Thank you for all the old and newer Dead posts. It's great to see their presence from so many different eras here at the best site on the net!
The venue was Auditorium Theater and it was broadcast on WXRT FM. The encore, US Blues, is not included.
Coming soon, another show from the same time: Left In the Vaults Vol. 3. Boston Music Hall 6-12-76. Both Mission In The Rain and Promised Land are cut from the first set, and The Wheel from the second set, but the rest sounds great!

I have a lossy copy of this already. I'm grabbing this Lossless copy as part of my 2009/2010 project to replace all my lossy source discs with Lossless. But I'm definitely not someone who would ever imagine calling 6/29/76 a great show, much less imagine that "there are some who rate this as the best show of 1976".
I wouldn't be posting this comment if all I was bring to the communal table was snark. One of my first 76 tapes was the second set from 6/14/76. Maybe that's why I think 6/14/76 is one of the best, possibly "the" best, of '76. This show has just gone up over at Live And Lossless. Check it out!

It's hard to say which Dead show is best. It's totally subjective to personal choice. Afterall look at how many shows they have available on bootleg, and how many differant versions(sources) there are for each show. mastered, re-mastered, matrixed, whatever. My favorite years are 70, 72, 73, 74, 77, and 79. But that does not mean there are not many interesting and worthwhile shows from any other year. That's the great thing about the Grateful Dead's career, they were sucessful at keeping themselves and their fans interested for thirty years!
There are an enormous amount of Grateful Dead shows available, and an enormous amount of reliable information that can be used to reference each show. One site where you can research any show is the "Deadlists home page". You can find information on each version of every available show, and read fans reviews, and ratings of each show. This can be very helpful to help make good decisions on which shows you should collect. There are also books like the "Deadhead's taping compendiums" which offer reviews of almost every show ever recorded. Setlist.com provides setlists for every show,and gives fans an opportunity to rate each show from poor to excellant. I hope that helps some people.

Thanks for this, i have most of 76, but not this one. I'd like to throw in my 2 cents and recommend 7/18/76 as what i find to be my favorite show of all time...it has an unbelievable jam intertwining many song (check the set list, i think Lazy Lightning through Stella Blue makes for 13 tracks of one seemless jam...only bad thing is the whole jam won't fit on one CD, but i play everything through my computer now. That said, 72-74 is still my favorite era, but if you like a good jam, check out 7/18/76!
