OU Notes:
There's not much more that I hate more than large venues, and Merriweather Post Pavilion was certainly at the top of my list as one of the more loathsome venues I ever attended. Despite their claims to the contrary, the sound sucked. If you were close, you were blown away, and further back it sucked. On the lawn, forget it. In the few times I attended this hole, I always paid the money to sit in the Pavilion. It used to be a little more mellow, but in the late 70's, an outfit called Nederlander took over running the place. Surly security guards, no blankets, no umbrellas, no food or drink, no nothing, and no fun allowed!
This was the only time I saw Genesis, and it was likely near the end of their Prog era. I liked them as a Prog act, and hated them as a pop act, so it was lucky I saw them here. I had a good seat (Center Section, Row G, Seat 122), and it was pretty loud, which was likely better than being in the back, where the sound would suck. Very impressive performance, light show/effects. My ticket cost $8.50!!! I'm certain I'd have to add at least a hundred dollar bill to that ticket price today! Enjoy!

Eeklair's Notes: Well, this is probably the most near and dear to my heart recording of any band/artist/musician. I spent every waking hour July 25 and 26 of 1978 stalking the whereabouts of this band. Finding them often, bugging them for backstage passes - probably, and having them sign magazines and napkins and hanging around their hotel waiting to see them, etc... I was 15 and obsessed with the band. I'm 46 and not much has changed. The opportunity to stalk them has diminished, i have only the internet left to feed my insatiable appetite for all things genesis - rekindled now with the availability of this show!
This is a great recording. It's a pity it's only 1.0 - that is to say, a monoaural recording. Well, at least, IT WAS a mono recording... but no more!!!
First I EQ'ed it out of the depths of the mud in which it was stuck. Brigtened it up ALOT. This introduced a ton of hiss. You guessed it, I shaved off the top layer of hiss, and left the ambient hiss so as not to interfere with instruments and natural reverb and ambience... It's the eeklair way...
Next I re-indexed just about everything... Including fade ups and outs where appropriate.
I fixed the broken, "Say It's Alright, Joe," by using a patch of the 2nd verse.. Rather brilliant maneuver I thought..
Now then, Merriweather really does sound like sh*t between the front row and about 10th row, then from about row FF and back to the lawn. But there's that small window where the place really rocks! This tape was captured in that window. That said, it was a little dry. So I added stereo reverb to it to really expand the image. So in techie terms, i wet it down 24% against 100% of the original. Listening to a mono recording dry under headphones makes my head hurt...
That's about it. From a VG to an EX-... It now breathes... Crank it, it's a powerhouse.
Enjoy

Argentum Astrum: A really superb show from the 1975 Tour. The sound is great and the playing is excellent. Robert is in decent voice and the band is on a roll! No Quarter and Dazed And Confused are some of the best versions ever, and he opening numbers are really powerful. The earlier shows on the tour like the New York shows were long, but the marathons were generally played at 1973 length (No Quarter never exceeding twenty minutes, Dazed never exceeding thirty). In the west coast shows Zeppelin expands the numbers to where a thirty minute No Quarter and a forty-minute Dazed And Confused are routine. More highlights include something happening onstage after Bonham's drum solo, which causes Plant to start singing lines from Max Bygraves' "You're A Pink Toothbrush". This song is nothing more than Plant singing what appears to be a commercial jingle. It has only 10 seconds but it's funny!

Argentum Astrum: This show is one of the best from the 1975 tour. The entire show and length are impressive, but what makes this so memorable are the two epics. No Quarter is 30 minutes long and one of the best ever. But here, we have the second to last longest ever Dazed And Confused, clocking in at 45 minutes and it is the best one ever (the other one, clocks at 46, can be found on the last LA date, on March 27th). It moves through several sections and has many dynamic contrasts to keep it interesting throughout ... it doesn't seem like 45 minutes.

Pink Floyd: Detroit 1975 (Remastered VG Aud) shn

244031
Olympia Stadium - CSP remaster:
OU: More of a clean up job than anything but I decided to take the time to fix this real quick so I could listen to it properly, however it definitely needed more attention than I thought.
First off,the repeated sections ranging from one minute to 10 seconds were all fixed.I also found plenty of digi pops that were 99% removed.
I smoothed out the tape flips and glitches, along with toning down the microphone disturbances that were all over the place.Clearly the taper had some problems which may also be the reason why there was a cut on Dogs and account the high buzz in the 10k range that plagues part of this recording.Due to this very annoying factor,I debated whether or not to carefully notch this out or not, which doesn't disturb the recording that much. However,I decided to just leave it alone in case anyone would object to muffling it down a tad and hopefully the master or something closer will surface at some point.
In any case, I fixed the level problem on "Shine On" and properly faded out those tracks that needed to be.Lastly, everything was reindexed to make this flow better. Well,I think that's it. Enjoy.

Original Lyrics of Raving and Drooling (later "Sheep") and Gotta Be Crazy (later "Dogs")

Raving and Drooling
Raving and drooling I fell on his neck with a scream
He had a whole lotta terminal shock in his eyes
That's what you get for pretending the rest are not real

Babbling and snapping at far away flies
he will zig zag his way back though
memories of boredom and pain

How does it feel to be empty and angry and spaced

Split up the middle between the illusion of safety in numbers and the fist in your face

Gotta Be Crazy

You gotta be crazy, you gotta be mean
You gotta keep your kids and your car clean
You gotta keep climbing, you gotta keep fit
You gotta keep smiling, you gotta eat shit

You gotta be small to be a big shot
You gotta eat meat to stay at the top
You gotta be trusted, gotta tell lies
You gotta be able to narrow your eyes

You gotta believe they've gotta believe you
You gotta appear to be easy to see through
Gotta be sure you look good on the T.V.
Gotta resemble a human being

You gotta keep one eye over your shoulder
Gonna get harder as you get older
Gotta fly south and hide in the sand
Gotta forget that your gonna get cancer

And when you lose control, you'll reap
the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood
slows and turns to stone
And it's to late to loose the weight you
used to need to throw around
So have a good drown as you go down alone
Dragged down by the stone

Gotta be sure, you gotta be quick
Gotta divide the tame from the sick
Gotta keep some of us docile and fit
You gotta keep everyone buying this shit

They gotta get you started early
Processed by the time you're thirty
Work like f^ck till your sixty five
And then your time's your own until you die

I gotta admit to lot of confusion
Pain in the head is the child of collusion
Gotta resist the creeping malaise
You gotta believe in the way you get out of the maze
But you, you just keep on pretending
You can tell a sucker from a friend
But you still raise the knife to
stranger, lover, friend and foe alike.

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was sent out to play on his own
Who was raised on a diet of shame
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with bridle and bit
Who was given a seat in the stand
Who was forcing his way to the rails
Who was offered a place on the board
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone.

Following their legendary tour in the spring of 1973, Pink Floyd came back for a short tour that summer. ROIOs Into Little Pieces and Olympia, the latter mislabel as June 23rd in Detroit. On the whole the tape is very well recorded. The taper was close to the stage and captures the dynamic of the show and the band's unique sound system very well. Some of the louder passages produce distortion in the upper frequencies and there are occasional conversations and audience disturbances scattered throughout the
performance making people standing by the recorder to shout "sit down", similar to many 1977 tapes. There is a cut after "When You're In" which fades into "Set The
Controls." "Careful With That Axe, Eugene", which would routinely reach ten minutes, exists in only a four and a half minute fragment with most of the middle missing.
"Echoes", the final number of the first set, has a small cut at 15:01. During the second set there is tape disturbance for forty seconds in "Great Gig In The Sky"
and a tape flip at 5:42 in "Us & Them".
This show at The Sportatorium was originally scheduled for the amusement park Pirate's World in Dania but was switched at the last minute. They were joined on tour by the same female backing singers as the springtime but not with saxophonist
Dick Parry, who had prior commitments. The name of the replacement isn't known. The "Obscured By Clouds" and "When You're In" from the movie soundtrack is perhaps the band's greatest set opener.
The pastoral drone of the former is a perfect foil or the heavy metal tinged latter. "When You're In" contains a dramatic guitar solo by Gilmour. "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" is almost ruined by the audience shouting throughout the length of the song but it sounds like another very good version, as does "Careful With That Axe, Eugene". It's a shame it is so fragmentary on this tape. The audience calms down by the time the band reaches "Echoes". This version is very tight and Wright really gets into the seagull section. The audience reacts to the opening sound effects in the second set with police whistles and firecrackers
before the band crashes in with "Breathe". The tape effects are nicely recorded in "On The Run". The sax solo is kept to a minimum in "Money" with the weight of the song falling on Gilmour's solo.
The band jam for more than eight minutes in "Any Colour You Like" and is one of the longest recorded versions. The tape closes with a nine-minute version of "One Of These Days" played as the encore with shouts of enthusiasm from the audience. Dark Age is a good document worth investigating.

Artwork, Secure EAC Log and Flac fingerprints included. excellent audience recording very much worth the download.

Audience Recording
04 Nov. 1973, Rainbow Theatre, London, England
This is a very good audience recording, considering the time of the concert. Worth the purchase just for OBC/WYI. The person was obviously close to one of the quadrophonic speakers where the sound effects were coming out, because they are much clearer than the music.
The end of Us and Them and the beginning of Any Colour You Like are edited out.
Before OBC/WYI, the crowd seems to be screaming for "Echoes". You can hear Roger (or is it Rick) tuning up the bass many times throughout the concert.
Definitely recommended.

OU: This is one in a series of HUNDREDS of audios shows I'll be hopefully uploading here within the coming months. A little background is required:
Years ago when I was a newbie in the taping/trading arena at 19, a guy took mercy on me and offered me some very cool Sabbath bootlegs upon my first visit to his home. My pathetic hand-written list didn't phase him; he had a new contact that loved all things metal, like himself. Thus, a deep, long-lasting friendship was born and this wonderful guy and myself ended up trading thousands of tapes between 1990-95. He was very well-known in trading circles back in the day and had contacts all over the world. He and I recorded some amazing shows over the years, most of which are his masters from before we met.
Sadly, John McNicholas passed away in 1995 from heart failure at just 24-years of age. He lived a damn full life, albeit too short. He loved people, he loved trading, and he loved metal music. He taped everyone from Testament to Forbidden, Dark Angel to Coroner, Iron Maiden to Slayer to Death - you name it, he probably taped them. These Chicago shows are mostly uncirculated (at least his copies unless they were traded out and got into circulation). I have been sitting on these recordings for years for no other reason that, until yesterday, I had no means to upload these cassettes to my PC.
Some of these metal bands are rare and hopefully his legacy will live on through this board. The quality certainly varies from show to show and club to club, but all are untouched and left "as-is" for you to pass around at will. John never saw the advent of the internet and would no doubt have FREAKED OUT at how easily things are done today.
I sincerely hope you all enjoy these tapes - not a day goes by that I don't think of him, and these recordings will help keep him alive in some small fashion.
Cheers!

Alice Cooper: Cincinnati 1987 (Soundboard) FLAC

1985-32-1987
Cincinnati Gardens (Arena)
Cincinnati, OH
Mar. 6, 1987
Soundboard recording (possibly from FM broadcast?)

The Commish notes: I was going through some discs I had lying around and I stumbled upon this show that was sent to me a while back by my buddy, Jetrell69. I think this Cincinnati show had been on the tracker at one point in the past, but since it seems to have fallen off, I figured I'd upload it for anyone who doesn't already have it. I can't say I'm a big Alice Cooper fan, but I will say this: The sound quality on this is very good, so for that reason alone this is a good pickup for any Alice fans. The 10-minute version of "School's Out" is probably the highlight in my book.

OU Notes: I don't remember where i got this from but it is lossless. It is mentioned in the lineage that this is from a analog source, plus if you listen closely imo it sounds that at times the tape may have been degrading or having some other issues. Maybe a better sounding lossless copy exists...but I've never come across one.

Bob Marley: Studio Sessions 1979 (FLAC)

24200732-24200734-large
Survival Rehearsal
1979-XX-XX
cd>eac>flac
The Survival rehearsals tape was recorded in Kingston in 1979

the setlist of that tape is :
01-could you be loved false start , and take 1 8:16
02-survival (cut) -> zimbabwe 15:41
03-ride natty ride (incomplete ?) 8:14
04-revolution *see notes 5:37

Additional information: not very good sound, voice is clear anyways *revolution is a filler on that tape and is part of the uprising rehearsal very great tape ya can heard bob saying " cool style cool style " during could you be loved
notes... Seeded to EZT in September 2004, these tracks are for the people, as one listen to Ride Natty Ride will bring great joy. Jah guide you some more love, yes-I thanks He.
flaws...
t4 - revolution @ 5:37m, there's a 1s drop out.

+++
title: the Wounded lion session
year: 1979
Source: SBD > ? > Cx > ? > FLAC
Length: 46:40m
Size: 187 MiB FLAC

01-wounded lion in the jungle [22:05]
02-you talk too much [ 3:55]
03-babylon system [ 5:40]
04-babylon system(with false starts) (cut) [15:00]

here the comments about it from ras rojah (roger steffens): It's a great tape. The "wounded lion" clearly refers to his on-going struggle (two years old at least in '79) against the melanoma cancer that would eventually take his life in May of 1981. it also seems to refer to his ongoing struggle against Babylonian forces, urging "revolution now for sure."
that tape is probably part of the 1979 survival session despite the fact that the original cd was a bitch to rip, enjoy it - music is a passion not a competition.
notes:
This is part 2 of the Survival set seeded to EZT in September 2004. The sound quality is a bit better with these tracks, and the performance is amazingly delicate yet soulful, that experience you always wish to be around, you know, Bob and friends jamming. Bless those along the way, including Ras Rojah and the Family for securing these precious moments into history.
flaws:
Some hiss and a little hum.
t2 - You Talk Too Much @ 1:51m - R channel D.O. for 1s.
t4 - Babylon System @ 2:28m - subsecond D.O.

OU: Here it is my remastered version of this nice sounding pre-fm show. There was a lot of room for improvement so i did my best to achieve a sound more close to an official release. I've opened up the sound and pull out as much as possible all the transients.I like early u2 gigs. I think their music has to be punchy and clear.
That's the way i aimed my work.I think it sounds a LOT better now.
I hope you like it! cheers

Selena Gomez: Gramercy 2010 (VG Aud) wav

World Exclusive
COVER
Feb 11, NYC
source: audio rip from unknown amateur video
Source: By time I arrived at the Gramercy Theatre, there was already a long line of ticket holders slinking around the corner, even though it would be two hours until the doors opened. It was comfortable for January evening in NYC, after a fairly heavy snowfall the day before.
The theatre itself is small, with about 500 capacity. It was general admission. Many headed to the seating in the back, but a sizeable crowd gathered around the stage. The opening act was Days Difference.
When Selena and the band came onstage, the crowd was wild. Selena performed most of her first (and only) album. As always, she left out As A Blonde and I Got U, but on this night, she dropped Stop & Erase, to instead do a cover of Katy Perry's Hot N Cold. For the acoustic set, as usual, she did The Way I Loved You and a Backsteet Boys cover, I Want It That Way, with drummer Greg doubling up on vocals. She also did the Pilot song Magic.
This was only her seventh full performance. As evidenced from other shows, her voice lacks some consistency from show to show, but on this night, she was really on (perhaps it is the great New York air?)
The crowd started to get a bit rowdy towards the end of her set. First, someone tossed a bracelet to her, which she caught and put on. Then, someone tossed a necklace, which managed to land down her blouse.
It was a good show, and a rare oppurtunity to see her in a small venue. If she follows suit with her more established label mates, her next tour will be arena-sized shows.

Bob Dylan and Friends: Bobfest Rehearsals 1992 (Ex-) FLAC

Bobfest-Front-Outside
EAC Extraction From Original Silver Discs + 600dpi scans
Yellow Cat Records

“On October 16, 1992, an impressive and eclectic group of artists gathered at Madison Square Garden in New York City for the purpose of celebrating the music of Bob Dylan on the occasion of his 30th anniversary of recording. Warmly dubbed The Bobfest by participant Neil Young, the show was broadcast around the world and featured a cast of musical notables performing carefully chosen and often surprising selections from the incomparable Dylan songbook.”
“The Dylan performance on this set is minimal. Three takes of It Takes A Lot To Laugh. It's a nice set for historical documentation, and/or if you are a fan of Dylan covers, and/or the various artists appearing. There is a lot of down time between songs. It's not a set that will see frequency in your player. -BobBoots”

Geetarz Comments:
An excellent, close-miked soundboard, taken from FM broadcast. The broadcast was incomplete, and the tracks are out of order in relation to the set list for the evening.
This is the original Rocks/Rockdreams release, c. 1992. Packaged in a totally weird and annoying case that is the depth of a standard single jewel case, but the front flips open to the left and the back down and to the right, which is I guess specifically engineered to make you drop at least one CD every time you handle them if you're not careful.
For those of you young whippersnappers who don't know about the good 'ol early days of cd boots, the so-called "golden age" was in the early 1990s when the copyright laws of several countries - Luxembourg being one of them - allowed these CDs to be legally made, as long as a contribution was made to the artist. Whether or not the contributions were made, or accepted, is another matter. But back "in the day", before the intertubes changed everything, you'd get magazines like Goldmine, and in there you'd find cryptic ads with artist name, title, and price, so for this it would say "Eric Clapton - Caught in the Act - $50" and maybe if you were lucky they'd add something like "1987 soundboard" or something. No samples, no set list, no band list, no whining and can you just send your money and wait 6 to 8 weeks for delivery?
New 300DPI scans added since my old scanner sucked even harder than my new one, which is built into my Epson Ink Vending Machine (when are they gonna build a printer that just has a slot on the front that you stick $20 bills in?). Please note, the scans aren't cut off at the ends, because the ends are only 1/2 size since it's that weird flippy case.
Also included are scans of the silvers so you know you're getting the "real deal".
This is a hot show, I've always really enjoyed the '87 tour as EC seemed very invigorated by the new material, and new guitars and amps, and a new, stripped down band. The four-piece format made EC work a bit harder (which is a good thing).

LINEAGE: Silver > LiteOn iHAP322 (UL18 Firmware) > EAC v. 0.99 Prebeta 4 (Secure Mode, Calibrated Offset +6, 0) > FLAC (Level 6) > You !!!

No digital bits were harmed during the production of this torrent. No sweaters were dissed during the writing of this review.
Please note, there are several releases of this performance, some by the same name, and there are other performances also called "Caught in the Act", so please keep that in mind.
Artwork, checksums (ffp, MD5, ST5), and info file provided.
Enjoy!

Notes: Power Station rehearsals Vol. 4 commmonly known as the Soul To Soul Sessions. There maybe be a vol. 1 and 2 but as of this time they can not be located from this source. This maybe complete and just mislabeled but that information is currently unknown. This is the first of 8 90 minute tapes consisting of Volumes 3 through 10. These rehearsal tapes have been circulated for years on various bootlegs and low gen tape sets but this set should be an upgrade in sound quality to all existing copies. These recordings were done over a week or so period in March of 1985 at the old Power Station studios (currently named Avatar Studios) in Manhattan. All track titles and dates taken almost verbatim from the j-card with each cassette.
