Etree has OOTWP and Too Much Alcohol listed as being played at this show.
I assume these are the acoustic songs Rory was talking about at the end of d1t08.
There was a small section of dead air where these songs should have been after d1t08 that I deleted. There was a cut in the between song tuning after d1t09.
When the music picked back up, there was some severely flawed tuning prior to the start of d2t01. I removed the flawed tuning.
It really added nothing to the recording and is much more pleasant to the ears without it. There was a severe flaw in the tuning on d2t03. This was omitted.

OU Notes: Hey everybody, here´s something for Rock- and Bluesfans!
This is Rory Gallagher´s performance from the 2nd British Rockmeeting in Germersheim, Insel Grün, Germany(near Heidelberg), plus some very nice short cuts(everything I have included), recorded early 70´s in Germany!
This is my first Rory Gallagher compilation!
Amoung the more than 40 acts on this 2nd British Rockmeeting in southern Germany, were Pink Floyd, Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep, Humble Pie, Kinks, Family and many more. The Bands played from Friday May 20th to Monday May 22nd 1972!
Rory played Monday afternoon, his set was, beside Lindisfarne, the only set broadcasted!(incomplete, ca. 40 mins)

People from other countries hardly could imagine, how popular Rory was here in the earlyer 70´s.......... I saw him there for the first time, and he really did a great and intense performance! He was so good, we couldn t hardly wait for his next show, scheduled for Autumn 1972!
He was the only artist to give 3 encores in Germersheim.... I added 5 tracks he played live acc., in a German FM Radio studio, plus 3 tracks from a really superp audience tape recorded in Ludwigsburg 3/72! (recorded by taper "U",one of the best tapers I found here, for this period!

Ps. I`m proud to say that I attented this festival as a fifteen year old boy! It´s unbelievabale, but the organizers had to change the area for the festival several times in the last moments and one possible area was just 3 km from the small town I grew up! Since my mother saw no way to keep me away from something like that in the neighbourhood, she was prepaired enough to let me go another 20 km, finally!

Additional Notes:
Received these from a trader in the UK around 1992 that was affiliated with the BBC. He claims all were from his masters that he recorded himself, making them 1st gen. copies. Gklainer transferred these from the original cassettes to .wav files in 1998, and recorded the XM broadcast early last year. The estate of Rory Gallagher released "BBC SESSIONS" in 1999, and placed some of the original tracks from this set on this release. Those 5 tracks have been removed, along with 5 other tracks from 1971 and 1972 originally recorded that were either mono or had sound problems. The removed tracks have been replaced with the entire BBC Broadcast from 1/7/72 that was transferred from vinyl. Comments: I've picked up a few versions of this show over the years and all have poor sound quality. This version is a low gen remaster I received in a trade a few weeks back and is definitely a major upgrade. A great performance by the band with the usual jawdropping guitar heroics from Rory and is much more enjoyable to listen to thanks to the upgrade.
