Thanks, Dave! You're awesome for posting this. Can't to see what other goodies you have for us. :-D

Love the blog, but don't quite understand the download system. Why are they all split up? How do folks download these files in a timely manner? I keep hitting my download limit and having to wait to finish. Also, how do you combine them after they are downloaded? Sorry for the (probably dumb) questions. Just looking forward to enjoying some of this, but can't seem to make it work. Any help is much appreciated and thanks.

Matthew,

You have to first download every files. Then, you unzip them by double clicking on the first file. This is at least how I do it on my Mac. To speed up your download process, you may open an account with rapidshare or megaupload. I have a rapidshare premium account (not very expensive) that allows me to download 30Gigs per month, with unlimited simultaneous downloads (Very convenient). Most unzip audio files are in a FLAC format. Some are in SHN. You may need an application to convert them to your prefer format (MP3, MP4, Wave, etc). I use Max, a very good free application running on Mac. You can also play FLAC files directly with applications such as VLC.

Good luck

They are split into 100 MB chunks because Rapidshare likes that size file. Actually, you can go up to 200 MB, but thats another story. Want to avoid the wait? Pay for an account or up Megauploads, they don't make you wait. Once you've downloaded all the pieces, double click on the first one and Winrar will do the rest. Now, do you know how to convert the flac files to wav files? I use Foobar 2000. Happy listening!

Thanks guys! Makes sense. I just need to find a FLAC conversion program for Windows 7. I'm sure that won't be hard. Much appreciated fellas!

Matthew....download Trader's Little Helper. I have XP, although it should work on Windows 7 as well. It will let you convert from SHN to FLAC and if you need to convert from lossless to lossy for whatever reason, you can go from SHN/FLAC/WAV to mp3. There's no spyware/malware and it takes up little to no space on your hard drive.

I swear by it. There were a ton of boots I couldn't listen to because I couldn't convert from SHN to a format my VLC Media Player would recognize.

Matthew,

You should try playing a file/song while it still is in FLAC & see if your media player supports it as is. I know mine (VLC) does & FLAC files take up less space than WAV while still giving you the lossless sound (to say nothing about not having to take an extra step/time converting them to a different format).

Thanks for this Dave. I had a MP3 version of the album that I've been waiting to replace when I had a chance to do so.
