yes, Prefabfan, the idea is crazy, but quite true! Of course, he is not alone. Sheila E is drumming right along side of him.
Ringo does not play in all the songs performed by the band, as I noticed in a tape recorded during the first All Starr formation. So, maybe this is the case here. I like Ringo's style a lot, but playing Karn Evil its not his metier, technical skills not being evaluated here. It's like (a bizarre example) Keith Moon drumming for Yes. A great drummer, a great band, but...do not match.
Anyway, I hear most of this show and is indeed quite good - the sound, performances, etc. and Ringo, of course, is a showman.

I have been to a few Ringo All Starr Shows and I think Ringo is one of the smartest guys around, because he doesn't try to play on every song, he doesn't try and be the ego-maniac hogging every song.. he knows when to leave the stage and let the guest artists take over, then return to play along, then sing a couple of his own songs, then play along with another guest's songs, then leave for a while..e.tc... those shows are so entertaining and Ringo knows how to put them together and have a good time doing it :)
