If I assume correctly that you left, why?

(Not being accusatory; just curious.)

to go to college, then married, then traveled out of state (X11) with the company that I worked for (Best Buy).
We finally settled down in North Dakota - my wife's home state.
We already had snow 3 days ago! Ugh!!

Dolby on for recording, but Dolby off for playback - isn't that wrong?

I could never quite figure out how to use dolby. Dolby NR was supposed to cut frequency bands in order to eliminate tape hiss. When the dolby encoded tape was played back with Dolby on, The tape hiss was supposed
to be eliminated. The problem was the audio that was played back sounded flat with dolby on. Poor dolby circuitry on consumer level equiptment caused this. Better not to use it at all. Commercial tapes were encoded with pro dolby circuitry. That is why they sounded good when played on all brands of tape decks.
