minimax master-series #216
C'mon, give me some comments on this one. Comments, comments, comments!!
Master - Audience recording
Taped with Zoom H4N and its included mikrophones.
Location: on the booomboom-position-memorial-point; exact 10,27 meters from the stage on step 2 in the middle of the Gloria.
The Gloria is an old and beautiful cinema in the heart of the famous Domstadt Köln, located opposite the old-eingesessen Tanz-Studio, a few meters distance from the other old-eingesessen Wild+Geflügel-shop Gustav Brock and of course the old-eingessen Filz Gnoss-shop.
(Don't miss to visit them on your next concert-trip over to Köln!)
Parking-location: about 23 meters left from the Gloria, in the parking-house Meixner at the Apostelnstrasse 1-3.
Parking-costs: 10,00 Euros (!!!!Horror!!!)(Secret number for getting into the parking-house after the show: ****)
Sound-quality: excellent -
Sound in the hall during the concert: excellent
Show: The Waterboys played a very powerfull set. The first part of the show saw them playing some their back-catalogue. After a short 25 minutes break they came back to play parts of the album "An appointment with Mr Yeats" and then they came back for two more fantastic encore-sets.
Audience: fanatic, very quiet on some quiet parts of the show. Only a few orgasm.., ah, orgiasti.., ah, you know what I mean, women behind me screaming and behaving like teens.
Catering: one Pretzel and a Snic**** (I'm not getting sponsored by them, so: no name for this product up here)
Tapers-critic of this concert: Köln saw a great and powerfull return of The Waterboys, an audience who gave them stunning applause on various songs. It seemed that the audience wasn't much into the "new" record but liked it very much as Mr Scott and Band played it well.
This torrent includes some self-baked, strange artwork, hope you like it. Do not sell. For trading only!!..and for fun!! Go to their concerts. Buy their records. Support the artists.

Haven't acquainted myself with this band much before, but here is a pre-comment: thanks a lot, looking forward to it. And promise: if it is good I will leave another thank you when I have listened to some of it.
Been there, done that - downloaded, listened and liked :-). So it has been added to double my collection of Waterboys. Thanks a lot. Always appreciate another dose of good music, well recorded.

Here are some comments - There are not enough Waterboys bootlegs here or on the boards generally. Like this a lot, like all the waterboys i've ever heard/collected. Great looking setlist from one of the UK's most under appresiated bands and one of our very best songwriters.
Here's another comment in the form of a request - Can we have some more please? I'm still continuing my life quest to find a listenable recording of their epic Glastonbury set from 1989, but anything from any era is always greatly appreciated.
Can't wait to hear this one
Big thanks as always
Couldn't agree more... there are nowhere near enough Waterboys bootlegs out there! Downloading this now and CAN'T WAIT! Was in the middle of the 4th row at Hammersmith on Sunday night and can tell you it was, as always, truly wonderful! Never been let down seeing The Waterboys, only ever let up!!
First time I heard of them was when a bunch of the guys I was camping with at Glastonbury 1989 ran off to see them. Some of us stayed behind and listened from the tents. At the time I thought, "Sounds good..." but as the years have worn on I've increasingly regretted not joining them! Saw them in the Acoustic Tent a few years ago... I don't remember it being particularly acoustic though! I think it was when Mike was going through one of his "I've got an electric guitar and I'm damn well going to use it" phases!
Could talk about The Waterboys all night...
Anon replies - I'm dead jealous now!!
Was at the front for that Glastonbury gig though - been there all day for Van, Black Uhuru et al. Lasted about 2 songs after your mates and several thousand others steamed in and the pogoing kicked off as the Waterboys opened up with 'on my way up to heaven'. I got carried back thru the crowd (don't remember my feet touching the ground) and ended up falling out of the back of the crowd, landing on my ____ and staring up at a blue glastonbury sky next to the mixing desk!!
Some gig though, never seen so many mandolins in one place.
I have a tape of it i picked up at Camden market a week or two later but it is the worst kind of audience tape, just so rough and distant that nothing can be done with it - God knows i've tried.
Dave - More Waterboys PLEASE
Big thanks as always
ps I saw some ex but brief footage from a recent Glastonbury on the telly but I remember it being outside. There was also a fab appearance on the Jools Holland TV show in the last series
