Thank you for posting the Motor City Madman at the top of his game.

Back in the late 70's and for ever after we UK punkrockers held Mr Nugent in the highest contempt.
By all accounts, what a rabid reactionary survivalist pillock..etc..etc..

Recently I was curious and bored enough to test my cultural prejudices and sample a remaster of one of his 'defining' CD's,
probably considered his best from the vintage rock era..

Glad I did, I was completely impressed by the brilliance of his guitar playing.
The riffs were everything good rock should strive to achieve.
But the best surprise was his guitar tone. Exactly what I have been trying for years to aim for with my amps and gain boosters.
He is an absolutely spot on tone reference benchmark..

But The man himself.. probably still deserving of his reputaion as a vile prize pillock ????

more Ted coming soon.
I am sure that most of us can say that we would not want the personalities of the musicians that we enjoy...exceptions noted of course.
Musicianship as well as other art expression tends - by its intrinsic nature - to draw from the fringe.
This is not in and of itself a bad thing - many wonderful people are not in the "mainstream" of society.

Please hear this: this is just a personal observance and not meant to injure anyone's feelings. I hold many friends dear to me that many would easily "cast-off".

In the case of Ted Nugent, his antics precede him but his ability to play guitar does as well.

have a great weekend!
Dave

Well said Dave. Musicians without that gleam in their eye that proclaims to all that they are a wild man (or in this case a madman...) are the ones that come up with bland, over-processed 'pop' or 'rock' & wouldn't know how to jam with others if their life depended on it.

Those that do have that gleam in their eye are the ones who come up with the most innovative stuff & drive music forward in a direction possibly not heard before. You just have to make sure they don't find out that you have a sister...

Ignoring all of that semi-deep thinking stuff, it's Friday afternoon & time to rock. This offering of The Nuge at his personal zenith will fit the bill perfectly. Thanks & have a good weekend.

God bless Uncle Ted and QB! BIG fan of the 1981 / Intensities material and *everything* prior to it - Once '82 rolled around, there was a bit of carrot-chasing going on, which doesn't have the same piss-and-vinegar of all prior.

I was at this show. Some asswipe with a wrist rocket shot out Ted's front teeth, ending the show prematurely. That's why there's no Great White Buffalo. We didn't know why the show was cut early until the local FM rock station (KY102) announced what had happened.
