OU: Kate Bush Live in Manchester, April 10th, 1979. (1988) This album, a two-record set from our old familiar NYC-based bootleg outfit, is exactly what it claims to be. The record is not as complete a record of the Tour programme as the bootleg 2-LP set of the Bristol concert (which is a virtually unedited copy of the entire concert), since it only contains twenty tracks, and some though not all of the incidental music and prose-readings are missing. But it is a different performance, and Kate and the band are in unusually fine form. The sound is boomy on the bottom and weak on the treble, but it still manages to create a strong atmosphere and presence, and the album, overall, is considerably more listenable than, say, the Paris concert bootlegs, which have extremely muffled and distant sound. "Moving" is extremely beautiful and ethereal in this performance.
I have edited this one by adding more treble making it less boomy. This comes from a direct rip of the vinyl that I bought many years ago. Kate's live shows are extremely rare, so I thought you would enjoy it. -ldb

Thanks for some Kate Bush Dave been a fan of hers for a long time and obtaining any live recording of her is always a rare treat! Thanks also to the anonymous who mentioned the scratches and crackles I will have to use my restoration software before I burn this one. I have a tendency to burn to disc before giving something a listen first so thanks for the heads up!

Finally getting a chance to listen to this one and work on cleaning things up as mentioned in my previous comment. Upon initial listen, yes there is a lot of crackles, scratches and a fair amount of hiss from the vinyl source but I've finished cleaning 4 tracks so far and it's going smoothly. I haven't cleaned them to the point where you lose that nice rich vinyl sound, but have eliminated enough of the "noise" to allow for a much more enjoyable listen. I also thought there was a slight flatness to the sound so I've tweaked the EQ a bit and expanded the dynamics of the sound a touch again not to the point of it sounding too cleaned up but for a much more enjoyable listen. I will work on the rest of the tracks and then burn to CD for my collection. Despite all of the crackles and pops and hiss I still feel this is a must have for any Kate Bush fan and would still burn it in its raw state even if I didn't have any restoration software at my disposal. It is a great and rare performance...thanks again Dave!!!
