Well, first: What this Release has to do with a raw master is ah... mh... err..., well at least it once WAS a Raw Master!
Ok, this time for real. To say it in a few words: Man, what a show!!! As buffalofloyd say in his txt "[...] the show is absolutely stellar [...] but CwtAE and FOS steal the show.".
This is really one of the greatest Floyd-Moments ever captured, and this is why I decided to polish it up. Here's the result. This is only for your dining and dancing pleasures, it´s not meant as a substitute or even upgrade to buffalo's release.
And this is where there "Purist Warning" has to be given.
In addition to the lineage of buffalofloyd's original "New Mown Grass" there is:

notes: What you now have in your possesion is quite possibly the greatest live Pink Floyd performance ever captured. CwtAE and FOS are amongst the best renditions I have ever heard.
The rest of the show is absolutely stellar as well but CwtAE and FOS steal the show.
Gilmour and Rick were exceptional on this night and they're playing on these two tracks is enough to make you shed a tear.
I am pleased to present to you a speed and pitch corrected version of this event in history. Previously this tape was out of pitch and the speed was a bit slow. I have corrected this. And now for the disclaimer... I do all my speed and pitch adjustment by ear only and not with the use of comparing against other shows or individual tracks or any crazy tools. I do not guarantee the speed or pitch to be completely accurate, this is basically my interpretation of the way I have always wanted this show to sound. No remastering was applied to this at all (as if it needs any).

First of all, many thanks to Kadjia for originally sending me this great recording of the famous "Reunion Show" of Janis and Big Brother.
This is a VG+ audience recording. On many places, the right channel was badly damaged, so I fixed it. Now you can tell there's a slight change in the sound when the fixing begins but that's all. I also had to remove a lot of gaps and glitches from Disc 2. Other than these fixes, the original recording has been left untouched.
The last two songs are from another audience source. Unfortuantely, it's of lesser quality, VG at best.
Anyway, this is a really great show and the sound quality is really enjoyable so I'd recommand any music lover to get it.

It includes some nice horns work courtesy of David Sanborn, and the inclusion of Chuck Berry's "Carol" at the end is a bonus (but unfortunately, the song fades out a little past the one-minute mark...bummer). A must-have show for any Eagles fan or sorta Eagles fan.

About "The RS Archives":
The RS Archive consists of a selection of live recordings made by a great individual who passed away in 2005.
RS worked in the music industry in many capacities….a music fan….a musician….a sound engineer. He was considered one of the best behind the mixing board. I was honored to have known him for practically 35 years. There was no one like him….he was a wonderful human being. Everybody loved him. He was a level-headed guy who knew what sounded good and what didn't. He could conceive and design sound systems from scratch in his head to meet the artist’s needs. Whatever they wanted, he could do.
For years, he mixed music at the annual Grammy Awards and the American Music Awards television show. RS worked closely for years with Daryl Hall and John Oates, Juice Newton, Anita Baker, Mariah Carey, Tears for Fears, Crack the Sky, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Aretha Franklin, Pink Floyd, Whitney Houston, Bette Midler, Ann Murray, Michael Bolton, Kenny G, Tony Bennett, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, Bonnie Raitt, Frank Sinatra, John Hiatt, Little Feat, Little Village, and Waylon Jennings…..to name a few.
He had a huge reputation in the business, and that's why he was chosen to work with such budding clients as Mariah Carey. With the major stars, he was one of the preferred engineers they choose to work with. A particular client of RS who had a reputation for firing sound engineers with great regularity was Anita Baker, whom he won over not only with his technical abilities and personality, but with his refusal to put up with her criticism. He quit a few times but always came back because she loved the way he mixed her music. He could coddle difficult and temperamental celebrities, and they respected his work. He was able to kick back and get along with them. Even though he knew these people, he was a very modest man.
So now, it is time to honor him by sharing some of the many recordings he made while on the road. All are perfect (or near perfect) soundboard recordings made from the master cassettes or master dat tapes. Unfortunately, I am not able to identify the original equipment these tapes were made on, however I can say that for the transferring process, the cassette tapes were played back on a Nakamichi CR-7A, and the dat tapes on a Sony PCM-R500. They were all burnt onto cdr using a HHB CDR-850.

I would say the sounding is 10/10, superb soundboard recording from this Ronnie James Dio era.
Since Tony Iommi fell down ill on this show during "Heaven And Hell," they didn't play Paranoid and Children Of The Grave. (In other word, no encore)
But still it's really cool to hear Ronnie's Sweet Leaf, N.I.B., and Lady Evil.
Complete show. Originally released as "Angel And Demon" bootleg.

Description: ‘Live on the Darkness on the Edge of Town’ from the Watchdog label features a newly unearthed source tape of the famous ‘Largo 78’ pro-shot footage.
This ~2nd generation copy is a major improvement in picture quality when compared to the previously circulated 3rd/4th generation versions. The washed out colours are replaced by more vivid tones and the rolling lines of interference are (mostly) absent.
Whilst undeniably a great upgrade, this is still not the ‘Holy Grail’ that some had hoped for. ‘Jungleland’ is still cut and the tantalising clips from the show in documentaries such as ‘Glory Days’ demonstrate that there is still plenty of room for further improvement. The bitrate is also rather low (the show is squeezed onto one and a half discs) and so an XP transfer of the same tape would probably be slightly better.

The DVD also includes some truly fantastic extras. The Phoenix ’78 footage will be familiar to most collectors and here it is presented from no less than four different source. The best of these (#1) appears to be from an original CBS promo tape with a razor-sharp image, but unfortunately a time stamp is superimposed on the bottom of the frame. The other sources are similar to what we’ve seen before, except for ‘Promised Land’ which is in poor quality.

Finally, the pro shot footage of Bruce’s guest spot with Southside Johnny at the Agora Club, Cleveland in 1978 is also drawn from a stunningly good new source. The set is wrapped together with some fairly average menu designs.

This currently represents the best version of this classic show.

Continuing this series of Camel recordings, the second of their few known recordings of their 'Snow Goose' tour of 1975...

This recording is one of the better documents of a complete 'Snow Goose' show. It is a very good stereo cassette recording, well traded over the years. It is also known as 5th Dec 1976, 5th September 1975 and 12th May 1975, however 5th December 1975 is the correct date, verified from a promotional poster. The setlist is typical of this time.

I have this from two traded CDRs:

* version 2: 61min, better sound; 1. White Rider, 2. Supertwister, 3-19. Snow Goose, 20. Lady Fantasy (only the first two minutes).

TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
This is a fine Billy Joel concert, performance and sound quality-wise. You really get a feeling of comfort and appreciation in the venue and from the audience. The text file that came with the source recording claims it may be a preFM recording, which is certainly the most probable suggestion, henceforth, I listed it as such.
There is a wealth of low end on this recording, which is typical of a preFM source. Unfortunately, it is a little distracting and buries the vocals and other mid-high frequency elements somewhat. I have drastically altered the low-mid range frequency response of the recording and re-balanced the channels which were not in sync with each other. The recording now sounds bright and clear and ultimately, in my opinion, better. This one is for even the casual Billy Joel fan like myself, enjoy!

A small compilation of Doors live recordings in the best quality available.
The first three tracks are from the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco (the accepted date for these tracks is March 4, 1967 -- however, there's a chance they're actually from May 1967). The first two songs are sourced from a 2nd generation tape while "Who Do You Love" is sourced from a bootleg box set. This same version of "Who Do You Love" is often incorrectly included with copies of the March 7, 1967 Matrix show. The only change I made to "Who Do You Love" was swapping the channels to match the other two Avalon songs. Tracks 4-6 are simply mono mixes of Tracks 1-3 that I created for easier listening. It can be annoying to hear all the vocals in one channel and most of the instruments in the other. So, personally, I prefer to listen to the Avalon '67 tracks in mono and thought I'd include them as a bonus.
Track 7 is from The Family Dog in Denver (September 30, 1967) and is the best quality I've been able to track down. A version I obtained that was labelled a master clone was missing the opening and definitely had noise reduction applied to it. So it was either a bootleg source that someone tried to pass off as a low gen or an incomplete version of the master source with noise reduction applied -- either way, I'd rather circulate the "First Flash Of Eden" source as it's better quality all around and likely came from a very low gen source. The only change I made to this track was some speed-correction. The original track was 9:07 long and ran too slow. (Track 8 is simply a mono mix of Track 7.) According to Greg Shaw, who supposedly transferred the original tape, there is a possibility that the recording attributed to this date may actually be from one of The Doors' December performances at the Family Dog in 1967. Though the "First Flash Of Eden" bootleg states that this song is from The Doors appearance at the Denver University Student Union the night before (September 29, 1967), Shaw claims that this song is all that survives from an entire reel recorded at the Family Dog and that it was the last song performed that night. What leads some credence to the bootleg label, however, is that The Doors' performance at Denver University was professionally filmed for an ABC-TV special called "Bruce Morrow's Music Power." A few months later, in November 1967, ABC chose to air only one song from that night in the special. Which song did the network broadcast? "Light My Fire." To date, no recording of that television special has surfaced, leading some to wonder if this song could actually be from that program.
Rounding out this compilation are two songs from the Winterland Arena show on February 6, 1970. These come from a 2nd generation audience recording. For some reason, a lot of the versions out there of this source are cut. Thanks to "wha happened" at the Freedom Man forums, I was finally able to get a complete source with no cuts to share with everyone. So a big thank you to him for helping out with this source.

Albert King: Blues Alley, D.C. 1981 (Good+ Aud) FLAC

Notes from taper.
Here is another nice show of Albert King this time. This was the first time that I saw him perform. It was at a famous but small jazz club in Washington, D.C. called the Blues Alley. This is the first set and was transferred direct from tape to CDR. I really don't have the personnel info. He does announce the musicians but I never got a chance to jot it down when I transferred this a while ago, sorry. Enjoy!

The Wh?: Fillmore West 1968 (Unreleased Album) FLAC

This one is Sunrise SR-0012 bootleg from their show on 6th April 1968 in NY, Fillmore East Festival (as title suggests). The show is not complete, since I'm a Boy is missing (information as stated here http://www.thewholive.de/details/index.php?id=893&Tracklisting=&GroupID=1&Tag=06&Monat=04&Jahr=1968&Stadt=New%20York&Halle=&LandID=3&StateID=11). The back-cover includes this information: "A stereo soundboard recording of a classic Who concert! Taped for a possible album release, but this never happened. A forerunner to Live at Leeds, it is now available, right here, in excellent quality!"
As bonustracks they present us 3 tracks from French TV "Seize Millions de Jeune" avec DJ Rosco, broadcast 1966.10.18. This video can be found on the The Who Voorburg 1973 DVD as bonustracks as well, if I am not mistaken.

Albert Collins: Monterey Jazz Festival 1978 (Soundboard Master Reels) FLAC

9-16-78.
This is from a Reel to Reel Master. My friend and I got a chance to transfer some great mono soundboards from Reel to Reels in the early 80's. This is actually a Teac Reel to Reel to Cassette (top of the line Yamaha cassette deck from the 80's) and then transferred straight to my Philips CDR-765 deck. This is as close to a 1 generation as possible since the reels where sent off to never-neverland surplus probably never to see the light of day from the original source. CD Burners didn't exist yet so I had to wait until they we're available to transfer this show This is a live soundboard that may or may not have been broadcast. I think you'll be pleased with the sound quality. Running time is about 46 minutes. Again, I used the top of the line Maxell tapes and transferred this to my Philips CDR-765 deck.
I don't know the personnel except that Albert mentions Mike Henderson Band which was probably backing him up.

BB King, T-Bone Walker, Buddy Guy & More: Monterey Jazz Festival 1967 (Master Soundboard Reels) FLAC

OK Blues Fans, here's a special treat. BB King playing with his idol (T-Bone Walker) on BB's birthday at the Monterey Jazz Festival 9-16-67. The set starts off with T-Bone Walker doing what he does best. Next, is a nice set of BB King with the last 2 songs joined by T-Bone Walker which BB claims is his idol. During the second track with T-Bone, BB totally messes up the introductions...sounds like he's nervous playing with T-Bone. As a bonus I've included The great Otis Rush playing in a trio format at the Prague Jazz festival with Chicago legends Fred Below and Jack Myers and Buddy Guy and Junior Wells from the same venue. I have no other date just the 1966 year for those sets. This is all the complete shows of these concerts that I have.

The date is actually July 28th. NOT July 31st as it states on the artwork. This is likely the best Randy Rhoads recording we will ever see. Randy was getting better and better. The further along he was getting in his classical guitar development, the more advanced his playing was getting.
Unfortunately we never got to see how far he could take it. Because of the very unfortunate (and stupid) plane-crash on that horrible day on March 19th. Almost 25 years ago now.

ZZ Top: Best Of The Biscuit 1980 (Pre-FM) FLAC

Vinyl cleaned with Nagaoka roller record cleaner. Played back on Technics SL-1200 turntable with Stanton 681EEE cartridge through an Akai preamp into a SoundBlaster Live! 16 bit soundcard that has been grounded.
Wavelab 4.0 used for Digital ReMastering. Although I did use some compression techniques and De-Crackling plug-ins, in no way do they detract from the raw dynamism of the performance on stage.
Recording levels boosted and balanced, initial De-Clicker to remove most pops, stereo expansion 33%, multiband compression to re-enforce lows and air-out the highs, dynamics processing for smoothing, another De-Crackler to take out most ticks and picks, final mix compression and limiting.
Trader's Little Helper turned the wav files to FLAC level 8 files.

Notes from original uploader: I originally first recorded this show in the early eighties from radio in Vancouver, B.C. This was still before all the videos and fur covered spinning guitars with television sets built into them, and even before their trademark beards were quite so bushy.
It made me a fan for life. Imagine my surprise a few years later to acquire the actual records the radio had played! What an upgrade! Wow. Working in a collector's record store had it's priviledges!
Through the years, I've taped these slabs o' vinyl for many many people. About a year ago I finally got around to transferring them to my computer to put them on CD. I wasn't happy with how flat and dull they sounded.
I spent several months (off and on again) doing listening tests and messing around with several mastering techniques. I tried EQ, several different filter-y thingies, harsh radio compression, etc... Lots of crazy tricks...
I finally settled on the settings I described earlier. I tend to go for 'less is more' and subtlety of processing is the key to success. I've heard some 'ReMasters' that really sound ReMastered! That is, you can hear how processed the sound has become.
The main criteria of my listening tests was that if I could 'hear the ReMaster' job, it was processed too much, and should be scrapped. I found settings that improved it but still let it sound analog.
This version is an improvement over my raw vinyl transfer, by far. The original's really OK, but had some surface noise due to repeated heavy-handed radio play. It also sounded thin, and the transfer was done at a slightly lower volume.
My ReMaster bumps the levels up to slightly less than average levels of today's CD releases. They sure do master modern discs too loud these days! I also killed probably 90% of the vinyl groove imperfection sounds, but left a reminder that the source was a record. Not over-processed...
I recently found out there is a bootleg of this 'out there', but I don't think it is from a pre-FM source like this is.
I included everything relevant on the records : commercials, test tone and all! I re-ordered the promo spots, and cut the silence bands between commercials and program, but everything else is there. Honest.

Boston: Boston Garden 1978 (VG Aud) FLAC

This is one of my favorite Boston boots from years past. It's Boston in their prime and in their home town! The crowd was rowdy and the band fed off of that. Tom Scholz even instructed the crowd to ignore the rules and stand on their seats if they wanted to.

This recording was widely traded for years on cassette, and eventually released on a bootleg CD called "Party to Boston". But finding a good audio source proved difficult. I finally obtained a 2nd gen cassette tape which sounds way better than any tape of this show I had heard previously... and sounds *much* better than "Party to Boston" (which is even missing a song).

No work has been done to the audio other than transfer and normalization. Personally, I think it sounds great just as it is. But this is a good reference copy to work from if anybody feels bold enough to try their hand at it.

I reworked the artwork from "Party to Boston" to fit this boot. Everything is exactly as it was except for the back. It now reflects two CDs and lists the missing song "Television Politician". I also added a slight drop shadow on the text for readability. The artwork is 200dpi.
