03. San Jacinto - 10:23
04. On the Air - 8:18
6. Kiss of Life - 7:50
7. Biko - 11:12

OU: Taped by the same taper that had also brought us the previous night, easily recognizable by either him or a (literally) close friend repeatedly declaring his love for the artist (you are forgiven, btw).
This is arguably still the best night of the whole tour. I have always admired how non-aggressive Peter is, which really shows when he was heckled on stage - one remembers the "Your mother eats ****!" incident from his "Lamb" touring days.
Must have had a good upbringing, that Peter. He displayed the same calmness that night in San Jose, when his innocent/outrageous (I guess depending on your political point of view) introduction to "Not One Of Us" led to an outbreak of swearing and water throwing even that required an interruption of the show.

lineage: WBCN FM live broadcast > Yamaha 500 receiver with wire FM antenna > Nak. BX 100 cassette deck (dolby off) > Maxell XLII-S 90 min. master cassette > played on Nak. 300 into soundforge (wav) > flac (sb's aligned)
Do not sell this recording (not even for diamonds, rubies and emeralds). Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly.

OU comments: Jewel asks a couple of people to go into the hall to talk just as she's starting "fragile flame", but otherwise it was an appreciative crowd to see Jewel perform in a live FM broadcast concert.
it was also recorded for a Westwood One broadcast in other parts of the U.S. Most of this, except a section of one song is taken from the original live broadcast. this recording has a short portion spliced in from a re-broadcast (during "race car driver", recorded with the same deck on the same tape) so that nothing is cut or missing from this set. there is no noticable change of quality or sign of a spliced recording at all so it is all a seamless uninterrupted recording of the show that will fit on one 80 min. CD. at this time, Jewel was already starting to get "big" (musically) and had a few big hits with "who will save your soul" and "you were meant for me" and "foolish games" which are all performed here in this show. the tape had hardly ever been played when this was first digitized, and still sounds nice.
Jewel has been nominated for 3 Grammy awards so far, and performed 10 songs from her debut album "Pieces of You" in this set, one of the most popular debut albums in music history.
that album was recorded in 1994 and released in 1995. only one song in here (absence of fear) is heard in the second Jewel album, "Spirit" which was recorded and released in 1998.

OU Notes: I was at this arena last weekend to watch my brother graduate from UNLV. It got me to thinking about this Aerosmith show from the same venue as the band was on its "Done With Mirrors" tour, the band's last before they sold their souls. I also stuck on a pre-gig interview. Good show, Tyler's stream of consciousness before some tunes is a hoot, in particular "Lighting Strikes" when he recalls his bust at Lake Havasu in nearby Arizona in the summer of 1983. Nice recording, bet it sounds brilliant on the master which is no doubt long gone. A bit of a rarity, got this years after the show.

OU: Just prior to going to this show, i had been to see ULI JON ROTH with Marc Boals on Vocals several times the week before. So i've been a little "biased" about this show in the past and it's also one of the many reasons i waited so long to upload it.
I had already seen YNGWIE MALMSTEEN many times before this and this was my 5th time recording one of his shows.
I guess after seeing ULI from just a few feet away compared to here where i'm a few yards away made a big difference in hindsight to how i felt that night being there. Also i had seen TIM"Ripper"OWENS many times before as well. I'd seen him 3 times in JUDAS PRIEST and once in ICED EARTH and a guest appearence as well. somehow he didn't seem as good to me on this night as he had all those times in the past. THEN, i recently re-listened to this show and like fine wine it "grew on my earbuds". So maybe i was a little too "critical". The recording and preformance seem much better then i remembered. I guess i'll let you decide....ENJOY THE MUSIC!

Matthew Sweet: Earth Demos 1989 (Studio) FLAC

This transfer is about 10 years old at this point. Transfer was from a VERY low gen cassette (1st or 2nd get) using a decent tape deck and a $500 professional sound card. Hiss reduction/EQ/cleanup/tracking was done in Sound Forge 4.0. I no longer have access to the source so this is as good as it's going to get.

Track listing is to the best of my ability, however some track titles are unknown.

OU Notes: Following the hits Are ‘Friends’ Electric? and Cars, the Touring Principle was an unknown quantity. Featuring Billy Currie (ex Ultravox) expectations ran high, and the Essex boy certainly did his best to entertain. Robot cars, neon lighting, and a version of On Broadway to round out the influences - to this day Gary Numan is still a performer who wants to give his audience a good show.
This tour was immortalized on film and on record officially as Living Ornaments, but is presented here, warts and all.

Miles Davis: Zurich 1985 (Soundboard) FLAC

Zurich, Switzerland
Source: Analog soundboard
Lineage: SBD >MCA (low noise) >CAS >CAS >Marian Marc 2 (24-bit/64 kHz) >.wav >Wavelab 4.0 Remaster (using Sonic Foundry Pitch Shift, Paragraphic EQ, Noise Reduction, Steinberg Stereo Expander and Q eq plug ins) >16 bit/44.1 kHz resampling >99.9 % normalization >CD WAVE (tracking) >FLAC
Notes from source: As usual, this soundboard tape was mastered with standard normal bias material like TDK D, or Sony HF, without noise reduction.
The 2nd gen copy was too fast, it got a pitch down of 65% of a semitone.
Audio as received from source. FLAC files renamed according to Milesian protocol;-).
Additional editing (plaz):
- cleaned and reworked several track transitions
- removed fade out/in at disc change boundary (re-edited for continuous play)
- lightly declicked and decrackled
- repaired audible clicks, pops, crackle and gain fluctuations
- retracked and renamed files

An REO Speedwagon was a type of vehicle before it was a band. What was a Buffalo Springfield before it was a band? (I just found out this morning)

Pink Floyd: Omayyad 1969-70 (Studio Master Copy!) FLAC

Just made available! Copy from Master Tape of "Omayyad" (Transfer of ) - Master 2010
Omayyad reel - 03

Here is a good Transfer of one of the most celebrated Pink Floyd's bootleg : Omayyad
1. Oenone - Fingal's Cave
2. Interstellar Overdrive
3. Crumbling Land (original long version) - Rain in the Country
4. The Embryo

OU: I want to make it clear that I share this here only to show in advance the source of our restoring work for the next release of The Lost Album - 370 Roman Yards , The Zabriskie Point Box and a new edition of Omayyad . Our remaster of the four songs were made on this we called simply Master 2010.
I have to thank again Grolsch for this. He got this transfer in October 2010. After he provided me the last one he told me of the chance he could go back to the source of his own cassette. I've been stressing him for months and after a long work he was able to get this even in CD Quality only. We had the evidence that the previous owner of this reel (Hans-Jurgen) was making copies with _equalizing_ process. So the Grolsch's cassette, the source of Master 2008, was probably equalized.
From Grolsch the 3rd October 2010: Just got back from meeting Dietmar. He gave me his cd that was directly taken off a big Agfa 9,5 ips reel. Playback on an ASC 6002 quarter track (http://www.meinepatenkinder.de/walter.wienen/asc-Dateien/asc.html) with Oehlbach hifi cables into a Pioneer PD RW 555 (http://www.cdrecorders.org.uk/pdr555rw.php). heads were de-magnetized every hour, every track was individually azimuth corrected - Maxell PRP CD blank.
The tape was done by TMoQ and traded to Hans-Jurgen in the early 70's. Dietmar got all his collection some time ago.
See the pictures. Even the one of the back box is out of focus we can easily read many interesting informations. First of all you can read the title of this thread: Pink Floyd : Copy from Master Tape of "Omayyad" This coupled with the writing on the right side _Produced by "Trade Matk of Quality" January 1972 makes this VERY INTERESTING.
More infos for the live songs .....Electronic.. Re-Processed in Stereo from Original .......(???)
This is another product of my wide research about Zabriskie Point. -Enjoy

05. Cocaine (J.J. Cale)
Encore:
06. Crossroads (Robert Johnson)

Band:
Eric Clapton, CBE - vocals & guitars
Chris Stainton - keyboards
Tim Carmon - keyboards
Willie Weeks - bass
Steve Gadd - drums
Sharon White - backing vocals
Michelle John - backing vocals

Support: Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders
PIX Included.
Notes: FLASH-FLIP Performed at the end of the seated section; this caused a small loss of the start of Badge. Sorry ;~)
SOUND Placed inside of the venue overhead PA, the sound was direct from the monitor speakers. Consequently, the last two numbers suffered some muffling due to (live) bodies obscuring the stage after the stage rush.
TITLE Saliva Salvo, or too close for comfort.
COMMENTS Clapton played his balls off; a really enjoyable show and he seemed to enjoy it too. The setlist even got a shake-up and the guitar was prominent. Clapton and Weeks shared some obvious fun in Cocaine at ~36 mins into disk-2, when they locked-in to a downbeat progression reminiscent of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood".

The Lostbrook Tape Series - Volume 31
October 31, 1975
My Father's Place - New York, NY, USA

Recording Equipment: Internal Mic - Sanyo tape deck - TDK SD C90 - Alesis TapeLinkUSB - Audacity - WAV
Taper: Lostbrook
Mastering: CQ

OU: This is an important tape in Lost Brook history. Three weeks prior to this show, I recorded my first concert, and the results were so horrific that I could have stopped and never recorded another note. This tape proved that I could get good results and it gave me the motivation to continue. It’s possible that the first tape was made with an inferior unit and that this is the inaugural appearance of the Sanyo M2533. You can easily tell that we were rookies by our uncertainty over when to flip the tape. At times, it even appears that my brother Gary had primary taping duties. We somehow managed to capture the entire concert, and by doing so, may have preserved a small piece of Spirit history that was considered lost. Bpthree informs me that the only known tape of this performance is missing the first four songs. Join us for the complete show at My Father’s Place on the perfect night to see Spirit – Halloween!

Leonard Cohen: Vancouver 2010 (Ex- Aud) FLAC

leonard-cohen-the-future-subtitulada
Date: 2010-12-02 (Thursday)
Title: Everything We've Got
Venue: Rogers Arena (formerly GM Place) - Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Venue concert seating capacity: 14000
Estimated crowd size: 9000 (upper section closed off)
Weather conditions: Indoor show - not applicable
Source: Open-Air Audience/Stealth
Lineage: Church Audio CA-11 cardioid mics > Church Audio ST-9100 v3.0 pre-amp with bass roll off turned off > Edirol R-09 (24/48)
Transfer: .WAV's > Audacity 1.2.6 (minor edits) > Sound Forge Pro 10.0a (normalize) > CDWav (tracking) > Trader's Little Helper (level 5) > FLAC > .WAV > Cool Edit Pro 2.1 (dithered and downsampled to 16 bit/44.1 kHz) > Trader's Little Helper (level 5) > FLAC
Recording location: FOB - right of center - first row approx. 40 metres from stage - 1.5 metres high (on player's bench wall ledge - see photo of rig (under orange handkerchief) surrounded by security during intermission)
Sound Quality: SUP-, A+, 9.5/10 - I was originally quite disappointed that I didn't bring my omnis. During the show, I thought that the quiet well behaved crowd and the nice clean sound (which was all quite unexpected) would be best captured using my omnis. Boy was I wrong. Those cards did a fantastic job and got my first ever SUPerb rated recording. I could barely have asked for better.
Recordist: Seth Meister
Mastered by: Dennis Orr
Release date: 2011-05-11

OU: I was very, very concerned about going to this show and almost didn't buy the very expensive tickets as I couldn't see how the sound quality would possibly be any good in such a large venue with this type of a musician. A friend of mine had seen Cohen in this very venue a year previous and told me that it was one of the best shows he had ever seen. I respected his opinion highly as he's an avid live music fan with a lot of experiene. Well, little did I know that Mark Vreeken (the long time soundman for the iconic Canadian band The Tragically Hip) was doing sound for this show. I thought he had retired but apparently was coaxed out of retirement by Cohen to do one more tour...and how could he resist? If I had known I wouldn't have doubted for an instance. Cohen and Vreeken make for a perfect symbiotic relationship and it all culminates in my tape for your enjoyment.
I was joined at this show, once again, by a dear friend and collaborator who withholds all her clapping, singing and talking for the sake of my recordings. She not only truly understands my crazy taper quirks but probably enjoyed & appreciated this show more than anyone there. I couldn't think of a better person to have attended with.
No compression was used in the post-processing of this recording to preserve it's dynamic range, listenability and authenticity. This recording will naturally sound much better cranked up loud with quality headphones!
Peace & enjoy, Seth

lineage: Realistic twin head stereo mike > Sony 158 cassette deck (dolby off) > Maxell XLI 90 min. master cassette (normal bias/EQ setting) played on Nak. 300 into soundforge (wav) > flac (sb's aligned)

OU comments: this is the complete show except for the 1st couple of seconds of track 9, digitized for the 1st time ever for this posting. this tape has hardly ever been played and probably never circulated before, even on cassette. (never posted before from the master tape, if at all).
this group has gone through many personnel changes since their days in the 60's as the Savoy Brown Blues Band. They still maintain a blues-rock influence and their original guitarist/singer and songwriter Kim Simmonds. first time I saw them was along with Bob Welch fronted Fleetwood Mac in 1972 in Boston. this was the only other time I saw them, and the only time I had a recorder with me.
They put on a good show. not too much crowd noise in here. the Realistic mike doesn't have real hi-fi sound, but I think most Savoy fans will find the sound enjoyable in this recording. - A this and that production. Do not sell this recording. Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly.

I managed to capture this show onto cassette from another city about 2 hours away with several large mountains interfering with the reception. I was able to pull it off with very little static in the reception. The first 1:10 there is moderate static as my receiver was in the "FM Stereo" mode. I had to switch to "mono" for the noise to clear up so this show is in mono. The show sounds like it was a lot of fun for both the band members present and the audience. There is a lot of dialogue by the band just clowning around and by taking questions from the audience.

OU: Where do I begin? It was around 1994 and I was in Rome on business, but it was the weekend and I was a tourist. I was passsing by a CD store and saw some "fan club" recordings in the window. So I went and and $450 later (~ 765,000 Lire) I picked up an 8 CD Jimi Hendrix Box (51st Anniversary The Story of Life), an 8 CD Led Zeppelin set called Cabala, an 8 CD boxed set of Pink Floyd called Variations on a Theme of Absence and this 4CD set of Jimi called "Every Way to Paradise". So here it is. I've never seen it posted here before. I scanned all the art work for those who care.

COMPOSITE OF TWO FM SOURCES: The source from the original broadcast had a fuller spectrum and more natural sound than the recent rebroadcast, despite somewhat dicier lineage (I would like to hear it before that "careful noise reduction"). Nevertheless the fuller spectrum (and high mids missing from the rebroadcast) can be heard on the older source. Both editions had some different songs from each other and both had a (different) faded song at the end. By reference to another show (and to the internal continuity)
I believe this composite edit presents everything we have from both sources in the original running order. The rebroadcast also had a really odd (annoying) feature where the beginning of the following song cut off on the end of the preceding track, resulting in small repeating fragments before the start of each track. It did not flow at all. Frequency Analysis graphs for the same song from each source are included here.
I did some editing and adjusting to smooth out the transitions as much as possible. I also retracked the beginning of source one, where a medley was split (and not on the actual starting marks if it were to be hacked up).
There were two glitches noted in source one as originally posted (see the original info file or those notes copied below). The seeder tried to repair those two songs, but was also kind enough to include the original tracks in the torrent for others to try their hand later. These were extraordinarily difficult splices, since the glitches seemed to involve a very slight off-time repeated element. I think I arrived at a better result, though perfection does not seem to be in the cards on at least one of them due to the condition of the source. You probably won't notice if you aren't listening for something there though.
I also corrected titles and names in these notes.

LINEAGE:
Source 1 (primary - from original broadcast): FM > tape > CD-R > EAC > WAV (WaveLab Lite) > flac8 (TLH)

ADDITIONAL LINEAGE :
TLH > WAV > Cool Edit Pro 2.1 (Edits, Fades) > WAV > TLH (Aligned) > FLAC(8)

Corinne Josias - backing vocals

OU: I already had a first generation from this broadcast but a few months ago I was in touch with the guy I traded it back in 1988 and he provided me with his master to digitalize. Unfortunately both his master and my copy had deteriorated since then and the sound is not that excellent, I would rate it as very good. Nevertheless, one of the best shows from the Clutching At Straws tour although no Incubus or Script were played. But indeed an incredible 'thriller' intro to Fugazi. This is one of the last gig of Marillion as a six-piece band featuring Corinne Josias as backing vocalist. Less than 12 months later, Fish abandoned ship and the end of an era for Marillion was there.
French radio followed quite a lot the Fish era of Marillion, as they broadcasted no less than three tours plus the very first one with Steve Hogarth in 1989 (the latter being seeded in my Master Series already). This was the second visit to Paris during the same tour, as the band had played the Zenith earlier in July during the summer leg of the tour.
Enjoy! -ldb
