November 1974 (probably the 16th since they were in Ok. city on 11/14, the Univ. of Texas in Austin, Texas on 11/15 and Baton Rouge, La. on 11/17. they played in Monroe, La. on 11/19 so maybe they played Dallas on the 18th? but probably not.
this show is definitely in Dallas since Todd says it's their 1st show in Dallas.)

recorded by J.C. (thank you for sharing the 1st gen. copy in the late 1970's) Do not sell this recording. Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly. This thing's lost enough already after 36+ years.
OU: the recording is quite heavy on the bass and lower midrange frequencies, typical of a large room and an old small tape recorder audience tape. probably recorded not very close to the stage, so it's a you're sorta kinda there production, but it's listenable. and the ikon goes on for 45 minutes. it's prime Todd, and the show isn't even listed in a commonly referred to todd rundgren giglisting found at: http://home.comcast.net/mrrandom/tourtoddr.html and could probably stand some EQ by someone who knows how to do it right.
this was not the same setlist as the early 1974 utopia shows, or even as late as October which had Freedom Fighters and some had Freak Parade, but not "the ikon". this version is the longest one I've ever heard of the ikon (even minus the minute or so, if that, of WGGYAW). the sound is not that great but the music is really nice. apparently the masters were also done on 60 minute tapes (not a good idea on this tour, but at least it's close to the full show) if burning to CD, best to start CD 2 with track 6 (the ikon) which will not fit on an 80 min. disc in sequential order on CD one. the track starts with Todd talking about it.

BTW, it looks like as of today, RS is once again monkeying with free DLs. In fact, it looks like they are not *allowing* free DLs at all, and trying to get everyone to go Premium.

I agree that it is nice for us to be able to download files for free from services like RapidShare. But think of it from their point of view. They are not a community of music fans like we are here on this AWESOME blog – they are a business. So why wouldn’t they try to do what they can to steer folks away from their free service and into a paid plan?
Just another perspective to keep in mind. In other words, I see it the opposite way – RapidShare has long allowed me to download many, many files for free, so I am grateful for that. I hope it can continue!
Enough T.R.! Lets get back to the Rush top ten!

Just a little FYI - if this show is indeed from November 1974, then it's not Jean Yves Labat on synths & horns (especially since Labat never played horn). Roger Powell joined TR's Utopia in the summer of '74.
Thank you very much for all these todd shows. I just found the tape i made of the concert in The Hague (Holland) on october 12, 1975. The sound quality after all these years is not so good. If there is anyone interested I can send the cd of it and perhaps with all the possibilities nowadays you can make it sound better.
