The 77s: Dayton 2008 (Soundboard) FLAC

In the 80s, at a time when Christian Artists were hoping to be relevant and gain respect outside the confines of the Christian music industry, many hoped that their debut Island release would break them into the big time. Too bad U2's Joshua Tree was released the same day and took a good portion of Island’s promotional resources.
Here is a great Soundboard show from the 77s on their latest Holy Ghost Buiding tour. The show was recorded at the Canal St. Tavern in Dayton Ohio 6/28/08.
Anyone who ever saw one of their legendary sets at the Cornerstone Festival might even try to convince you that they were the greatest rock band that you never heard of.

This is an upgrade of the second disc of Harvested's BBC Archives 1970-1971 (HRV CDR 007) which features the complete 1971 performance. The previous version, which we created over 6 years ago, used the same sources as above except that "One of These Days" and "Echoes" were taken from broadcast transcription CDs that were sent to radio stations in the 1980's. Back then I foolishly assumed that this "new" CD format would yield better sonic results than the vinyl transcription LP that I had. Wrong!
This new version features a brand new 48kHz/24Bit transfer of the BBC vinyl (BBC Rock Hour) that was done at a professional recording studio and captured with ProTools. All pops, clicks, and imperfections were manually removed one-at-a-time. No EQing or NR was applied.
The BBC only have a mono version of this show in their archives which we used as a blueprint to reassemble this TRUE stereo version. Since "The Embryo" was never included on the transcription LPs, we used a 1st generation audio cassette recording from a WNEW broadcast and edited it into the show in its proper sequence. We did the same for the improv "Blues" jam which was also sourced from the WNEW broadcast.

HHO presents WYBATTTS - The DVD Soundtrack. After listening to the audio in my car for a few weeks, I feel it's worthy of a separate release. After conferring with my partner Sydb, the decision was made to go forward with the audio release.
The original DV-AVI capture was used. The audio was already in wav form at 16/48. I resampled the audio in CEP2 using the highest quality setting. Track splitting was done using CDWAV.

OU: This is a rare treat. The single sexiest voice in rock performing most of her Fleetwod Mac hits and some of her lesser known songs, with her own band.
I saw Fleetwood Mac at the old Fillmore East when they played a triple header with Savoy Brown and Fairport Convention. It was in the late sixties when Danny Kirwin and Jeremy Spencer were in the band. It was the first time I had ever heard McVie's voice and I have been in love whit her ever since.
Lots of people think that Stevie Nicks was the voice of Fleetwood Mac, since they have never heard Christine before Buckingham and Nicks joined the band. To those, I say go back to the "Kiln House" album and work you way forward. You won't regret it.
This show was part of the "Superstars In Concert" series.
So, here she is, in all her glory....the very wonderful Christine McVie.

Mr. Mister: New York 1985 (Broadcast Rip) FLAC

Here's a show by Mr. Mister, whose larger-than-life catharses are played out right in front of your face. It's also a rip from an MTV broadcast from the Ritz on December 14, 1985.
This show was taped on Hi-Fi VHS, directly from MTv in 1985. The audio was fed directly into Sound Forge. The Mr. Mister show had a bass boost (+4db<250hz) as it seemed flat. Flac Frontend was used, level 8, sectors aligned and verified.

OU: The artwork has it as a Cosmic Energy Release but I'm not sure this is the same one although it shares the same title.
Got this in a trade recently. Great to see Jimmy in some good footage from this era. This was shot by MTV and for some reason was never aired. Appears to be a VHS transfer a couple generations old and is pretty dark at times for a proshot. Maybe that's why it never aired.When the stage lights are bright, it looks very good. Isn't quite as crisp videowise as I would like but it still kicks ass. A few of the songs are incomplete. The interview is great.
The soundcheck is cool but Jimmy plays the maestro rather than picking up the guitar much during it

OU: This was the headline concert, in the new BBC Radio 2 In Concert series, from Stevie Wonder yesterday evening, recorded exclusively for BBC Radio 2 at the Abbey Road studios in London in 2005. The Gods were with me as there is barely any FM hiss!
I had a bash at song titles but I'm not that familiar with his stuff - I dare say that the BBC will put up a song list in due course.
The programme is introduced by Jo Whiley. After studying in Brighton and dabbling on BBC Radio Sussex's new music show, her first broadcasting job proper was as a presenter for WPFM, Radio 4's youth culture and music show. She then moved over into TV, initially on satellite, then to Channel 4 as band booker for 'The Word', giving Britain its first television taste of bands such as Nirvana and Rage Against The Machine.
Jo joined Radio 1 in the Spring of 1993 and in September she became permanent co-presenter of The Evening Session with Steve Lamacq. Four years later she landed her own daytime show, and remained part of Radio 1's weekday line-up until 2009, when she began a new weekend programme.
Jo has also presented coverage of the Glastonbury Festival on Radio 1, Channel 4 and BBC-TV. She's also hosted several music programmes for Channel 4.

Pink Floyd: The M-502 (1971 - Must Have!) .shn

let's try the mega again. (I tested it both on lix and link)

One of my Top 10 and a True Must-Have!
This is the holy grail of Pink Floyd recordings of indeterminate origin. I've been collection RoIOs since high school (when vinyl was king) and even then this was the one to get.
M-502 is the matrix number of the original 2-LP vinyl set that was made in Europe sometime in the (late?) 70's. Although there are many different versions of this show, all of them are sourced from a M-502 vinyl copy.
Some sound better than others, none of them sound anything like this. This 2-CDR set comes from a mint condition original LP, and has been beautifully remastered by the Digital Floyd Archives (some reports say that the original vinyl was made by MFSL before they became a specialty brand). Not only is this one of the best sounding recordings (especially of this era), this is one of the best vinyl remastering jobs I have ever heard.
The performance: Wow. This seems to be the only concert with the brass/choir on Atom Heart Mother where the brass section didn't make any mistakes! Also, the 18+ minute version of A Saucerful of Secrets is probably the definitive version of this song. Did I mention that this is my favorite version of Careful With That Axe, Eugene? Roger's doesn't scream, he roars. Hold on to your hat.

Details: This release combines two consecutive nights at Winterland on 3 CDs.
CD1 and CD2 tracks 1 to 5 are from Saturday October 25, 1969.
CD2 tracks 6 to 9 and CD3 are from Sunday October 26, 1969.
The sources used for this release are superb sounding soundboard tapes (possibly transferred directly from the master reels), already circulating in the past. But the present release is different than the previous circulating versions, because the main problem of the original reels was corrected (or at least attenuated).
Indeed, the original recordings were made using extreme stereo separation, with vocals on the left channel only, and rhythm section on the right channel (the guitars are often left channel oriented, but it changes sometimes during the recording). While the stereo separation itself was not a problem, the balance between the two channels was fluctuating a lot, most of the time with drums too loud compared to the vocals. And even for a single channel, there were level fluctuations too (the vocals were mixed much louder than the guitar tracks, resulting in a left channel with very loud vocals during the verses and barely audible guitar parts during the instrumental sections).
The purpose of this remaster was to correct all these fluctuations (between channels and inside each channel) so that the recording can now be enjoyed with a good and consistent balance between the different instruments and voices.
As usual, I also tried to clean manually every flaw that could be corrected. A small missing portion on Eskimo Blue Day (CD2 track 1) was restored. The intro on Good Shepherd (CD2 track 5) was partially restored too.
Please note that the remastering process did not use any EQ or NR, and that there was no attempt to have a more "centered" recording. So, the stereo separation is still extreme, but that's an interesting listening experience, since you can hear all the details. If you listen only to the right channel, you have a fantastic example of the strong interactions between Jack Casady and Spencer Dryden, showing how much powerful and groovy this rhythm section of the Airplane was. And if you concentrate on the left channel, you can hear all the subtleties of the vocal harmonies.

OU: "Little Queen of Cincinnati"
One of the few shows that Eric is doing with Roger Daltrey. I located myself to a position where there was no noise around me. This made for a recording with little audience noise or chatter. My location was near dead center in the rear of the theater. A very enjoyable show with Eric in fine form. The musical highlight for me was Cocaine ... no just kidding, it was Little Queen of Spades.
In terms of the recording itself, it came out very nice. Jasman57 improved the original sound greatly by doing a bit of bass trimming, adding to the high-end, and more stereo separation.

OU Notes: Acquired this from one of the Tull road crew several years ago & then promptly forgot I had it. Does not seem to have surfaced anywhere, so this should help fill in the missing gaps at The Ministry of Information. The very first track on the tape is the instumental Quartet, played over the PA in the theatre, and which can be found on the Nightcap album (highly recommended). The first instrumental is also incomplete - otherwise the this is the concert in its entirety.

1. Correct significant speed error.
2. Create Stereo Field from Mono recording
3. Correct Channel Imbalance
4. Adjust dynamics and correct low volume segments.
5. Repair missing sections.
6. Remove clicks and pops due to tape.
7. Re-track.
8. Rare tape distortion still present. For example, Hunting Girl beginning distorts during loud section. Recording level seems to have been turned down during the song, eliminating further distortion.

Cover, label scans and modified cd artwork included.
