Faith No More: Melbourne 1993 (VG++ Aud) FLAC

faith-no-more-angeldust-tour-1993-back
Date: 1993-05-06
Venue: (RealKosh) @Monash University, Melbourne, Australia
Source: DAT > Tape (?) > Pioneer CT-W205R > Behringer Eurorack UB1002 > MAudio 2496 > Audacity > CDWave > CDr 2006: EAC (secure) > WAV > FLAC
Quality: A-
Notes: Absolutely-positively, one of the greatest shows of the Angel Dust tour. Definitely some of the most memorable between song dialogue of the tour as well. The theme seems to be beat up on Jim night....

Intro to Death March -
Jim : "What the f__ck do you want, you with the spotlight?"
Roddy : "You got something to hide or what?"
Jim : "Yes".
Patton : "His microphone's not even on during the show, what do ya think of that?!"
Jim : "Thanks a f__cking lot!"
Patton : "Hey man, it's not our fault! You got nothing to say! Wooo! Alright."

Intro to Jizzlobber -
Patton : "Are you guys familiar with adult contemporary music?"
Roddy : "well I am because I have a really diverse uhh, musical taste".
Patton : "I'm glad to hear it Roddy".
Roddy : "How about you guys? you guys into adult contemporary?"
Jim : "How many people just like metal til ya f__king die, man?"
Patton : "F__kin' Billy Ocean....(unintelligible!)"
Roddy : "NO! NO! Rick Springfield! Rick!! Rick!!! Rick!!!!"

The definitive Mike Patton rendition of "Why Do You Bother"? At the very least, there's not an audio boot in circulation from '92-93 that has it in better quality (2011-05).

Traffic: London 1974 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

5
Rainbow Theatre, London, England, May 17th 1974.
2nd generation cassette > behringer ultra curve pro deq 2496 equalizer > tascam cdrw750 > plex tool professional XL > wav > flac.

Really interesting show for various reasons, excellent audience from my 2nd generation tape. This show has not circulated so much in this quality, mostly circulated from 3rd or 4th generation tapes.....

Here is the comment from Winwoodfans.com:
Entire concert on 2 tapes. Very good audience recording. Recommended. Includes unreleased instrumentals "Intro" and "Vulcan"; they were recorded live by the band themselves for the rhythm tracks amongst other new material which would ultimately appear on the When the Eagle Flies album. "Vulcan" is of particular importance as it was one of the late Chris Wood's last compositions for Traffic.

Disc1
01. Intro >
02. Instrumental #1
03. Heaven Is In Your Mind
04. Love
05. John Barleycorn
06. 40000 Headmen
07. Instrumental #2
08. Graveyard People
09. Empty Pages
10. Pearly Queen
11. Vulcan

Disc2
01 Dear Mr. Fantasy
02 When The Eagle Flies
03 Walking In The Wind
04 Dream Gerrard
05 Memories of A Rock'N' Rolla

Moody Blues: Tucson 2011 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

1
2011-05-11 - AVA Amphitheater - Tucson, Arizona USA
Recorded & Transfered By: Robert Mullen (lvrwm)

Equipment/Lineage: Audience/SP-CMC-25 mics (Croakies)>SP-SPSB-2(Battery Boost Box)>Sony PCM-M10>CD Wave Editor(tracking)>Traders Little Helper flac level 8.
Recorder Settings: PCM-M10 at 44.1 kHz/16 bit, low mic sensitivity, manual record, limiter on, mic power off, low cut filter off, speed control off.

OU Comments: Here is our recording of this very good show by The Moodies. We were in section 101, row EE directly in front of the stage left stacks. The crowd was excited for this show and pretty well behaved around us. The recording came out really well. This band still puts on a good show (IMHO) and they performed well this beautiful evening outside
of Tucson. Enjoy.

Enjoy!

I personally find this show to actually be pretty good if you can look past the techincal difficulties with the p.a system (once you get past "We're Gonna Groove", the show and band start to pick up steam),the p.a problems are really beyond the bands control, so the bands performance shouldn't be faulted because of something that's beyond their control.
If the band played this show sloppily, then that's a different story, they would indeed be at fault for a bad performance, but something like faulty equipment shouldn't be held against the group.
I don't know if there was a specific reason or cause for the Baltimore Police Department for being present at concerts but according to several testimonies from fans who have attended Zeppelin's Baltimore shows in 1969 and 1970 the Baltimore police have been present at both shows and have indeed been physical with the crowd.
On the back cover art for Tarantura 2000's release "Live From Tear Gassed Place", a mention of the gig from Dave Lewis and Simon Pallet's "Led Zeppelin Concert File" is printed on the cover with Jimmy recalling an incident with a female fan from Baltimore:
A Girl In Baltimore asked me if she could come backstage and watch the show from there.
I thought this was the usual line from a girl just wanting to hang around with us.
So I said: "Why don't you go and sit in your seat and watch us?"
She said: "Because last time at this place, the cops tear-gassed the place, and I'm frightened of being out there."
That's the sort of tension we keep finding. There's such a lack of understanding and trust between the audience and the police.
For those that may not know, there are 3 known audience recording tape sources in circulation, and one piece of film footage of the performance (2 minutes of silent colour 8mm film footage).
The first and second tape sources of this concert are fair to good quality audience recordings, and are quite incomplete, the 3rd tape source is currently the most superior sounding recording of all the tape sources in circulation and the most complete.
The 3rd tape source sounds like it was taped very close to the stage, and has a pretty decent mix of the instruments, although Roberts vocals are the most dominant (when the p.a is actually working).
The reason we decided to work from a boot release instead of a low gen tape source of the 3rd tape source is because we actually prefered the sound quality of the Apple release over the low gens, it has more clairity to it and we thought it could really benefit from slight tweaking here and there.

What we've done to make this project:
- We've tried to balance the instruments as much as possible, and add things to the mix the original was lacking (more low end, more clarity for the rest of the instruments, bring out hidden things in the recording like cheers and audience banter).
- We've tried to balance the volume (originally the first disc was running too hot, and the second disc was running too low).
- We've tried to bring out the acoustics of the venue as best we can.

In regards to the title:
The title idea came to use while we were reading the review of this show posted on Argenteumastrum.com, it was their saying that the bands performance of "We're Gonna Groove" was "Flacid", and that got the ball rolling on the title choice.
The band (particularly Robert) were having extreme trouble projecting themselves throughout the night because of the dysfunctional p.a system, so we came up with the title "Projectile Dysfunction" from that review.
We thought it sounded clever, and made a connection to the performance in some way, so we thought we'd use it. Hope everyone here will enjoy this.
Cheers

Pink Floyd: Total Eclipse Revisited (Beta) Discs 1-3 (FLAC)

total Clipse V2
This is the first piece of art that I created for this set (more to follow)-dave
all comments below are the OU's (original uploader's)
The basic lineage for each file is:
Yeeshkul -> SHN/FLAC -> TLH -> Wav -> Sony Sound Forge 7.0* -> Wav -> TLH -> FLAC 8
*Sound Forge was used as needed to trim each file to remove extraneous applause, tuning, etc. and to add smooth fades in and out.

Avid fans who were around in the 1990's probably remember the Total Eclipse boxed set, a 4CD set of rare and unreleased recordings. (Heck, some of you were probably involved in making it.) It was released basically as a reaction to the Shine On boxed set which added virtually no value to most fans. However, over 15 years later a lot has changed. Many of the recordings in the original set have been released officially and new sources have emerged across the board. However, it is clear that there is a large amount of material out there that complements the albums but will probably never be released by the band. Therefore I think it is time for a new fan set that captures the intent of the original Total Eclipse boxed set and improves on it. This set would not be possible without the effort of the innumerable people over the years who have recorded and preserved this music.
Like many fans, I am enthusiastic about the announcement of the series of boxed sets that will include significant amounts of previously unavailable material. In an attempt to avoid overlap with future releases, I have avoided sources that I consider too good NOT to release by themselves. These include:
* BBC sessions from 1968-1974
* September 09, 1969 (Concertgebouw)
* November 21, 1970 (Montreaux)
* March 14, 1973 (Boston)
* June 18, 1975 (Boston)
* May 9, 1977 (Oakland)
In addition, I have decided not to include anything after 1979 because these are already captured very well by existing releases.
I am optimistic that future releases will continue to make the highest quality recordings available officially. However, as exciting as these upcoming releases are, I do not feel that they will tell the whole story. While compiling this set, the original intention was to stick with 4CDs as with the original. However, after reviewing dozens of sources, I felt that this was not enough space to tell the entire story in a satisfactory way and so I have expanded to 6 CDs. Each is designed to tell a different part of the story as follows:
CD 1 - Dawn and Dusk of the Piper (Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett from 1965 to 1967)
CD 2 - A Collection of Great Soundboards (soundboard recordings from 1968 to 1978)
CD 3 - Ummagumma Revisited (an alternate set of soundboard recordings from 1968 to 1971)

Beta Notes: Because of the scope of this project I want to take the time to get this right. Someone else is going to have to take on the artwork and final mastering. In addition, getting detailed liner notes together will take some effort. Therefore I am releasing this torrent as a "Beta" version. Other discs will be torrented over the next couple of days as time permits. Once feedback starts rolling in, we can talk about what needs to be done to get this project to the finish line.

In an attempt to avoid overlap with future releases, I have avoided sources that I consider too good NOT to release by themselves. These include:
* BBC sessions from 1968-1974
* September 09, 1969 (Concertgebouw)
* November 21, 1970 (Montreaux)
* March 14, 1973 (Boston)
* June 18, 1975 (Boston)
* May 9, 1977 (Oakland)

CD 4 - Something To Do With A Dream (audience recordings from 1970 to 1971)
CD 5 - Childhood's End (audience recordings from 1971 to 1972)
CD 6 - I Fell On His Neck With A Scream (audience recordings from 1973 to 1977)

Beta Notes: Because of the scope of this project I want to take the time to get this right. Someone else is going to have to take on the artwork and final mastering. In addition, getting detailed liner notes together will take some effort. Therefore I am releasing this torrent as a "Beta" version of Disc 1. Other discs will be torrented over the next couple of weeks as time permits. Once feedback starts rolling in, we can talk about what needs to be done to get this project to the finish line.

Disc 4 - Something To Do With A Dream (audience recordings from 1970 to 1971)
401. Main Theme (11Feb70) (1)
402. Grantchester Meadows (29Apr70) (2)
403. Cymbaline (17Dec70) (3)
404. Librest Spacement Monitor (11Nov70) (4)
405. Atom Heart Mother (18Sep71) (5)

Disc 5 - Childhood's End (audience recordings from 1971 to 1972)
501. Fat Old Sun (03Apr71) (6)
502. One Of These Days (02May72) (7)
503. Careful With That Axe, Eugene (15Nov72) (8)
504. Echoes (15Nov72) (8)
505. Any Colour You Like (05Dec72) (9)
506. Childhood's End (05Dec72) (9)

Disc 6 - I Fell On His Neck With A Scream (audience recordings from 1973 to 1977)
601. Obscured by Clouds (11Mar73) (10)[
602. When You're In (11Mar73) (10)]
603. Raving and Drooling (26Apr75) (11)
604. You Gotta Be Crazy (26Apr75) (11)
605. Pigs On The Wing Part I (06Jul77) (12)
606. Pigs On The Wing Part II (06Jul77) (12)
607. Pigs (Three Different Ones) (06Jul77) (12)
608. Blues (06Jul77) (12)

The basic lineage for each file is:
Yeeshkul -> SHN/FLAC -> TLH -> Wav -> Sony Sound Forge 7.0* -> Wav -> TLH -> FLAC 8
*Sound Forge was used as needed to trim each file to remove extraneous applause, tuning, etc. and to add smooth fades in and out.
[ and ] The boundary between these two tracks was changed to be more faithful to the original.

Track List:
1. Sundown
2. You're Still So Many Lives Away
3. Electric Sun/You're Still So Many Lives Away
4. Electric Sun
5. Lilac
6. Burning Wheels Turning

Musicians;
Uli Jon Roth- Guitar/Vocals
Ule W. Ritgen- Bass
Clive Edwards- Drums

These recordings are "rough mixes/demos" for the 1st ULI JON ROTH & ELECTRIC SUN release called EARTHQUAKE. They were likely recorded in or around Late 78 to early 79. The biggest difference in these recordings is the backing tracks. Very little Drums or Percussion can be heard in comparison to the finished songs. Here they are just that...."rough" None of these versions were ever "Offically" released.~ LB
ENJOY THE MUSIC!

Disclaimer: This recording should not be confused with the series labelled "The Dan Lampinski Tapes Volume XX". This recording represents part of Dan's earliest efforts to capture the live concert experience for posterity, hence the series name "Dan Lampinski - The Early Years Volume XX". Given the very consistent high quality of Dan's later work, it would have been easy to blow off these recordings and consign them to the dustbin of history, but there are quite a few captures in the series that are well worth circulating, if not for their rarity, but for the obsessive collector types (we know who we are) that want every single second of any recordings of their favourite musicians. So please, just accept these recordings for what they are, another part of the tapestry we weave when we collect and share such things.
Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.
Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.
Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you.

OU: A rarity in the trading field these days - a genuine soundboard recording from Static-X. I've no info on the equipment used, but I do know that it went from the board directly to a DAT tape. (I transfered it from the tape to a CDR for trading, and then never had any interest in it. I'm trying to get rid of all my CDRs, so I'm seeding them before I chuck the discs. Yum.) An overall excellent show in the best quality you could hope for.

MIA: Something There is About You, Like a Rolling Stone, Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)

On one interesting shelf in the JEMS archives are tapes of Dylan's 1974 tour with the Band. Our own S taped the Seattle shows and then drove to Oakland (on a gasless Sunday, he'll remind you, as this was in the middle of the energy crisis) to record both sets there. After the tour completed, S took out classified ad (which I hope to find some day) in Rolling Stone magazine looking to trade tapes of the tour with others who recorded.
He didn't collect the entire tour, but he did track down a handful of shows on reel to reel, including this late set from Houston. Given when and how it was obtained, and what S has told me over the years, he got these tapes from people who recorded the shows themselves, so there's a strong reason to believe this show is legitimately second generation. I assume second generation because the cassette may have been moved to a safety reel, of which this is a copy. Given the duration, it appears the taper was on cassette (gear unknown) and captured just north of 90 mins of the show, conserving tape, as was often the case in those days, by pausing between songs.
As such many of these tracks are joined a second or two in progress, but you still come away with feeling of hearing the entire show. As the recent posts of '74 tapes has made clear, this tour wasn't consistently well recorded and there are several shows for which the only circulating recordings are often described as passable, listenable or worse. I would call this one very listenable. Not amazing, but based on input from a few tour experts, better than we have had before. Samples provided. I think it is in upgrade and I've been working on it for some time, so the release with the rest of the '74 tour flood is good timing.
Also, unlike the circulating recordings from Houston per Lossless Bob (and this source is likely to be the same as something previously circulated, just lower gen and possible more complete), the full Band set is here. What's not here is the encore.
JEMS has the afternoon show on a separate reel from what appears to be the same taper. That will come down the road if folks like this source. Please let me know as these old reels are finicky and I want to make sure people care given the effort it takes.
Butterking for JEMS
