"World Champion Drummer" -EVSD
Lineage: Someone else's silvers>CDR>EAC test and copy(no errors)>WAV>flac
frontend encode level 6 and test>FLACS
Very enjoyable audience rec. IMO. EV achieved a nice full sound on this release of a great performance.
Art included.

Disc 1:
1-We're gonna Groove(cuts in)
2-Dazed & Confused
3-Heartbreaker
4-Bring it on Home (fixed below)
5-White Summer/Black Mountainside

Disc 2:
1-Since I've Been Loving You
2-Organ Solo
3-Thank You
4-What Is and What Should Never Be
5-Moby Dick

Here are G. Sparaco's notes from bootreview: Led Zeppelin's spring 1970 tour is bursting with confidence and swagger, probably riding a high from Led Zeppelin II 's reaching number one and causing much comment for knocking The Beatles' Abbey Road out of the number one spot on the charts. For such a strong tour there are very few very good tapes available. This tape has been released several times before as Fearsome Four Live On Stage (Mandala), Groove (Tarantura), We're Gonna Rock (Blimp) and American Accents (Baby Face). Two tracks, "Bring It On Home" and "organ solo/Thank You" were lifted from the Mandala release for the famous Cabala box set. It was a good and listenable tape which was very loud. "Bring It On Home,” sounded like a battle with Bonham's drums fighting Jimmy's guitar.
World Champion Drummer! is, compared to the Mandala release, a dramatic improvement in sound quality. I would rate the older versions a six at best. Empress Valley boosted the volume without any distortion to make this a solid nine and makes this arguably the finest document from this tour, and this concert definitely deserves such treatment. There are no negatives to this except that "How Many More Times" and "Whole Lotta Love" are still missing. After the opening number Plant says, "That was a thing called 'Groove' which we intend to do and we hope you as well, so get loose!" "White Summer" is played by the "pale Jimmy Page". "We've done things from Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin II, we'd like to do one thing from Led Zeppelin III" Plant explains before another early version of "Since I've Been Loving You", six months before the album's actual release. A girl in the audience shrieks and Plant responds: "Thank you, have a gargle." Bonham's drums still sound massive making both "Bring It On Home" and "Moby Dick" particularly effective.
Empress Valley and all the previous releases claim this is from April 7th in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was demonstrated several years ago through the discovery of ads and handbills that Zeppelin played in Charlotte on April 7th. The Raleigh show was the following night, April 8th. There is no mention of the location or venue on the tape, but this isn't the Charlotte show since an eyewitness to that show posted his observations on the Electric Magic website and they do not correspond with this tape. So it's definitely Raleigh but on April 8th instead of April 7th as posted on the artwork. Other than the date, everything else about this release is fantastic and is another EV release worth having. IMHO You just need everything from this particular tour you can get your hands on!
This is the best release of this show IMHO, The tone here is superior to the 'Hendricks 1st gen tape' version.. Same source I think, so it seeems EVSD have done a really good job on this one!
Thanks Dave

Long time,no speak.
I also having been waiting for this one...for about a year since I wrote to you of about 1+ dozen perennial 'Bests" from the Led Zeppelin Baker's Dozen list.
Worth noting:
Side 1 Track 4 is corrupted...tried with 2 downloads (Megaupload links).
I Can use Flac 1.2 to decode to a wav,ONLY if the decode thru errors option is checked.
only then can DBpowerAmp handle the file.

Thank you for this much wanted release.

FURTHER TO ABOVE

Track 4 is aloso corrupt on RS, TLH will not decode even with 'thru errors' selected.
Just tried method above from ericjmz (thank you) and works but reultant wav file is cut at 5:33and is actually smaller than the source flac.
By the way this is a 'much wanted' release here too, long been one of my all time favourite zep performances. BIG THANKS AS ALWAYS

in an earlier post this week, i recall Dave saying something about being 'out of town' this weekend & any required fixes will completed once he returns (after Monday, Nov 8th?) Thanks for the warning. =D

Yeah Man, Dave's on vacation in Nashville visiting his bro. He won't be able to fix the defect until he gets back. So in the mean time just chill, and enjoy all the other great music that's available. Thanks and Peace!

Hi Dave--I know when you read this you will be back from that really cool looking place you went to. I just wanted to thank you for the Bridge Show uploads and so many others, if you only knew how much my musical taste and eclectic collection has grown due to you (as well as to all who stop by and support you). Thanks again, now get back to work and fix this one ;) Thank you!!!

Thanks for this, been wanting thos version,

Could you try and fix/repost Disc 1 Track 04: Bring It On Home.

File is corrupted,

Thanks...

Why does it matter?

Led Zeppelin is the most overrated band in the history of rock and roll.

Anonymous said...

No pressure Dave, but in anticipation to the fix of this show I've "pre-clicked"

Also that corrupted Achilles Last Stand track:( from Running On Pure Heart & Soul needs addressing.

The EYE THANK YEW post that is missing 2 of the 4 cds curiously was never responded to?

Don't get me wrong. Allways grateful for the Zeppelin. And It's obvious even to me that I could never be a diplomat, but this is my version of a gentle reminder;)

Could you try and just post 'Bring It On Home' please if possible, no need for a complete reup, thanks....

Dave will not be back from vacation until Nov 9th, so don't hold your breath.

Dave,

I only post this here as I know you're working on a fix for song#4 here (corrupted).
However...just a handful of LedZep posts back many noted to you that (from: "Led Zeppelin: Mannheim 1980 (Soundboard) FLAC")...

...you post only 2 of the 4 disks, which may be misdated at that.

That is a pretty desirable Tarantura LedZep release and a fix would be appreciated by many,no doubt.

Thank you (again)
