Well I was curious as to how long I have been delaying this tree for. So I opened the old Out Box in Eudora and noticed a mail to Sean Zloch on 07Jul97 in which I first told him my intentions for an Animals Tour Tree. Almost a year later the tree is nearly ready to go and certainly at a point where I can begin taking signups.......
Here's what I can definetely tell you about the tree thus far. Like I've said multiple times this will be a two show set. One show from the European tour (late January - end of March 1977) and one from the North Amercian "In The Flesh" tour (late April - mid May; mid June - early July 1977).
So without further delay here are the shows that will be treed and my reason for selecting them:
01Feb77 Vienna - I've always favoured this show in my collection of 1977 shows. Its a great performance of the 2 sets while the band were still keen on the tour. Remember this is within 10 days of the tour beginning. The Sound Quality is above avg for the European shows that are on tape and the speed is dead on.
27Jun77 Boston - This one is also one of my favorites from the 1977 tour. The Sound Quality ranks this show as one of the best from 1977 as a whole and the performance is very polished as was the norm during the later part of June. Roger is only a few days away from his outbreaks in New York and Montreal so the performance has an angry sense to it.
And now my mystery filler for the tree. I wanted something to fill the tapes that would be 1977 related so I decided it would be cool to record all of Roger's number yells from the tour in a row. This will fill part of the tapes. The second idea for filler which I received from Gerhard is to dub down all of Roger's rants from New York, which I will do. I'm also going to dub the 2nd encore from 29Jun77 Philadelphia. This was performed sans Roger Waters so its kind of an oddity, (Roger was sick in case you didnt' know this was the show that inspired comfortably numb).
