Megaupload no longer exists. Officials of the company say that they will "vigorously defend" all accusations brought against them and they will "return to business" when the dust settles.
Translation: "We are so busted, please give us a plea deal that will allow us to keep most of our things and not go to prison and we will crawl under a rock never to be seen again."
I am keeping the megaupload links on my site in case of a "miracle" but I think that we have all seen the last of Megaupload. (Note: Because I try to upload a few days in advance, you will still continue to see megaupload links appearing on my site for a few more weeks but soon that will end).
Fileserve has suspended my account. All fileserve links are dead. Apparently this is a knee-jerk proactive step of theirs aimed at keeping their site from being seized as well. Many other bloggers have had the same action taken against them.
I am going with Filepost as a secondary upload source. I have caught up on the last few days' posts and all future posts will contain the Filepost option as well. If you wish to go premium I ask that you be so kind as to use the referral link provided at the top/right-hand side of the blog.
I will attempt to bring a few more past posts up to date with a Filepost option but only as time allows. My focus will remain on the future. Let's hope that this is the end of blog issues for the foreseeable future. Thanks for the clicks!

I hope RapidShare stays a float! I had a memorial video I did for a friend who passed away recently pulled from Facebook because I used 2 Beatles songs for background music under the pictures I had. Bravo Sierra my friends!
Great job, Dave. You do an awesome job and I am happy to keep clicking as things change and you use different server options. Thanks for everything!!
Megaupload would probably have been immune from the DOJ action had it not been for their servers in Virginia.
I imagine that any "locker" company will very quickly remove any USA-based activity sites.
I do foresee a huge ripple effect that will eventually see many more seizures and shutdowns in the near future.
Until then...grab the boots while you can still get 'em.
Hmmmm...might be time to think about going Torrent.
Filesonic has also gone to bed. Only personal uploads and downloads. No sharing links.
Good luck to the future. Many, many thanks for all.
Gracias! Appreciate all your efforts on our behalf...so many headaches. You are a true giver!
Thought you guys should read this if you haven't yet

If you pay for fileserve or filesonic, get your money back...now.
It's the beginning of the end folks. Ten years from now we'll look back on these days with fading glory. "Remember when the internet was free and open?"
My advise, grab all you can now, because the future belongs to the bureaucrats.
Thanks Dave for the update and continuing to make your blog the best out there. Your site and a few others have introduced me to so many phenomenal artists and music that I would have never known about had it not been for sites such as yours. I see sites such as this as a benefit to the artist, because at least speaking for myself, I actively seek out and purchase the official releases from musicians that until being introduced to them here and elsewhere I never would have even looked for them. Oh well there will always be those that don't see it that way.
I sincerely hope that this isn't the beginning of the end for the "file lockers" they have been a very fast and reliable way to download; personally I have never been a fan of torrents. Filepost is an excellent choice for a second server and lets hope Rapidshare continues to be as user friendly as its been. Anyway, thanks again Dave for all the hard work and time you put in to this awesome blog...YOU ROCK!!!
Good news for now. I read today that Rapidshare plans to stay put and not go anywhere. Here's what the folks at RS posted on their facebook page today:
-------
Dear RapidShare fans,You posted some comments on our wall today regarding the shutdown of Megaupload. There is no reason to be concerned. We distinguish ourselves from services like Megaupload in many major issues and we aren’t threatened in any way. One of the main differences between RapidShare and Megaupload is that we never wanted to escape from the legal access of any administration.
RapidShare AG was founded in Switzerland, was always based at the address cited in the imprint and was always managed with an authentic name without any anonymous intermediary companies. The drastic measures against Megaupload were obviously seen as necessary by the FBI because the situation was different there. We wish you a great time with RapidShare!
----------
Let's hope they're right.
Hi Dave, thx for aal the good work.
Just want to let you know Filepost has an awesome slow download speed here (26 KB/sec).
RapidShare is now the voice of reason? Who would have ever thunk?
Dave, I've said it many times through the years but want to say it at least once more in case things disappear in a puff of smoke - thanks for all your time & work into making QB what it is. I can't even begin to count the number of bands/groups that had vanished from the music scene before I came along & yet through here, they've become favorites. I hope that I can continue to thank you for many years to come but if not, it's been one hell of a ride.
One thing that does make me somewhat optimistic for the future is what I've heard/read about the MU folks. In addition to the usual things that 'locker' companies do, the higher ups not only actively posted pirated 'official' movies/music/etc themselves but they also paid other people to do so too. If that is the case then they are rightfully in a world of hurt. If the other companies are doing as they are required to do under the DMCA & removing things when notified and are acting strictly as a locker (& not posting things themselves), then hopefully they will be able to somehow weather this storm & survive. The key is just to be able to make it through this time of overreaction on all sides of the issue.
It's a rather thin thread to be hanging by, but at the moment it's all we've got. Time will tell. Good luck to us all...
Side note: filesonic and uploaded are running scared. At The moment filesonic isn't allowing any downloads and only allowing uploaders access who have files stored there. Uploaded is not allowing anyone from the US access. I am happy to see Rapidshare is standing strong!
I will never be able to show my gratitude for all the music I have grabbed from your blog but I will continue to try. I've never seen anyone as generous as you in regard to the amount of time (and patience) it must take to keep this place going. No matter what happens, I hope that QualityBootz will continue in some shape or form. Thank you Dave.

Just unbelievable!

Thanks Dave!
To me, the story below may be more scary than the MU debacle. This from the last paragraph of the story:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/law/2012/jan/13/tvshack-student-founder-extradition?newsfeed=true
In July the agency's assistant deputy director told the Guardian that ICE would now actively pursue websites similar to TVShack even if their only connection to the US was a website address ending in .com or .net. Such suffixes are routed through Verisign, an internet infrastructure company based in Virginia, which the agency believes is sufficient to seek a US prosecution.
Dear Dave,
I've already tried to get an answer on "Report problems" link but you did not reply. My question:
blog http://www.qualityboots.net was also yours or not? I'm missing it very much and I wonder if it would be brought to life again.
Yours is also fantastic but boots suited more to my needs.
Best,
Greg
Here's hoping they don't take rapid down, & even more importantly usenet.

Yep, there's your Facebook. Probably the most lame company ever.
Lots of traffic on sites now about this action and the resulting shockwaves. I feel for sites like T.U.B.E. that rely heavily on both FileServer and FileShare for a lot of their storage.
Dave, whatever happens, we owe you more than we can EVER repay for what you've given us over the years. If these be the Glory Days, then so be it. Sharing will continue in other forms and B00tz will always be readily available from somewhere.
Keep up the good work for as long as you can!
Maybe time to start investigating some Japan or Korean file lockers?
So file hosts are deleting ALL files, legal or not?
Funny, but I thought there was a difference between legal and illegal.
Silly me.
Thanks for hanging in there Dave. We will weather this storm and develop other and perhaps better ways to share live music and grow the community that embraces it. Your site has turned me on to a number of bands and replaced lots of crappy MP3's with the real deal.
When I prepare them I will give you a some recordings that I made. Monsters of Rock 88 Philly for one.
QB is the best!
qualityboots.net was never mine. obviously someone was trying to ride a wave that they didn't paddle to.
Thanks Dave for the answer.
My friend from US kept claiming that it had the same owner when I asked him for any contact when "boots" disappeared.
Now is clear: another shot down.
Do try to keep afloat.
Best,
Greg
