This two-record vinyl boot must have sold a million copies, because it seems that just about everyone used to have one. The sound quality is really nice considering the audience recording technology of 1971. Neil is quite talkative, and his "comedy" on "Sugar Mountain" is hilarious. I consider this show essential to a live Neil Young collection.
This is from mint-condition records; I was told they'd been played only six times. Still, you'll notice the vinyl noise -- boots in that era were not exactly high-quality pressings. It has been declicked. This recording has never emerged among collectors from a non-vinyl source.
CD case artwork is included; it's made from the original album jacket, including some incorrect titles because many songs were unreleased at the time. I still can't figure how they got "It's So Hard to Wait" for "On the Way Home."

Great post! The Seventies were NY’s golden years – both as a solo artist and with Crazy Horse. Any chance of more quality recordings from that decad. For instance 1976 with Crazy Horse or 1978 solo at The Boarding House in San Francisco?

As someone who taped a beat out copy of the LPs in the late 1980s and has been listening to it ever since (got a better copy in MP3 last year ... and now I'm D/Ling this lossless version...), and has gotten nearly a hundred other Neil shows in the two decades I've been listening to it, I support the above statement 100%.!!!!!!!!

Boarding House 78 show from 5/24/78 is available on the internet somewhere as "World Tour '78". I don't remember where i found it, but I know it's out there.

The reason I mentioned Neil stuff from the seventies on this blog was that QualityBoots usually has materials in better - or much better - sound quality than so many other blogs. This NY acoustic show from 1971 is a good example.
