I'm aware I've nagged for a post by Mike Scott and the boys a few times in the past, so let me be the first to say a big thank you for the first ever Waterboys post at QB. A fine example of 'The Big Music' pioneered by this excellent band in the mid late 80s and leading up to the fab celtic period of Fisherman's Blues etc.
Great first post, hope it isn't the last
Big thanks as always
There will be more
LOVE the Waterboys - Yes!
That's the best news, not just a classy songwriter but a wild and great live band too. I should know I've still got the scars!
Oh, ths is really good! Not too different from the official/unofficial "Live Adventures" recorded the same year, but the "This is the sea" medley is still awesome!!!
This reminds me of how wonderful was this band and how BIG were the Big Music's years!
THEY WERE A RIVER, NOT LOST IN THE SEA !
Most of the misc tv and festival sources used for 'Live Adventures' have been released as bootlegs. The official album had a brief release, then a re-release on a different label and has been out of issue for a long time.
The set i would really like to get is a recording of their epic performance at Glastonbury '89. I was there to see the complete 'Fisherman's Blues' lineup (masses of mandolins!) and got a tape from a market trader but the sound quality is beyond redemption. Please consider this as a request if you should ever see it anywhere.
Big thanks as always
