Pink Floyd: San Rafael 1970 (Speed Corrected VG+ Aud) FLAC

poster
1970-October-17
Master Tape (Speed Corrected)
Pepperland Auditorium San Rafael, California

Disc 1 - 79.19
1 Power Loss Problems 16.05
2 Astronomy Domine 6.47
3 Fat Old Sun 12.59
4 Cymbaline 12.32
5 Atom Heart Mother 21.32
6 The Embryo 9.22

Disc 2 - 51.11
1 Green intro & Tune-ups 1.25
2 Green Is The Colour 3.23
3 Careful With That Axe 12.27
4 Set The Controls 13.15
5 Saucerful Of Secrets 20.38

This is sourced from the Master Tape, via a DAT 4 gen tape. I've had this recording for quite awhile but rarely listened to it, due to the fact that it runs a bit fast. Well, I have finally decided to fix the speed problem. I hope you like the results.
Though the source recording has some minor problems (minor sonic bumps and some hiss - more so on Disc 2), this is a superb, clear sounding recording and is a definite upgrade to 'Best Of The Pepperland Tapes'.

Lineage: A0 > D3/4 > CDR > EAC(secure) > WAV (put each Disc in a single track) >
Speed Corrected (Audacity 1.2.3) at -3.8 > Indexed via CD Wave Audio Editor (1.93.3) > FLAC (Level 7)
Remastered by Scott Eden (2005-April)
Remastering notes: In determining the best speed change to make, I used the Pepperland Tapes as a guide. I found that while a speed change of -4.0 brought me in line with the Pepperland Tapes, it seemed a bit sluggish. I found -3.8 to be the best sounding.
I re-indexed things a bit. I broke the Astronomy Domine power problems into their own track. While interesting to hear once or twice, they are not something you want to repeatedly listen to. I also moved Embryo to the end of Disc 1. Since it segues
smoothly from AHM and has an abrupt cut at the end, it seemed more natural to place it at the end of a disc. I also indexed the tracks so that the song begins with the track, except for Saucerful.

This was the original uploader's closing comment to which I say 'Amen':
Obligitory plea.....DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER. I know what comments torrents of this type bring. BEFORE you comment, understand [this site] is a portal for sharing music, not for spreading hate. Sure this isn't Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa or the 2nd coming of Christ. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes in music, this show wasn't one for me, but taking my daughter to it and recording it made me the hero for her 14th birthday, this is here for the people who want it or want to kick it down to a loved one.
If it's not your cup of tea, please move along quietly, I'm sure that there are people on [this site] that have a strong dislike for what you upload or download from here too, but they keep it to themselves. Remember, I'm sure you have at least one of my recordings in your collection, you want me to feel like sharing more? please keep it civilized.

The DJ was very annoyingly talking during intro's and outro's, I edited it out the best I could. He even managed to forget to broadcast "Hello Goodbye" at the right spot!! He broadcasted it after "All you need is love", I fixed this is Adobe Audition.

Well if there was a contest for the best unofficial live recording ever - this one would definitely be in top-3 for metal. Top notch, or should I say perfect sound! More over it's the full show, as opposite to the other source i had. Nothing more to say, a must-have!

Motley Crue: Milan 1984 (VG++ Aud) FLAC

1984 quebec
Teatro Tenda, Milan - Nov. 12 1984
EXCELLENT AUDIENCE - GREAT QUALITY

01.In the beginning (intro)
02.Bastards
03.Knock'em dead
04.Shout at the devil
05.Ten seconds to love
06.Piece of your action
07.Red hot (with guitar solo)
08.Looks that kill
09.Live wire
10.Helter skelter

OU: I'm not into glam/street metal at all, but early Crue were dynamite. They opened for Iron Maiden in this tour.
Some weeks ago I've uploaded my version of this show which was very good (and from the same source), but this is ten times better than mine. This is one of the best audience recording I've ever heard.
I think it runs at correct speed, the only things that this version is lacking is the long crowd chattering after the last song (almost a minute in my version, a couple of seconds in this one), but no music is lost.

Just a Quick Note

fast-pace-spedometer

A quick letter to my friends,
I am finding my life spinning a little out of control. For my own well-being I need to slow down for a little while.
What does this mean to you?
After this weekend I will probably limit my posts to 3 or 4 a day - but only temporarily. I imagine that I can catch up on other more-pressing things in my life if I shave a little time here and a little time there. I have been dedicating almost two hours a day toward the blog and (for now) that is too much.
The "relationships" that I have with you truly mean something to me. I really do love you guys and I do not wish to disappoint or frustrate anyone but I simply have to do this.
I will continue to post boots everyday it just won't be as many for a couple of weeks.
I anticipate that I will be back to "full speed" (5 or more a day) by the end of November.

Thx for all of your support and encouragement. Take care and God bless.
-dave and the staff at qb (oh wait. there is no staff.)

OU Notes: JEMS is proud to be able to partner with and present some of the choice recordings in the D & D archives. Some of these recordings have been around for years but none of the master tapes or safety copies in some cases have ever been digitized until now. Dave and Donn taped many shows in and around the Seattle area in the 70's and also were contemporaries of some of the JEMS members. Volume 7 captures a radio broadcast they recorded of B.B. King. The recording is incomplete (it is also possible this was all that was broadcast) but what is captured is a real treat. B.B. King always put on a great show, the recording here is no different with inspired (as usual) guitar work.

Dave and Donn taped many shows in and around the Seattle area in the 70's and also were contemporaries of some of the JEMS members. Volume 8 captures B.B. King taped by Donn in Honolulu. This recording is excellent sounding and could easily be mistaken for a soundboard. Like usual B.B. puts on one hell of a show not to be missed by blues fans and fans of guitar playing in general.

The Rolling Stones: Frankfurt 1973 (VG Aud) FLAC

FrankfurtTape1973-FRONT
LINEAGE: Original "For Fans Only" (004) silvers -> WAV (EAC v0.99 prebeta 5 - secure, Offset "actual") -> FLAC (flacfrontend, level 6) -> You
DATE: Festhalle, Frankfurt, Germany
September 30th 1973 (2nd show)
QUALITY: Very Good Audience
PERFORMANCE: One of the finest 1973 performances, especially for Mick Taylor - he's on fire here

OU COMMENTS: This release from the "For Fans Only" label comes from a different source than the "known source" (which means the VGP release and the KRW_CO upload) !!
I was about to upload this bootleg, and say that the "For Fans Label" did some EQ work.....but while listening to this CD (and writing this info file), I realised that this is a completely different recording.
Some people find this "For Fans Only" bootleg of Frankfurt 1973 to be major upgrade of this show.
I've got to compare closer to be sure, myself - but for sure......this recording is smoking hot.
ARTWORK: Included. I have scanned everything, including the disc itself.

OU: This is a nice-sounding soundboard of Fire Down Under-era Riot. My CD is entitled "Feel The Fire" and features a bonus version of "Warrior" with Rhett Forrester on vocals as track 13. I removed this from my upload as I couldn't be sure that this wasn't on some live compilation or something (I'm also aware that there was a Rhett-era live album and I wasn't sure where that was from). Also, I can't confirm this as I don't have the CD case itself to hand, but I think the show was mislabelled as being from 1982.
I'm quite new to this, but spectral (using Adobe Soundbooth) and frequency (using Audacity) analysis indicates (to me, at least) that this is true lossless.

OU: The year 2000 saw a stripped back version of Prefab Sprout set out on their final tour in support of the "38 Carat Collection" compilation. The band played an extended set in two halves, reprising most of their favouites in excellent versions, culminating in two shows at the Dublin Olympia. They were to make only one more live appearance at the Fleadh Festival in London later that year.
This recording is tremendous. Nominally a crowd recording, though you'd be hard pushed to guess that, and fully replete with the wonderful music and the beard gags which became a feature of this tour. The tour programme used photographs of Paddy McAloon in the Jordan days, and so when a somewhat expanded bearded figure came onto the stage, many of the audience initially assumed he was part of a support act.

Geetarz (OU) Comments: Some things do get better with age, and the 2000 "CSNY2K" tour was a personal favorite. This, to me, is the cream of the crop, and one of my personal all-time favorite "Desert Island" discs.
The 2000 tour featured new takes on old classics, and somehow bridged the ages, bringing old and new into a harmonious, rocking whole.
The first years of the 21st Century were also a "golden age" of ALD recordings, before their alternate uses became more widely known and many venues shut the technology down. There are quite a number of ALDs from the CSNY2K tour - some of which, sadly, are still in the clutches of hoarders. This one, luckily, saw the light of day.
ALD recordings of course have their technical limitations, including reduced dynamic range, lack of bass, and attenuated high end. Luckily the Professor at 3BR was able to work his sonic magic on this recording, and really bring it to life.
If you're into vocal harmonies, loud crunchy guitar, and close-miked soundboards - this is sonic heaven.
Beyond recommended ... ESSENTIAL!

Lineage: ALD > DAT > 3BR > 3BR Master > EAC v. 0.99 Prebeta 5 (Secure, Offset Correct) > FLAC

'Remastering' information:
Main source: War & Roses, ES49
Source for tracks 8, 12: 'Treasures From The Vault'
Source for track 7: 'Rise Like The Rain'
Every track edited, in the beginning this was going to be a 3 cd set - I had originally 56 tracks (edited), but ended up using only these 14.
I tried to get the best possible sound quality but still include as much variation as possible - some tracks sound a bit worse.
This is just something I did every now and then when I got tired of editing the live shows.
------
" There were two outtakes from Born To Run: 'Linda Let Me Be The One' is on Tracks,
and there was another one called 'Walking in The Street' which I would have liked to have put on, but I couldn't find the master. We searched and searched. It might have been simply recorded over, because in those days, if something wasn't going to make it, you're going to need that tape so you recorded something else over the top.

Led Zeppelin: Raleigh 1970 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

D1T4 file fixed see end of post

4/8/70-Dorton Aud. Raleigh North Carolina
"World Champion Drummer" -EVSD
Lineage: Someone else's silvers>CDR>EAC test and copy(no errors)>WAV>flac
frontend encode level 6 and test>FLACS
Very enjoyable audience rec. IMO. EV achieved a nice full sound on this release of a great performance.
Art included.

Disc 1:
1-We're gonna Groove(cuts in)
2-Dazed & Confused
3-Heartbreaker
4-Bring it on Home (fixed below)
5-White Summer/Black Mountainside

Disc 2:
1-Since I've Been Loving You
2-Organ Solo
3-Thank You
4-What Is and What Should Never Be
5-Moby Dick

Here are G. Sparaco's notes from bootreview: Led Zeppelin's spring 1970 tour is bursting with confidence and swagger, probably riding a high from Led Zeppelin II 's reaching number one and causing much comment for knocking The Beatles' Abbey Road out of the number one spot on the charts. For such a strong tour there are very few very good tapes available. This tape has been released several times before as Fearsome Four Live On Stage (Mandala), Groove (Tarantura), We're Gonna Rock (Blimp) and American Accents (Baby Face). Two tracks, "Bring It On Home" and "organ solo/Thank You" were lifted from the Mandala release for the famous Cabala box set. It was a good and listenable tape which was very loud. "Bring It On Home,” sounded like a battle with Bonham's drums fighting Jimmy's guitar.
World Champion Drummer! is, compared to the Mandala release, a dramatic improvement in sound quality. I would rate the older versions a six at best. Empress Valley boosted the volume without any distortion to make this a solid nine and makes this arguably the finest document from this tour, and this concert definitely deserves such treatment. There are no negatives to this except that "How Many More Times" and "Whole Lotta Love" are still missing. After the opening number Plant says, "That was a thing called 'Groove' which we intend to do and we hope you as well, so get loose!" "White Summer" is played by the "pale Jimmy Page". "We've done things from Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin II, we'd like to do one thing from Led Zeppelin III" Plant explains before another early version of "Since I've Been Loving You", six months before the album's actual release. A girl in the audience shrieks and Plant responds: "Thank you, have a gargle." Bonham's drums still sound massive making both "Bring It On Home" and "Moby Dick" particularly effective.
Empress Valley and all the previous releases claim this is from April 7th in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was demonstrated several years ago through the discovery of ads and handbills that Zeppelin played in Charlotte on April 7th. The Raleigh show was the following night, April 8th. There is no mention of the location or venue on the tape, but this isn't the Charlotte show since an eyewitness to that show posted his observations on the Electric Magic website and they do not correspond with this tape. So it's definitely Raleigh but on April 8th instead of April 7th as posted on the artwork. Other than the date, everything else about this release is fantastic and is another EV release worth having. * Beginning of "Who'll Stop The Rain?" mixed with the (very bad) soundboard source.
** Very small skip in the beginning
------
OU: To keep people from asking:
Since this 'remaster' is from MarkP's master recording, this doesn't have the cuts every other release has.
'This Land Is Your Land' which was missing from other versions, is complete on this one.
'Twist & Shout' was missing half the song - it's complete on this one.
Only cut on this is in the beginning of "Who'll Stop The Rain?", which was on all the other version too. (Tried to fix it)
To sum it up, this is much better than all the old 'releases' of this legendary show.
--
'Editors' view: Probably the best show ever, definitely best Who'll Stop The Rain? he's ever played.
"Possibly the most emotional show of Bruce's career, this benefit show starts with an introduction by Bobby Mueller,
a disabled Vietnam veteran, and several band members reportedly had tears in their eyes when they started
'Who'll Stop the Rain?,' Credence Clearwater Revival's song about the Vietnam conflict.
Bruce himself was overcome with emotional during 'The River' and stopped singing at one point.
This show features the one and only performance of 'Ballad of Easy Rider.'" -theboots.net

"Only performance [ever] of Ballad Of Easy Rider.
This was a benefit for the Vietnam Veterans and features passionate versions of The River and Who'll Stop The Rain."

I am back from Nashville

fixing-comp_full

Hi Friends,
I am back from Nashville. Heard lots of great music even though I am not a big fan of country music.
I had a great time with my brother.
I will visit some of the problem files that you have mentioned in your comments. Stay tuned.
I will rollover the posts - once fixed - to the front page (that is after my wife fixes the antenna on the roof).

Dave

Pink Floyd: Holland Pop Festival '70 (G+ Aud) shn

Pink Floyd - 1970-06-28 - Stamping Ground - tray inside
Kralingse Bos (Holland Pop Festival '70)
Rotterdam, Netherlands
June 28, 1970
Source: Good to very good audience recording
Lineage: Original silver CDs -> EAC (V0.95 prebeta 4) -> wav -> mkw (V0.97 beta 1) -> shn
Bootleg Title: "Stamping Ground", Highland HL640/641
File Size: 525 MB (SHN)

Disc 1:
1. Astronomy Domine
2. Green Is The Colour
3. Careful With That Axe, Eugene
4. Tuning Time
5. Atom Heart Mother
Running Time: 49'39"
Disc 2:
1. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun
2. A Saucerful Of Secrets
3. Interstellar Overdrive
Running Time: 58'19"

OU Notes: This one is a brand-new release that I just received this week. Someone has been requesting this show about two months ago. So, here it is. The overall sound quality is very good. There are no cuts/bad edits I have noticed. The short drop out in AHM is already on my silvers (it isn't a digital one anyway). ASOS is probably from another source/higher generation, because it seems to have a speed problem (running too slow).
