From a BBC perspective this collection omitts 'scene special' jan 67, 'set the controls' from the radio Carlisle July 67, 'set the controls' from 3 nov 68, the complete top gear session from 2 dec 68, and the 2 trax from 'Omnibus' 10 july 69.
What's really interesting is that this leaves no version of 'set the controls' on the 4 disc set, maybe the compiler just doesn't like the song!
Very interesting collection though and a different take on some familiar stuff, I'm interested to see how the sound qual compares to the HRV and Bedrock BBC releases.
It's such a nice collection it's gonna get some playing regardless

Hmmm, there's supposed to be a massive lightning storm rolling through tonight. Maybe I'll point the speakers out the window & sit outside watching the light show & listening to the soundtrack for it.
(too bad I don't have/use any mind altering chemicals any longer.... lol. I suppose a glass of Makers Mark will have to do ;-) ).

But it's définitively not the first performance of Dark side of the moon ! The first real performance was january the 20th 1972 !

Rapidshare files are not complete. If you download file 17 from Megaupload, and rename it with an underscore before COX in the filename, you can extract the whole series - worked for me, at least :-)

There was a thread on it on Y where the consensus seemed to be that this set contains nothing new, unfortunately. Astronomy is the version from LOTW and Reaction In G (Stoned Alone)is just taken from Copenhagen gig, not Danish TV.
It's new to some and old to others, either way thank you very much for providing us with it.

It seems, at least at first listen, that the Rainbow is from the legendary Best of Tour '72 (We did it for you) LP. "Us & Them" is about 2:38 on each of them, fading out just past "It's not what we would choose to do.." missing most of the track. So it ain't no BBC soundboard. There is now a "complete & restored" Tour '72 where someone has carefully added the missing parts from another tape. ("Us & Them" now clocks in at over 6 minutes) available as a download somewhere.
Tour '72 is an all time favorite LP of mine. Allegedly sold between 100 and 120,000 copies, which I sincerely doubt, but I know it made Floyd nervous, coming so long before they recorded it. Nice shiney laminated cover like regular British LP's of the time, real quality job. I always liked that version of DSOM, saying, "No sax please, we're British!"
Haven't got to listen to all of the rest. "Massed Gadgets of Hercules" should, of course, be called "Massed gadgets of Auximenies". Cool name, one of those things you used to always see on want lists like it was some kind of Holy Grail.
