Also in 1982 someone recorded a live show at the Ritz, New York. This show appeared on the 2-LP set Let It Rock! (Vinyl Gang). The interesting topic of this bootleg is the guest performer on guitar: the guitarist is announced by Chuck Berry as "Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones". Also the album cover states so. However, within the Stones collectors community it is for sure that the guitarist was not Keith Richards, but Ron Wood!
It's said that Chuck just confused the two. Three sides of the album contain the complete show:
Roll Over Beethoven, Sweet Little Sixteen, School Day, Liverpool Drive, Memphis, Let it Rock, Baby What You Want Me to Do, Mean Old World, Carol, Little Queenie, Johnny B. Goode, Everyday I Have the Blues, Reelin' and Rockin' and House Lights.
The fourth side contains live recordings of The Rolling Stones performing Chuck Berry numbers. Johnny B. Goode and Everyday I Have the Blues are said to be also on a Keith Richards bootleg CD called Bloody Red Rooster, though I haven't seen one yet.

This is one of those slightly contrived boots where the content doesn't quite match up to the title! Not heard this yet but I wonder which local band was grabbed to backup Chuck for this particular date, truth is they are probably the only people to know or remember! It's a shame really that such a truly great artist plays so fast and loose with his live performances.. Oh well, have guitar will travel!
Anyway it's chuck from vinyl and that's got to be worth something especially if the good folks from 'vinyl gang' are involved
Big thanks as always
ps got any Chuck with the Steve Miller band, now that really was a winner!
There's a story (can't find it at the moment) in chuck berry' autobiography where he was doing some show with one of his pickup bands. Keith Richard DID come on stage and start playing, and chuck, not wanting to be upstaged, shooed him off. Later, someone went to find Keith, but he was gone.......
