Comments: The Roger Waters 1985 North American tour is history. It began in Detroit Michigan on March 19th and continued through fourteen cities including Cleveland, Toronto, Buffalo, New York, Philadelphia, Worchester, Oakland, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta, Hollywood (Florida), and Lakeland.
The tour was officially called "Pros and Cons Plus Some Old Pink Floyd Stuff - a multimedia
extravaganza with quadraphonic sound."
Roger has stated in interviews that he doesn't think people associate his name with Pink Floyd, and mentioning Pink Floyd in the name of the tour helped the association.
It was primarily Roger's idea for the tour since he felt the brief Pros and Cons tour of 1984 didn't accomplish everything he set out to do. He wanted more exposure as a solo artist so it was back out on the road. Unfortunately for Roger, his record company didn't agree that a tour was in order.
After all, he had no new product out, so what was he promoting by going out on tour? When asked about this, Roger said "I never get on with corporations. I mean, CBS is a machine. They have no interest in music at all. They tried to dissuade me from touring. They just don't understand."
Not exactly kind words for a company that's supposed to be promoting you. But Roger didn't let that stop him. He put together a fantastic show at no small expense. It took a crew of fifty using five semi trucks to move the equipment from gig to gig. The band he assembled were top notch musicians, primarily the musicians from the 1984 Pros and Cons tour, including: Michael Kamen, Mel Collins, Andy Newmark, Doreen Chanter and Katie Kissoon. Eric Clapton, who had been the guitarist on the 1984 tour was out on a tour of his own so a replacement had to be found. The new guitarists were Jay Stapley and Andy Fairweather Low. Snowy White, who had originally been scheduled for the tour didn't make it.
Some tracks have been edited to remove a couple of digital clicks

TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
I'd like to begin by thanking j-blokhed for this recording. Here is an amazing Clash show from late '78. This was a great period for the band who are in fine form and are complemented here by an excellent soundboard source. I decided to remaster this recording since I liked the performance so much and wanted to hear it in as high quality as possible. For the remastering, I applied virtually the same edits to all tracks. A couple of tracks were slightly different in frequency response and were adjusted accordingly. There were also a couple of drop-outs which I corrected as good as possible. No noise reduction of any kind has been used here. A low amount of hiss is present after equalizing but not enough to be a distraction or even heard at most levels. The equalization used is light in general as the recording only needed a cut in a few resonating frequencies and a slight boost in some higher frequencies. I hope you like what I've done and consider this an improvement over the original source. Enjoy!
Big thanks to j-blokhed for the source of this recording!

**** ORIGINAL TORRENT INFO ****
THE CLASH - 28 December, 1978
The Lyceum, London
Here's another SBD - and one of my favorites. The Clash played three shows around New Year's 1979 that were recorded for possible use in the film Rude Boy. The dates were Dec 28-89, 1978, and Jan 3, 1979.
The first of these shows to fall into collector's hands was a very good audience recording released first on LP, and then on CD, as "Sort It Out". This is NOT that show. The exact dates of these recordings has been in question, but I believe that "Sort It Out" (also released as "USA 1979" [sic] as well as other, later, titles) is in fact Jan 3, 1979. I think that this recording is Dec 28, 1978.
This tape fell into my hands indirectly from an inside source (KV), and was probably 2nd-3rd gen when recorded to CD-R. It has since spread throughout collector's circles, and the artwork included here is strictly homemade "fan club".
This is one of the very best - enjoy!

Led Zeppelin: New York 1977 (New Soundboard) FLAC

this is a completely new reup (glitch-free)
MagicalSoundBoogie_f
Artist: Led Zeppelin
Date: 1977-06-07
Venue: MSG
Location: New York, New York
Source: SBD
Lineage: Silver CD > EAC > WAV > Trader's Little Helper > FLAC(level 8)

Bootleg Title: Magical Sound Boogie (3CD)
Label: Empress Valley
All the EV boards came out from one tech who worked for Showco in the 1970s. All that bullshit saying that Page didn’t allow the copying of tapes is nonsense because after the concert all these tapes were stored in one place and were managed by the Showco sound engineers. The LA June 23rd 1977 sbd fragment was received from Showco’s employee and thus it’s proving some ties with the company.
The next board will cover either West Coast 75 or NY/LA run of 77 tour. Between 1969 and 1973 all the baord tapes were recorded by a different crew and this is the reason why they are not surfacing elsewhere except Jimmy’s own studio. Showco started working for Led Zeppelin in 1973 regulary if my mind is wroking properly :) but it wasn’t until 1975 when Photombeam (a guy from RO who posted some info about his employing as LZ laser operator) had been hired that the soundboards were managed by Showco’s crew. The closest road crew entourage that toured with the band between 1968 and 1973 consisted of five or six persons that were in really close tie with all four members of Led Zeppelin, some of them, as Mick Hinton (Bonham’s drum tech) was very close friend of some of the band members and this is the only reason why these boards will be never released. Those leaked in early 1990s are stolen from Page’s possession and this is all that exists. The same with 1980 run - no Showco, no boards.
So, I do not want to say we can expect another board from LA stint very soon but it’s more likely we will be faced with something from 1975 or 1979 (or even 1971-73 if some of tapes stolen are still in the hands of hoarders).
Happy listening, folks!

D & D Archives Master Series Volume 6
Notes:
EMS is proud to be able to partner with and present some of the choice recordings in the D & D archives. Some of these recordings have been around for years but none of the master tapes or safety copies in some cases have ever been digitized until now. Dave and Donn taped many shows in and around the Seattle area in the 70's and also were contemporaries of some of the JEMS members. Volume 6 captures an absolutely stunning performance from Santana at the Hec Ed Pavilion in Seattle. This recording was done exclusively by Donn using his Tc-126 and two mics mounted on poles about 20 feet about FOB. The 1st gen cassette portion comes from Dave's copy of the show. Unfortunately Dave is missing the other tape with the last half of the show so a 2nd gen copy of this recording uploaded to dimeadozen by Pbuzby was used to fill in the missing portion of the recording. This is an excellent sounding recording and performance capturing Santana touring in support of their Caravanserai album. This show features some of best live keyboard improvs of any Santana show you can think of. Caravanserai was Santana's most experimental musicial period. This is not music but a religious experience if you allow the music to lead the way.

Notes from BigO:
With Coke Escovedo, David Brown, Michael Carabello, Neal Schon and Greg Rolie gone, Santana were a new band in 1972 when they toured the West Coast of America and Canada. Carlos was reportedly sick at heart and depressed. It was during this time that he was turned on to Sri Chinmoy and became a devotee.
His music however remained positive as evidenced by the classic Caravanserai and the collaboration with John McLaughlin on Love, Devotion And Surrender. Santana kept himself busy with new projects but never lost touch with the band and his classic tunes.
This concert in Seattle was recorded by fan Don Amick, who hoisted two microphones on poles 20 feet apart directly in front of the soundboard to capture a stereo image of the band. A nice spot with hardly any echo in the audience recording. Everything is clear and sharp.
We have to thank the hard working Doc Tinker for assembling this recording from the best source, a first generation copy, which has no tape speed problems.
From the few recordings that survived from this tour, Santana bravely dropped Black Magic Woman, Gypsy Queen, Evil Ways and Oye Como Va from the setlist as if to say the band was bigger than the original musicians who had left.
Latin rock may never be as influential as it was in the '70s, so be thankful that back then a guy with a tape deck, two poles with mics attached could get into a concert hall and archive this show for all to hear 35 years later.
The reason most of the hits were omitted from the show on "Santana - Live in Seattle 1972" is because the group was temporarily without a lead singer, following the exit of singer/keyboardist Gregg Rolie and the arrival of singer/ percussionist Leon Thomas. The very few vocals in this show are by Carlos Santana himself. Reviewer criticisms of Santana's vocals prompted him to hire Leon Thomas, and then many of the hits were reinstated into the show, and the shows became much longer (as on the official "Santana-Lotus".

Roger Waters: Columbus 1987 (VG Aud) FLAC

RW_1987.09.06_Front_1
Roger KAOS is back! - Radio WTRS Expanded
1987 September 6 - The Ohio Center, Columbus, Ohio

Two source merge by TacoBurrito
source 1: audience / A [Low]>CDR[?]>WAV>SHN>WAV>tracked with Wave SE II
source 2: same recorder but from vinyl boot Roger Chaos - Radio WTRS

All Wave files tracked and merged >FLAC
No EQ or sound processing on tracks that originated from the SHN source.(Tracks 01-25)

Vinyl transfer by TacoBurrito: Technics turntable>preamp>SB Audigy 2>Wave Se II
Songs tracked, patched and vinyl manually declicked with Wave Se II
EQ and Vinyl surface noise/static filtering with Adobe Audtion 1.5: sample of the actual record surface noise was used as a noise reduction filter which substantially removed the backround noise and rumble without destroying the music.

OU: Here is the story with this release. Back in late 1987 or early 1988 I aquired a vinyl bootleg called Roger Chaos - Radio WTRS. It was one of the first and few available KAOS tour boots on vinyl. I really like the boot a lot. I wanted to identify the show so I could find a better copy in the digtal world. The record had no indication of the venue and date. The songs on the 2 record set were separated by silence (banded) and all indicators of where the show was recorded were removed. No calls from the hall, no interaction of Roger with the audience and it was missing some of the songs. The track listing was not correct on the cover either. For many years any hope of identifying the venue and date were thought to be hopeless.
Fast forward to 2008. I broke down and bought a replacement cartridge for my turntable and transferred the record to the PC. As I was was removing the surface noise and pops/crackles I discovered there was something unique about the recording which in the end made it possible to identify the venue and date.
First of all I discovered that the song 5:01 AM (The Pros And Cons of Hitch Hiking) was only played during the first 14 of the KOAS shows. Paul Carrack sang the song on the first 4 dates and Waters sang it the last 10 times it was played. Waters sang the song on my record so that meant I really only had to compare my record to 10 shows. One of the problems with this is 2 of the 10 shows are thought to have not been recorded, 1987-08-10 and 1987-08-20.
The second unique thing about this recording is that the song 5:01 AM (The Pros And Cons of Hitch Hiking) also starts out different than what I had been comparing it to. On my record the bass drum beats 29 times before the band starts playing. So as I began to compare the 8 shows that existed I discovered that the bass drum would beat 5 times before the band would start on the vast majority of the shows. Then I found the 1987-09-05 show has a 14 beat beginning. I figured it had to be the following night 1987-09-06 because no other show before the 5th was even close.. BINGO perfect match. Even the guitar solos in all the songs I compared matched up. Success. I have finally found the date the record was made from.
When I first found the SHN files for this date they were 2 huge SHN files. The songs weren't tracked. At first glance I thought I had found a complete recording to replace my vinyl. BUT this SHN version while it contained most of the show it was missing the last 4 songs. I had 3 of the 4 missing songs on my record strangely enough. The sound quality of the record is slightly more muffled than the SHN copy. Using a little EQ with Adobe Audition brings the vinyl close to the SHN source.
So what we have here in this release is the original copy that was traded in SHN, the songs are tracked now with the vinyl merged in about 8 seconds into the song Four Minutes and used for the remainder of the concert. The only song missing from this show now is The Tide Is Turning. The song fades out as it starts on my record so unless the taper or someone with the whole show releases it, this is is the best and most complete copy of the show I am aware of.

00 Brain Damage - first minute of vinyl before clean up.. WOW

notes: formerly mislabeled as 1987 November 09 - The Civic Center, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Waters clearly mentions Ohio during the show.
MANY thanks to who ever it was that released the SHN version into the wild. Without it the Floyd community would not know where the Vinyl copy was recorded. Now I only hope this sparks someone with the complete version to release it.
MANY MANY hours were spent researching the venue for the Waters boot Roger Chaos - Radio WTRS. I had to locate, download and compare each of the shows to make sure I had the right one.
MANY MANY hours were spent transferring the entire vinyl record and cleaning up the songs so they could be used. I had cleaned up about 35% of the record by the time I figured out which venue it came from. I then concentrated on the 3 main tracks used from the record that I was going to merge. I probably spent close to 40 hours alone cleaning up clicks, pops, crackle, hum, rumble and surface noise. Please enjoy the fruits of my labor. While it is not perfect I think the difference in the sample uncleaned file and the finished file speaks for itself.

OU: Anyone who has not got this is in for a real treat !! IMO it has the best versions of Organ Solo + Thank You. Unbelievably it's the first time I've played it in about 30 yrs and the two tracks from 4 Zep 1970 are superb quality.
I checked the matrix on the LPs and they match the one shown below i.e. 72016A - D. I've split Side 3 into 2 songs although it's listed as one in the book.

#260 Three Days After

S: LA Forum D: 6/3/73 - 9/4/70* Cv: Slk L: TMQ Smoking Pig
R: VG_EXS Co: TMQ Mx#: 72016A - D City USA

N.B. This was never released with the traditional TMQ pig labels. All of the original TMQ releases were made available with the small pig & coloured vinyl at some point, with the exception of this one. The oldest copy I have seen had a sort of linen-cardboard jacket with the usual slick & the smoking pig labels, this was on black vinyl. Later this was reissued from the same plates by RSR/International with a rubberstamped jacket & Oz labels. Also available from Titanic records with a 4 colour jacket with the matrix # 9004A-D & Kimber labels. Re-issued by Toasted with a 4 colour jacket from the original plates.

Ten Years After: Philadelphia 1970 (VG Aud) FLAC

bootlegcover
Mega-Rare Restored Vinyl "Live In Concert" Philadelphia Spectrum 1970-11-14 great show!

OUI think this bootleg has gotten a bad reputation, which it does not deserve. The concert itself is much better recorded than you might believe, and the performance is exciting. What has held it back from true stardom is the really bad CBM pressing. Fortunately, my copy is fairly clean and free of hiss caused during manufacture.
A fair amount of restoration work went into this piece. Large individual pops and clicks were "painted out", and the rest were filtered with Sound Forge's excellent vinyl suite. You can now hear the music clearly.
This is a great show! Artwork is included, but mine was on white paper.

Love Like A Man
I'm Coming On
Slow Blues In C
Good Morning Little Schoolgirl
Hobbit
Runtime 36 minutes

Enjoy!
