The tape originated from Bell Sound Studios in New York City and was given by Hilary Gerrard from the Apple Office on 54 St. James's Street in London to WNEW-FM in New York City as an advanced promo for Badfinger's next LP. It appears that the tape was never played.
On March 2, 1971 a rough mix of the entire proposed new LP was prepared in England, then Badfinger travelled to the U.S. for their 2nd tour. This tape contains the mixes that were intended for side 2 of the original Straight Up album, except that Mike's song "Loving You" is missing and a slightly different mix of "Perfection" is included instead. The alternate mix of "Perfection" fades out earlier and the synthesizer is dropped from the mix earlier and the harmonica overdub is brought in sooner than on the final mix.
It wasn't until 9 months later that the final Straight Up LP would be released in the U.S.A. 4 of these songs were released in 1993 as bonus tracks on the "Straight Up" CD release.

Already have this, but always glad to see some Badfinger. If you have any more to shaer, would be appreciated (especially interested in the 3-CD set from the "Tom Evans" version circa 1982 entitled "Would The Real Badfinger Please Stand Up").

Dave, many of these files test as high probability of mpeg source in Traders Little Helper. Are these lossy or lossless?

Hey , i checked cuz of the anonymous claims of traders little helper tests,, however, even if my results were the same (and hey it happens, y'know, either from errors, bad mixes without hi-end, or if it's sourced from an old boot).. i mean, don'tcha all remember *before* the internet, when you had to run quality bootlegs that you bought on either vinyl or tape, through EQ to make them even listenable?)..
So regardless of the results he's got.. keep in mind, that the best source for all these tracks, is the remaster box sets from , say , Apple. I've replaced a LOT of the tracks in my boots with upgrades from these officially released sets..
OK , it takes TIME.. it means you have to sit down and LISTEN to every boot to make sure the remaster is the same track as the one needing replacement.. but isn't that why you collect Boots in the first place, the nuances?
