This recording should not be confused with the series labelled "The Dan Lampinski
Tapes Volume XX". This recording represents part of Dan's earliest efforts to capture the live concert experience for posterity, hence the series name "Dan Lampinski - The Early Years Volume XX". Given the very consistent high quality of Dan's later work, it would have been easy to blow off these recordings and consign them to the dust bin of history, but there are quite a few captures in the series that are well worth circulating, if not for their rarity, but for the obsessive collector types (we know who we are) that want every single second of any recordings of their favourite musicians. So please, just accept these recordings for what they are, another part of the tapestry we weave when we collect and share such things.
Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel
free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.
Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.
This transfer is 16bit/44.1KHz flac files suitable for CD burning. Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you.

I noticed some time ago there was no music here from Van.
I have quite a few live recordings with him but as luck would have it, I don't have this one.
I look forward to downloading it.

It would be a shame if this were to disappear, it's a rare chance to hear a great artist/performer in a very different context. Here the man does many of the same trax he'd been doing with the big 'too late to stop now' band from the previous year but with a small stripped down combi. Also a few trax from the brilliant 'Veedon Fleece' album of the same year. The best treat of all here is the increased emphasis on his excellent harmonica playing. Totally unique, it was never like this, before or since

Let's just hope the Sheriff is out of town chasing the bad guys, or alternatively that Van himself has has=d a moment of 'enlightenment' and decided to join us all in the 21st century.
I wouldn't mind SO much if he'd put the damn things out himself, I've been trying to get a copy of his epic '87 Glastonbury set in lossless now for about ten years!!

I hope this stays up long enough for me to get home tonight and download it... I'm a fanatic for all Van Morrison and would love any you can post. I have all his regular albums -- often on both vinyl and CD -- so these boots really help round out his story.
Gosh I didn't have the guts to ask outright! Still if you should stumble across it, it is an absolute gem of a performance and recording too. Van's attitude is such a shame. I mean for a man who willingly has done (and continues to do) so many performances on radio etc in the interests of promotion (and payment too!) and then to get so sniffy when genuine fans just want to trade and share them. Just ridiculous! I think the man is still living in 1985. For further proof check the racks of your local CD store and see his 24 bit remasters with their miserable and miserly selection of bonus trax sitting unloved and unwanted in the bargain racks. My budget reissue vinyl from the 80s sounds far better too

Thanks - I like this period in Van's career. It's not very well documented (officially) either, apsrt from some tracks on The Philosopher's Stone.
