There are conflicting reports whether the SBD master is on cassettes or reels, but it sounds like it would have to be reels. The last 26 seconds of Here Comes Sunshine is missing on our copy of the SBD and is patched in using an AUD master from a cassette copy of unknown low generation.
22 seconds in Eyes Of The World are patched from this AUD source also. The 22-second cut in Eyes looks like a cassette tape flip introduced when the reels were transcribed to 1st gen cassette. The missing conclusion of Here Comes Sunshine is harder to account for on this hypothesis, but there seems a reasonable chance that both missing segments are intact on the master reels.
First set highlights include TLEO, Row Jimmy, GSET and China Cat > Rider. The Here Comes Sunshine times almost 16 minutes, is the longest known on circulating tape and probably the best. The Dark Star is the third longest known at 43:28, and one of the all time best. It is the fraternal twin of 11/11/73.
Dave Greenberg did the patches. David Gans supplied DATs of the 1st gen cassette SBD and Jim Powell instigated the project, supplied the AUD cassette used to patch the SBD's defects, and wrote this note.

The ~45 minute Dark Star is worth the download alone. Great show, great sound (pretty sure it's from reels). Even casual fans should grab this one!

The Dead still allow free recording/trading privileges of all their shows. They are the only ones that I know that actually have an official statement to that effect!

Yes but once upon a time, etree.org had all the Dead shows up as lossless SOUNDBORADS... Gone are the days. If memory serves me well, this show showed up on David Gans radio show... which was the first place I ever saw it. ANY Dead from 66 to 78 is worth downloading as a soundboard... after that it is hit and miss... and yes I know there are others who disagree with me on those later years but... I've trusted my musical tastes and choices for 52 years and some of those later-Dead-junies havenb't yet answered the question: Was it The Music or the drugs that makes it so correct. I feel like I know the answer. Thanks for this one, Dave

Greetings from Tallahassee. The Dark Star on this tape is, of course, legendary but in popular memory DS often overshadows the HC Sunshine which is notable *not* just for being the longest HCS on record but for being one of the coolest. They were stretching out HC Sunshine to push the envelope in 73 and this is a good example. Performances of everything else throughout the show were fantastic. This tape is a must-have for any Dead fan or collector. Another similarly awesome show is 11/11/1973.
If you're not a Deadhead or aren't familiar with the Dead then it's also required listening to get an idea of what the boys were capable of at the height of their collective powers. This is serious music! Thanks for the upload!

Hallo thanks a lot for this one, I am in hurry to listen to 43 minutes dark star, but unfortunately the link number 8 (rapidshare) doesn't work, it is quite strange because I am able to connect to rapidshare first page (two clocks) but after the click (I have a premium account) the second page, the real one for the download, doesn't appear. I check megaupload but it is not the same, probably it is different.
May you help me?
