“This quasi-legal compilation of 26 BBC performances from the late 1960s, in reasonable to excellent fidelity, shows The Move's astonishing versatility and range of influences. Ten of these are live-in-the-studio run-throughs of original material, including most of their early British hits – ‘Night of Fear’, ‘Fire Brigade’, ‘Flowers in the Rain’, ‘I Can Hear the Grass Grow’ and ‘Blackberry Way’. More interesting from a historical perspective are the 16 covers, showing an eclectic range that must have been the equal of any major group of the time – The Byrds, Simon & Garfunkel, Tim Rose, Love, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, Neil Diamond, Jackie Wilson, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Moby Grape and The Beach Boys all come in for The Move's accomplished chunky rock, harmony-laden treatment. The covers of The Byrds' ‘Goin' Back’ and Paul Simon's ‘Sounds of Silence’ are particularly nifty. It's not recommended to anyone except serious fans, but that small audience could hardly wish for a better collection of rarities from the group's salad days.

BTW, that first collection was indeed released as a quasi-legit comp, but the quasi-one did not include "Sounds of Silence." Since this one does, then it's a copy of "Black Country Rock" bootleg (which pre-dates the quasi-one).

The first disc is indeed 'Black Country Rock'. Not sure why the notes describe it as 'quasi-legal' - it was an out-and out boot and sold as such at the time. The later 'BBC Sessions' release which contains all bar one of these tracks was 100% official and released on the Beeb's own 'Strnage Fruit' label. It is long out of print now though, sadly.

To "sydfloyd," it's the allegedly "Beeb" CD that's not exactly legit. Yes, BCRock is a boot. To date, the Beeb Move stuff has not been legitimately released, though a comp is supposedly in the works (but this is going on years).

Can anyone provide instructions as to how to decode these CUE Image Files to separate WAV tracks??
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks . . .
I'm on a Mac, I used xAct to convert ape to aiff (or wave), then used Switch to convert aiff to mp3. They're both free.
Then I used Fission to split the mp3 into separate tracks with the Cue file.
My brother uses Goldwave on Windows, I don't know if it does ape files, it seems to do everything else.

You can easily use Roxio or Nero to burn a CD from a cue file.

@anon: Not often I can help with tech issues. On a PC I used two separate programs. Medival cue splitter and Monkeys Audio (both available for free). Drag and drop cue folder into cue splitter to get individual tracks. Then use monkeys audio to convert each track to listenable file.
To Anonymous, how can the 'Beeb' CD on Strange Fruit be anything BUT legitimate - it was issued by the BBC for God's sake! Also, read the notes with this download again - it is 'Black Country Rock' that is described as 'quasi-legit'!!!
Has anyone had an issue with Christian Life track which sounds like a jumping CD? Pity as it is fab, very close to Gram Byrds but even more tongue in cheek. If .rar (which one)could be re-upped, maybe could be a fix, maybe not? Fantastic quality on some of this! ps use koyote free convertor for this file, piss easy to use. Dave, stunning again.

Dude, use the Cue file to split 'em into separate songs.
Why? If the instructions for doing so were written in standard English, then I would attempt it. But they're usually witten in cyber-lingo. I can't understand the terminologies, mainly because I wasn’t born clutching a copy of Windows 95 like most of the people out there were. And since the writers of these cue files make no endeavor to provide a code book, then what can I do? I can convert and play all forms of codecs okay, but that's about it. I'll just skip this one and look at the rest. This is a real nice blog here. Plenty of Lossless! Thanks for your suggestion anyway.

Been a Move fanatic since Night of Fear, but their rare NYC appearances were often no shows (One incredible Filmore East show was Move, (the original)Small Faces, and Jeff Beck. First two cancelled, and that's called sad.)
Great "Army" appearance in NYC 2002 (see it on YouTube) with the luscious Naylor Twins.
That said, I managed to figure out the ape with the cue, but it wasn;t fun or easy. With my Mac, I used MAX to convert the APE to FLAC (if you spell it backwards, it's an Ape to a Calf!!!) and then used XLD with the CUE file to convert the single FLAC file into multiple songs. Is there some reason for this Ape-sh*t?!?! Toast (the best Mac burner) won't do the conversion, and this is several extra steps plus a learning curve with minimalist instructions. Please tell me why this is better. (Wish they would make a Nero for Mac, but I doubt they ever will... Toast can't handle subtitle files on a dvd burn either.)
Maybe there could be a vote on the home page in favor of the old FLAC or the new gobbledygook.
