Very very good show. The digital soundboard recording makes it super nice. Excellent action in Jack Straw opener - they rock HARD, followed by a sweet Half-Step. The Let it Grow is decent (there are what seem to be a few Jerry-flubs) but then what follows with Bruce leading the way is so incredibly pretty; beautiful actually. Such an inspired jam out of Let it Grow, then following into a nice Box set closer. Second set starts out strong, with a SWEET Eyes opener. Bruce is again dominant throughout the tune and the boys have a very nice segue into Samson - without pause. The Dark Star is a wonderful second set highlight, long and jammed. Definitely worth the DL.

I listen to this show every year as it was performed on my birthday. The "Black Throated Wind" is one of my favorite renditions.

ericjmz is going to go apeshit over the Dark Star. BTW Eric, I don't have access to that longest Dark Star, I just know of its existence from reading Dead Base. Good luck in your quest for it! Also, thanks for the link to the one in Rotterdam, I will check it out.

Although not close to my favorite D.S., this is still a great listen...and to hear the fans go bonkers as they slyly 1/2 play the 1st few notes,as if holding back whether they will do it or not,& then roll into it...well its just magical! The Hornsby input...to my surprise...is outstanding.
It just shows to go you that even if you have any preconceived notions as to this Dead better than that Dead, there are still gems of listening experiences out there from near any era you can throw your hat at.
