From the original compiler:
- On the "Rockline 2003" show, someone called in and asked the band for the history behind this disc, and Bun E. Carlos gave the explanation. The "In Color" album was produced by Tom Werman, but the band always felt that Werman screwed up the album. "He made it safe for radio, but the album sounds like it was done in a cardboard box." So about five years ago [late 1990s] they were in the studio hanging around with the producer Steve Albini, and had nothing to do for a few days, so they said "Yeah, that would be fun to redo that." So they started re-recording the songs. They have not finished it yet, haven't gotten all the harmonies or instruments on it yet, but someday they might finish it and piggyback release it as a bonus disc with something else.

Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978. His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity. In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes. He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings. In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.
He recorded many of the major 70's bands: Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as several "under the radar" acts.
Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.
Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.
Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you. Kev & Carl June 2009

"EL Source"
*This recording is said to come from a master recording, but there is some noticeable hiss. This may be from the age and condition of the recording. The comparison to "Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen" reveals that this is a brighter recording without any processing, while WWC is the victim of some heavy NR. It also appears that WWC runs too fast. the fidelity of the instruments is quite good especially for the vintage but the vocals are absolutely lost in the background.

This transfer is available as 16bit/44.1KHz flac files suitable for CD burning.
Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you.

“GUARANTEED FAILSAFE”
In January 1997, IQ began work on "Subterranea", their sixth studio album and without doubt their most ambitious project to date. The 105-minute 2 CD set would form the basis for a completely new stage show. "After we'd finally managed to release "Forever Live", we didn't really want to release a single studio album", explained Mike Holmes. "We felt it would have been a bit of an anticlimax after the quality and standard of the boxed set. We also had quite a bit of material kicking around".
Peter Nicholls: "When we were writing "Subterranea:, I came across loads of old rehearsal tapes with ideas that we'd never finished because we'd got sidetracked by something else. There was an awful lot of material there that we felt we should have another look at." The decision to build the album around a concept was and important one for the band, as Martin Orford remembered: With this album, it was nice to have the framework of a story to work to so that we knew the sort of pieces we had to find for particular sections."
So creative wre the "Subterranea" writing sessions, though, that IQ had no need to resort to reworking unfinished ideas. In Fact, two tracks "The Universal Scam" and "Eyes Of The Blind", were omitted from the final album, only being released two years later on the rarities CD, "The Lost Attic".
Originally, we were only intending to play the middle section, "Peter later recalled, "but then we decided to surprise everyone and do the whole track!"
After this memorable concert, IQ returned to The Met for the final UK "Subterranea" show and then headed off to Holland to film its last ever performance, at the 013 in Tilgurg. This would later appear as the CD, video and DVD, "Subterranea : The Concert".
Incredibly, the full "Subterranea" show was performed live only 16 times and those who saw it will never forget it. This triple CD package captures some of the unique atmosphere in London on that special night. Enjoy! PRRP STAFF

Notes from the Re-Master
This is generally a very good audience with music signal up to 16,000 Hz. Pops and crackle were the most offending noise that needed to be removed. Also, The high range treble was too accentuated and lead to the pronunciation of the letter "S" as piercing so it was cut down.
Applause was a bit too loud in many places so this was reduced where necessary. Finally, the last few minutes of the show were missing from the original source but we were able to track down a video of the show that had the missing section. We transitioned the audio from a high quality audience taping device to a video tape source. The transition works well but the reduction in quality is obvious. We felt it was important to include the complete show despite this reduction in fidelity.

01. Interstellar Overdrive
02. A Saucerful Of Secrets

OU Notes: This is apparently another tape from the same guy who taped Led Zeppelin and Cream amongst others at the Whisky a Go Go, i'd hazard a guess to say the rest will no doubt be released in the coming months by Empress Valley.
LZJoker 23rd April 2007.
creamcheese additional info: I speed corrected this one, it ran about 25 cents slow. I tuned the first organ chord of celestial voices to B and took that pitch change for IO aswell so it was tuned exactly to E.
I did a little EQing, just to pull away the curtain before the music. This was done on walter romanus' request on 2009-01-03.
I again hope that you like the result of this work, cheers.

A few words about the Stanley Theatre
The Stanley Performing Arts Center opened September 10th, 1928, and has been the premier showplace for Central New York ever since. Thomas Lamb, a prolific theatre architect, designed this 2,945 seats movie palace for the Mastbaum chain of theatres. The theatre was named for Stanley, one of the Mastbaum brothers.
The design of the theatre is dubbed 'Mexican Baroque' because of its unique blend of styles. The terra cotta and tiled mosaic exterior shows the Mexican influence, while Hapsburg lions, Indian faces and a multitude of angels and putti (cherubs) grace the lavish baroque 'gold-leaf' interior of the theatre. The Moorish influence is apparent in the star-splashed ceiling and the twisted columns on each side of the stage.
On a cold November night...
1982 was to be a milestone year in Peter Gabriel's career as a solo artist. The release of his fourth album, still untitled but labeled 'Security' by Geffen records ion North America, had produced Peter's very first US hit with 'Shock The Monkey'. Gabriel and his band started on an extensive tour to promote the album that would include 35 shows in the United States and Canada between October 28th and December 19th.
It was a cold night in Utica that evening, as it always is in Central New York during November, when Peter Gabriel and his band took the stage at the Stanley Theatre for the fifth concert of the tour. Peter used the intimate setting of this theatre to his advantage as he opened the concert with 'Rhythm Of The Heat', he and his bandmates marching up to the stage banging drums from the back lobby of the 'Stanley', clad in Japanese martial arts outfits with kneepads and all. Opening the show from the audience was only the first of a few novelties that Peter had decided to bring forward for this tour. He wore the monkey make-up during 'Shock The Monkey', an effort reminiscent of his Genesis days.
But the most stunning moment of the evening came during 'Lay Your Hands On Me' as Peter came down from the stage to go crowd-surfing in the audience. One who was there comments..."This was surely the highlight of the show as he passed right over me as I sat in the 12th row !..." This daring stunt brought Peter a lot of praise from critics and fans alike.
As he had done on his previous tours, Peter introduced a non-album, brand new track into the setlist, 'John Has A Headache'. This song would never be released officially on any of Peter's albums or singles, so any live recording from that year is quite special because of this fact. After a great presentation of a choice selection of songs from his four albums, Peter will pull one more trick out of his hat as a small hand-held mirror reflects a line of intense white light into the audience during 'San Jacinto', the last song of the concert. Two encores later, Peter and his band take a final bow, leaving an exuberant audience begging for more !
PRRP Staff

Notes from the Re-Master: This was a low volume audience recording. For unexplained reasons the volume for either channel would just drop precipitously for 10-30 seconds on occasion. These problems were corrected. One complete dropout occurred one minute and four seconds into the song ‘I Have the Touch’. This was very brief but to cut it out would have disrupted the tempo of the song in that section. Since there was no signal at all, no other fix –short of patching over it- would have worked. For this reason it was left in its original state.
Hiss was quite significant when the concert volume was amplified and therefore this noise was reduced. The bass was somewhat lacking so this component of the frequency spectrum was boosted. The frequency range was expanded to about 10 kHz from the original 7.5 kHz maximum. Given the acoustics of the auditorium, ambience was quite good and therefore unaltered. Audience applause was understandably loud and therefore reduced in volume when present. The occasional pop was also removed.

Not a bad sounding show,a lot of hiss on the quiet bits,so just did a slight
tonal adjustment, and a couple of fades. Go Through This was really quiet compared
to the other songs (patched from another show?) so adjusted the volume.
Trevor seems to be enjoying himself "I'm going to get Hollywood taken off my jacket
and Hammersmith put on" he tells the crowd. Is it me or does anyone else hear the
Duck call?

February 23, 1969

DISC ONE:
1. Million Miles Away 13:18
2. Don't Laugh At Nobody 8:15
3. Pretty Baby 5:25
4. Little Bird 11:41
5. Crazy About You Woman 7:42
6. How Much Is That Chicken 1:19

DISC TWO:

2. I Had A Dream 10:17
3. Killing Floor 5:38
4. How Many More Years 8:54 *
5. Instrumental 1:50
6. Crosscut Saw 8:29
7. Sock It To Me 4:24
* (Possible microphone connection issue from 0:45 - 1:00)

OU: This recording had all the vocals, drums, and keys in the left channel and all the guitar and bass in the right channel, making for an odd mix. I took each channel, converted it to stereo, then mixed it all together to have a balanced mix. It's much easier to listen to now.

Pink Floyd: New York 1970 (VG Aud) shn

front (2)
Trademark Moo
Highland - HL630
Matrix Disc: No visible
(P) 2003 Made in Italy
Audience Recording

OU Notes: Sounds much better than the other versions available from this recording and is much longer, including more tune-ups and announcements too (not only the intro to Astronomy Domine actually, but more!)
Again, the recording itself would not deserve more than a VG/VG+ and the taper and the lady talk really a lot (all it is clearly audible here, from this would be possible to pull out an accurate transcription maybe, if you'll be ever interested in knowing what they were talking about) but this is a real low generation-sourced version, once you get this you'll trash the rest!
A Saucerful of Secrets is obviously cut.
http://www.hokafloyd.com/CDHOKA/Trademark_Moo/Trademark_Moo.htm

Notes from the Bootleg Times Of Pink Floyd: The circulated source in collector's circle is incomplete, this Highland release is also same. BUT, Highland release is much better than the previous one. I think it comes from much lower gen. source. Great audience recording. And this release includes Roger's introduction before 'Astronomy Domine'.
He says that the band changed the echo unit or something like that. And it includes about 9 mins from the begining of 'A Saucerful Of Secrets' with Roger's introduction 'This could be the last piece we play .... the title track 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'.

Notes from http://www.collectorsmusicreviews.com
Trademark Moo is the earliest extant tape from Pink Floyd’s third US tour.
Highland’s is the first commercial silver release of this show but it has circulated as Sunny is the Day, Genuine New York 1970, and New York 11.4.70. The label unearthed a copy that is closer to the master cassette and is more complete and much better sounding than anything else in current circulation.
It begins with Roger Waters speaking about tuning up, staggering about and changing the echo unit before the band is ready to play the opening number “Astronomy Domine” and the tape runs out at nine minutes nineteen seconds in the final song “A Saucerful Of Secrets”.

CMI Comments: This is my remastered version of this great recording and is made using definitive raw version of this source from Empress Velley "Live At Southampton - Working Tapes" release.
For all who might doesn't know, first leaked R-O version is basically the EV version with some glitches already edited out and with some digital errors (bad CDR copy) on it in addition. "Dancing Days" track is an example.
I fixed all glitches and crackles. Also all three gaps in recording were fixed. No EQ and no Noise Reduction were aplied. Modern standart dynamic compression was applied, so now it sounds as loud and powerful as HTWWW.
All tracks are re-indexed.
BTW, Winston Remaster of this show is great but it sounds so different to the original. Also his mistake is the usage of Presence's source.

+++
to clarify: This is the TomP Remaster which is a Remaster of CMI's Remaster
southampton_i_pix
CMI > TomP REMASTER
Old Refectory, University, Southampton, England
22nd January 1973
Recorded by Eddie Kramer
Mixed by Kevin Shirley
Source: rough multitrack mix-down
Lineage: EVSD Silver CD->FLAC->WAV->Remaster->FLAC
Originally Remastered by CMI Music in August 2008
Corrected -0.03msec phase shift
Cross-mixed all tracks (ratio 96:4)
Noise print NR at very low setting, to take edge off hiss & fix slight buzz without affecting SQ
Very slight EQ, +2dB treble
Slight expansion (from 0dB @ 0dB to -2dB @ -20dB) undoing over-compression (Audition 3)
Minor clip reduction in a few places (Audition 3)
Fixed hundreds of volume and balance fluctuations
Fixed lots more glitches, clicks, mic bumps, feedback squeels and drop-outs
Combined tracks for editing, cut a few short periods of complte silence and Re-tracked to avoid SBEs
Flac > Nero > TLH > you
Quality: Ex performance, A+ SQ (would be more except for a little hiss remaining)
OU Notes: I've downloaded many, many Led Zep recordings and have been surprised at just how few are decent sound quality, either because of strange soundboard mixes (where Page is often near inaudible) or mostly high generation copies.
Well at last, IMHO this is the best recording I've found, with the exception of course of the great BBC Live Official 2CD set. The only ones that come close have been the thir13en remasters of Vancouver 1975 and Frankfurt 1980, with highly rated others like St Louis 1975 some way behind those. I'm not a completist, so I would welcome enthusiasts posting with similar or better SQ. There is also a thir13en
remaster of this same concert, but that sounds a little thin compared to this version.
My original source was remastered by CMI, with whom I'm not familiar to me but did a great job, except for over-enthusiastic compression that pumped up levels and made it difficult to separate instruments.
I was able to undo some of this, along with other significant editing (above).
Now it sounds truly great. Performance is top notch with a great set list including several golden oldies and for once you can hear Jimmy Page's guitar in all its true glory, making this for me the best Led Zeppelin recording ever...
...Enjoy !!

One is closer to the original in terms of lineage; the second is a finer tweek. Your call - pass, one or both!
If you need just a few songs (because you attempted this download earlier) just request the individual tracks and the host that you use (mega or rs) and I will take care of you.
