"Note from the original taper: "The "Four Faces of Eric Clapton" was a broadcast by the now extinct MTV Australia as a promotion to the November 1990 ... Australian tour.
It was re-broadcast as an encore just before Christmas that year, and one more time in 1991.
I videotaped the second broadcast on television, and taped the simulcast FM broadcast (at the time I didn't have a Hi-fi VCR), which is the source of the CDR.
The quality of the broadcast was pretty good with the exception of big dropouts in the middle of Bad Love and Layla.
I've checked the videotape (which was recorded separately) and it appears these faults were part of what was broadcast.
I also taped the last simulcast which turned out to be in mono, so I was stuck with the one stereo recording with the dropouts."

Geetarz Comments: This recording has a special fascination for me ... see, certain performances are perhaps over-circulated, in relationship to the recording or performance quality.
Then, there are those fairly rare recordings, which for some reason, seem to slip under the radar, and not grab the attention of many people.
The recording featured here is certainly one of the latter, one which doesn't get the attention it likely deserves.
First, we have the January 24, 1990 performance of the "Four Piece" band, which is one of the most widely circulated EC shows in existence, with good reason - it's a great performance!
There are two main mixes of the aforementioned performance, both a more close-miked mix intended for radio broadcast, and an internal in-house mix, with a more open feel, found on reference copies of the unreleased video feed.
This MTV Australia mix actually contains a third unique mix, which in many ways is sort of between the other two. It's unique - and found only on this recording.
There are also subtle changes in the mixes for the Blues and Orchestra nights.
But, the rare thing here - the thing that, somehow, seems to escape notice by fans and collectors ... is that this recording features the ONLY KNOWN SOUNDBOARD MATERIAL from the 13-Piece "Horn" band!
According to my sources, when this project began, the intent was to chronicle the 4 bands, and 18 concerts in the 1990 run at the Royal Albert Hall on a recording which was to be titled "The Four Faces of Eric Clapton".
For reasons unknown, the project as originally intended was shelved, and the initial idea was revisited, combining some performances from those 1990 shows, with performances from the record-setting 24 night run of shows in 1991, accordingly being released as "24 Nights".
That official release didn't contain even a hint of the 1990 13-Piece "Big Band with Horns", and to date, this is the only soundboard portion of those shows that is in circulation.
