The Pink Floyd Story: Which One's Pink? (.avi file)

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

Forty years after Britain's foremost 'underground' band released their debut album, Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Pink Floyd remain one of the biggest brand names and best-loved bands in the world. This film features extended archive, some of it rarely or never seen, alongside original interviews with the four surviving members of Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason, and traces the journey of a band that has only ever had five members, three of whom have lead the band at different stages of its evolution.

Extraordinary SQ on this recording. IMO, the SQ on this rates essentially the same as Animal Instincts RevB and the Master RtR but the type of sound is a bit different on each.

3. Dogs (17:28)

Disc 2 (70:13)

2. Have A Cigar (6:36)
3. Wish You Were Here (6:08)
4. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (6-9) (21:14)
5. Money (10:24)
6. Us And Them (7:39)
7. Careful With That Axe, Eugene (9:59)

Total Time 135:36

This concert has the distinction of being one of the best recorded from Pink Floyd's In The Flesh 1977 US tour. The clarity and balance makes it possible to hear every note played perfectly and even the giggles between Roger Waters and David Gilmour in "Have A Cigar". This show was released several years ago as Mr. Pig which utilizes (so it was claimed) the first generation reel-to-reel masters. Highland uses compression and heavy equalization to bring out the high end on the tape making everything louder.
Cannonball used a different tactic with this release. They didn't use the compression or any form of dressing up of the tape to make it sound much more natural and dynamic. The highs aren't as shrill as on the other one making it sound very nice. Furthermore the crowd reactions such as they are not as audible either. It could be that Cannonball has used the DAT clone of the master whereas Highland used the reel-to-reel copy of the master.
Whatever the case might be this tape is the best sounding from this particular Pink Floyd tour and is essential. The Oakland crowd were well behaved enough to not throw firecrackers and upset Roger (how many times did he yell at audiences during this tour?) Both Animals and Wish You Were Here are played perfectly. David Gilmour in particular is on fire here. Of particular note is his solo in "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" where he throws in some middle-eastern scales adding an exotic oriental feel to the piece. A unique event in a Pink Floyd concert!
To thank the well-behaved crowd the band reward the audience with the extra encore "Careful With That Axe Eugene", the only time the song was played during the tour and the final time ever by the full band. It's a short version and the scream isn't as blood curdling as in the past. It is however very nice to hear the mature band pulls out this early classic.

The Fixx: Boston 1982 (Pre-FM) FLAC

Here we have a really great early Pre-FM from The Fixx, an 80's band with NO equal in style and character.
The vinyl was cleaned and dusted manually by myself beforehand to minimize processing. I also didn't do any fade in/fade outs at either begining or end of sides....reason being, alot of people like the adverts for historical purposes....those who don't know how to use Adobe Audition or what not to remedy that for themselves...as the show is now it will fit on 1 CD-r. Aside from the processing I did above I touched NOTHING else. I wanted it to be as natural as the vinyl and possibly the original broadcast.
This is a very tight, high-energy show prominently featuring songs from the "Shuttered Room" album with some "Reach The Beach" thrown in as it was an upcoming album. VERY notable and favorite tunes for me are "Kingdom Christsake" which is a non-album track, "Cameras In Paris", "Lost Planes", & "Sinking Island". I love the entire set for sure as I am a Fix-fan (Fixxture) for sure.

Soundboard Recording
First Generation Reel to Reel > DAT > PCM > DAT [clone] > Sony DTC-A7 > SoundBlaster > Cool Edit Pro > wav > Soundforge (speed correction, several edits/patches, set fades) > CDWave (tracking) > Flac Frontend (level 7, align sector boundaries) > flac

New to circulation is a first generation transfer from the soundboard reels of this famous recording of the early Floyd. The common roio in circulation is the White Witch/Black Wizard, but this is taken from a lower generation recording, and sounds richer, fuller, and has less hiss. A speed correction was necessary however, as the recording runs quite slow. The excellent speed correction done by the WW/BW producer was used as reference for track timings, and ultimately a speed correction of 4.5% was utilized.

Robert Plant was exhausted that evening and you'll hear it in his comments. The band played for barely two hours (back when a 4 hour Led Zep show wasn't unusual). They did no encore. Pink Floyd: 8 MM (1972 - 1977) .wmv files

For this post think "amateur 8MM film (by people who were probably stoned) with better than average audio". A unique remembrance of Pink Floyd's years of superstardom but it is NOT proshot stuff. I could've posted this as a DVD but the quality really didn't warrant that. 2.0
Harvested Records (HRV DVD 009)
Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com
Notes from Harvested.org
I discovered most of these 8mm films over 20 years ago and have enjoyed watching my low gen VHS copies ever since. When I began archiving my collection onto DVD, I knew that one day I'd be faced with the task of digitally remastering these old 8mm films. I was fortunate enough to know the person that purchased the original films of the Hollywood Bowl and LA Sports Arena which were professionally transferred to S-VHS tape in the late 80's. This person was kind enough to loan me his master which I captured and used as the source for this DVD. I wish I could say that the Vienna footage was any better than what has been in circulation, but there's a good chance that those videos used mine as a source anyway. The short Anaheim 77 footage and the newly surfaced Munich 77 footage round this collection off nicely. There's not much available in regards to video footage from 1972-1977 (a very significant time in the band's history, especially in regards to live performance), so hopefully this will fill in a few of the gaps for the time being.
I replaced all the audio from the original footage that had live sound (LA 75, Vienna 77) and synched up the correct audio to the rest, which was never properly done until now.

Here's what Rolling Stone Magazine wrote back in 1993:
There is something desperately Messianic about Hothouse Flowers' third album, Songs From the Rain, as if the Irish rockers were straining to reach the same heavenly plain crossed by such holy men as Van Morrison and Bob Dylan. The album is so spiritually correct it squeaks. Thunderous with cheery...

Joe Walsh: In Concert 1986 (Pre-FM) FLAC

Westwood One Radio Networks
Show 86-09 for broadcast the week of May 12, 1986

The show consisted of five segments interupted with commercial ads and cheesey voice overs. I edited those out with fades. The vinyl was in excellent condition, but there were a few pops and clicks. GoldWave's pop/click filter was used to clean it up - that's it, nothing else.
I have not seen this show offered anywhere else. Sound quality is excellent. The banter in between songs is typical Joe, entertaining and funny at times. Joe plays an acoustic set first and then cranks it up and rocks the house.
Date and venue of the show is unknown. Obviously before it aired in May 1986. "The Confesser" album was released in 1985, so probably late 1985/early 1986.
The band lineup is also unknown (other than Joe Walsh on vocals/guitar/piano). The show fits on 1 CD. The track times on the inside cover are not accurate.

The Faces: That's All You Need 1973 (Soundboard) FLAC

fcover
Album name "That's All You Need"
Label: OH BOY - Silver Bootleg
A trademark of Disc Deluxe Sarl. Luxembourg
Catalogue number 1-9035
Band Personnel:
Rod Stewart Vocals
Kennie Jones Drums (The CD spelling - Not mine)
Ron Wood Guitar
Ian McLagan Organ Piano
Ron Lane Bass
As with most bootlegs the CD information can be misleading with mispellings, and other duff info etc. Sometimes tracks can be from different gigs, so you never know. Regardless of the aforementioned, this is a great recording of a great Faces performance.
Supposedly recorded in 1973.
Live concert recording in what sounds to be a small theatre.
My guess is that this is one their BBC "In Concert" appearances. If so, then probably taken from a BBC Transcription vinyl that were used in those days.(You can hear the odd quiet crackle) - but you can't be sure.

Seven Faces tracks and 6 Rod Stewart solo efforts.

Track Listing
1. Miss Judy's Farm 3:43
2. Too Bad 3:20
3. That's All You Need 7:39
4. Stay With Me 4:05
5. Memphis 4:13
6. True Blue 3:52 (Listed as Time Blue)
7. Twistin' The Night Away 4:23
8. I Don't Wanna Discuss It 11:08
9. Cut Across Shorty 5:50
10. Bad & Ruin 4:52
