Lone Justice: Record Plant Demos 1983-87 (Studio) FLAC

mckee_bbc1_f
Lone Justice was an incredible band and one of my favorite band from the 80's.
Source: ?/CD-R/WAV/remastered/CD-R/WAV/FLAC

Both Record Plant sessions have been remastered in Adobe Audition. The songs have been re-edited (to remove obvious tape/session changes). Background tape hiss has been removed and the volume adjusted.
Track 5 was very distorted on one channel... I've corrected this by reducing the volume on that channel, and then mixing the other channel into it - thus retaining some of the stereo mix.
Track 6 is a different take. Track 10 is cut. The 4 Maria solo tracks are unedited.

Michael Hedges: New York 1989 (FM) FLAC

HEDGES copy
Live @ Hungerthon '89, United Nations General Assembly Hall, NYC November 18, 1989 (FM Master)
Lineage: FM Broadcast on WNEW, NYC > Hi-Fi VHS Tape (Master) > CDR > FLAC Level 8 > You!

01 - Introduction
02 - Pinball Wizard
03 - Rickover's Dream
04 - Ritual Dance
05 - She Drives Me Crazy
06 - Aerial Boundaries
07 - The Rootwitch
08 - Woman Of The World
09 - Silent Anticipations

OU: Short, but sweet. Hedges did this 35 minute set opening for Crosby, Stills and Nash at the United Nations 1989 'Hungerthon' concert in New York. I originally recorded this WNEW FM broadcast onto a Hi-Fi VHS tape using a Hi-Fi VHS recorder. Sorry, but I don't remember the brand or model. I trasnferred the audio to .wav files and then burned them onto a CDR. Then
sometime around 2004, I converted the .wav files to .flac files and uploaded my very first torrent ever. I saved those original .flac files on a data disc and have extracted them now in order to make this new torrent which I present here. It's a great sounding recording, but I did notice some distortion. I think the original recording onto the VHS tape was too loud and caused some distortion. But it's not too bad and the music still sounds great. It's only about 35 minutes, but it's still a bit more live Michael Hedges music to enjoy and remember him by. This set starts with Michael's cover of The Who's classic song, 'Pinball Wizard'. He also played a uniquely Hedges cover version of the Fine Young Canibals' song, 'She Drives Me Crazy'. Hope you Michael Hedges fans enjoy this one. There's more great Michael Hedges music from my tape transfers to come...so stayed tuned! Thanks, Rob

Jimi Hendrix: Madison 1970 (VG Aud) FLAC

(better) 3rd Source
DAN700502-HB
Dane County Memorial Coliseum, Madison, WI - May 2, 1970
3rd source (audience)

Unknown generation, unknown lineage, but definitely an upgrade to the two other known sources. The tape starts halfway Fire, and Loverman (after Hear my Train Comin) is missing.
This was borrowed from Crosstown Torrents and is a wonderful capture. If you've heard the first two sources, the impression is one of a laid back show, and echoey sound. This was recorded closer to the stage, everything is clear including vocals, right up front--and it's ferocious. It picks up just before the break in "Fire" and he really tears into it. Thank you to the taper, uploader and all involved. Yipes! Nothing official, nothing on tracker...

Disc One
01. Fire (incomplete)
02. Room Full Of Mirrors

05. Message To Love
06. Ezy Rider

Disc Two

02. Star Spangled Banner

Duran Duran: Chicago 1997 (FM) FLAC

Comiskey Park, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 13th December, 1997
[a.k.a. 'VH1's Ultimate Office Party']
Lineage: CD-R obtained in trade years ago, verified lossless via Spectro.

Sound: Excellent Broadcast.
Comments: Crystal clear sound! It's a shame that there are only 8 songs. I remember watching this on VH1 back in '97. Strange times for DD, but I still love the Medazzaland album.

OU NOTES: A much better sounding stereo audience sourced upgrade to the previous mono one, kindly seeded on Dime a while back. Again, I have had to patch the first few seconds of 'Where Were You Hiding' with the mono source as it was missing on this source. The good news is that it's literally the first D chord that Sharp plays! then it's straight into the stereo source. Thanks to 'nigelw69' - still loads of great stuff to do. In the meantime if anybody else has some stuff please let us know. DO NOT SELL THIS RECORDING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS A FAN'S RECORDING FOR FANS ONLY! SUPPORT THE ARTIST AND ONLY BUY OFFICIAL MUSIC.

Lou Reed: Chicago 1978 (Soundboard) FLAC

lou_chi78_Front
VENUE Park West
CITY Chicago, IL
DATE April 14, 1978
SOURCE Probably Pre-FM or SBD (8 tracks) and FM (1 track)
4-Eyed Freak workshop
Artwork: Included

01 - Gimmie Gimmie Some Good Times 2:49
02 - Satellite of Love 6:06
03 - Leave Me Alone 9:38
04 - Walk on the Wild Side 6:25
05 - Coney Island Baby 11:16
06 - Dirt 8:43 *
07 - Street Hassle 10:47
08 - Sweet Jane 4:58
09 - Rock 'n Roll 6:09
Total duration: 66:54
* FM sourced

LineUp (as introduced at the beginning of "Street Hassle"):
Lou Reed - guitar, bass, piano, vocals
Stuart Heinrich - guitar
Michael Fonfara - keyboards
Marty Fogel - saxophone
Ellard "Moose" Boles - bass
Michael Suchorsky - drums
Angela Howard, Chrissy Faith - background vocals

Lineage: Tracks 6: FM (Onkyo TX8511) > SoundBlaster (Live! 24 bit External) > WAV (CD Wave Editor @ 16bit) > flac > WAV > Level adjusted and Equalisation
Other tracks, most probably: Soundboard or Pre-FM > ??? > SHN > WAV > Channel balanced (+2.1dB on left channel)
Then: Retracking > SBE fixed (SHNTools) > FLAC (TLH)

OU Notes: Two versions of this show are already circulating. The first one with unknown lineage is most probably pre-FM sourced as shown by the frequency analysis. It doesn't include "Dirt". The second version is coming from the recent XRT rebroadcast, it includes " Dirt" but omits "Street Hassle".
Sound quality-wise, my personal preference goes to the first version so that's the one i took as a basis. However, the level between the two channels was quite different. The left channel was boosted by 2.1dB so that they are now balanced.
"Dirt" from the FM capture was reworked so that it sounds as close as possible to the pre-FM version. Its RMS level was adjusted so that it matches with the overall level of the pre-FM version and it sounded more trebbley so it was slightly equalised accordingly. Then it was smoothly reinserted between "Coney Island Baby" and "Street Hassle", where it probably belongs according to most concert setlists in that period.
I also added the last three seconds taken from the FM version (Lou thanking the audience) that were missing at the end of pre-FM's "Rock 'n Roll" to make this new version as complete as possible.
The artwork shamelessly downloaded from http://www.badreputation.de/ was updated to display the new setlist.

NEVER FOR SALE! If you see this on e-Bay, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY REPORT IT at http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/bootlegs.html#
Please NEVER DISTRIBUTE LOSSY COPIES! Please TRADE FREELY on the lists. The flac files decode to the original reworked wav files. For preservation of quality, please share the same way. Please always join this COMPLETE and UNEDITED info text file to the copies you will offer.

Nico: Reims 1974 (FM + Aud) FLAC

Copy of Nico-Reims Cathedral 1974-12-13-Folded Front
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims, Place du Cardinal-Luçon, Reims, France
December 13, 1974 - Opening for Tangerine Dream

Compiled from a French FM radio broadcast* and an audience recording^ Sources combined where possible)(
Occasional editing was used to smooth tape pauses and to remove all Francophone radio host commentary

1. Janitor of Lunacy (4:21) ^ )(
2. The Falconer (5:38) )(
3. Valley of the Kings (3:29) )(
4. The End (The Doors) (9:32) )(
5. Abschied (3:05) *
6. Mütterlein (4:26) ^
7. Frozen Warnings (4:44) ^
8. You Forget to Answer (4:49) ^
9. We’ve Got the Gold (4:50) ^
10. No One is There (4:04) ^
11. Ari’s Song (Encore) (3:09) ^

OU: I've included some decent cover art in a separate file folder with a few nice Nico photos from around this time period, along with a few interior shots of the Reims Cathedral to give you an idea of this performance space.
I've also included a scan of a ticket stub from this show, which I believe I somehow got from this upload of the Tangerine Dream show.
I also included an amusing excerpt from an article about the show from a Circus Magazine from 1975.

Known Lineage FM Broadcast : FM French radio broadcast > unknown generation cassette > CDR > Wavelab 4.01 Remastering > WAV > FLAC8
Known Lineage Audience recording : Master Cassette from the taper > CDR > Wavelab 4.01 > WAV > FLAC8
Details: Basically I was given two rare recordings of this concert and this is a compilation and a combined version of both of these shows removing the French DJ commentary that was present on the FM broadcast version.
The FM broadcast portion although from an official radio broadcast and of much better quality, does not seem to accurately convey the magnitude and ambience of this extraordinary venue, which is amply evident in the audience version of this recording.
I found that by combining the two together, you get the best of both. Unfortunately this was only possible for about 1/3 of the show as the FM broadcast was quite short.
The audience recording was pitch matched to the FM Broadcast version, which is very close to Nico's performance on the official June 1, 1974 CD. The Indian harmonium she used was not a perfectly tuned instrument and so digital analysis is not an accurate reference.
The audience portion aside from the pitch correction is untouched, but the FM broadcast portion required some mid range compression to reduce giant volume spikes in Nico's vocals. There was a fair amount of hiss present as well that was removed
as this is more than compensated by the ambience of the audience recording which had plenty of nice high end frequencies.
A widening of the stereo separation was also applied to match the audience recording and because it sounded better in my opinion.
The first two minutes of Janitor of Lunacy is missing from the FM broadcast, so it begins with only the audience recording.
The beginning few bars of Abschied was subbed from a show at the Squat Theatre in 1980 to assist in the removal of the DJ dialogue. Oddly this song was missing from the more complete audience recording, likely due to a tape flip.
The remainder of the show is only the audience version and is not present in the broadcast without dialogue on top.
Also of note is the rare encore of Ari's Song. This may be the only recorded live performance of this classic from the Marble Index record.
A number of liberties were taken to simulate transitions between tracks as the audience taper shut his recorder off between every song. Infinitely preferable to the jarring Francophone DJ interruptions.
If anyone has the pre-FM broadcast tapes, please contact me and I would be thrilled to upgrade this further.
Enjoy !

OU Comments: One of those rare hot summer nights for the Pink Floyd. Echoes is jazzy, even funky a bit at the beginning too. Dave laughs but doesn't screw up.
Performance wise this is easily in the top 3 for 1975, and soundwise it's up there with Boston and the rest (maybe not quite L.A.). So this might just be your best bet for a good 75 show. Dark Side is well performed too. A beauty from 1975

Pink Floyd: London 1981 (VG- Aud) FLAC

wall2
Venue: June 15th, 1981 – Earls Court Exhibition Hall, London, UK.

Notes: The third performance (with 5 being played in London) of the June European tour in 1981, promoting the album "The Wall".
Pretty good quality recording from an unknown generation tape, recorded on tape, labeled by convention as the Recorder second sound is clear, slightly muffled, in some places slightly undulating. In addition, there is no significant interference. Pretty loud, but not burdensome audience.
Write performance is not complete. Missing the first part of the opening intro MC and the initial part of the song "In The Flesh?".
Parties maintained the continuity of the recording. Segmentation system compatible with the tape recordings of source (by using 90-minute tapes), but inconsistent with the actual course of the concert.
Material is not indexed.

Audience recorder 2. From unknown generation audience tape. A2 Cass [?]>CDR>WAV>SHN.
Show identification (Roger Waters before "Run Like Hell”): Thank you very much! Do you like our pig? He obviously doesn't like someone over there. So in an audience this size there are bound to be a few outsiders. Are there any paranoids in the audience tonight? Is there anyone who worries about things? Pathetic! If we spend too much time worrying about things we won't get on! Together we can rule Earl's Court. Anyway, for those few of you who are undiscovered here, this one's called 'Run Like Hell.' This one we can all clap our hands to! Not yet, wait for it.

Label: Sigma - 10
Matrix Disc 1: SIGMA 10 DISC 1
Matrix Disc 2: SIGMA 10 DISC 2
(P) 2008 Made In Japan Promotional Use Only - Not For Sale

More Infos from Collectors Music Reviews: Charade represents the first silver release of the complete February 25th, 1977 Pavillion de Paris show on Pink Floyd’s Animals tour.
Three previous silver titles released in the nineties featured the second half of the show, the songs from Wish You Were Here.
Shine On (Black Cat Records BC 25) released in 1992 from Australia ran about 5% too fast and was sourced from a high generation copy of the tape.
Live Volume 2 (Joker Productions JOK-013-B) is another Australian release that is probably a remaster of Shine On.
“Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5)” fades out early and there are gaps between the songs, but has been described by collectors as “listenable.”
Finally Paris 1977 (The Screaming Abdabs 091-014) is another release of the second half of the show on silver with the same issues as the others.
In the ensuing decade a lower generation copy of the show surfaced that offers the first half of the show and improved sound quality but missing “Have A Cigar” and “Wish You Were Here.” Charade uses an alternate tape to fill in the gaps
to complete the show.
The sound quality is very good and clear with the emphasis on the higher frequencies.
It lacks the dynamic live sound and bottom end of Funhouse on Siréne, which documents the opening show from this set. It does however capture the same spooky atmosphere. The Parisian audiences were much more quiet and respectful to the musicians.
The American shows the following summer would be a different story with many good tapes ruined by drunken morons yelling over the tape.
There are minor distortion issues and slight channel drops during the first half of “Sheep,” but the tape clears up nicely and the rest of the Animals material is excellently recorded.
At this point Floyd had been touring for a month with the new material and already developed a tight presentation.
The tape captures very well the Psalm 23 section of the first song which on many tapes is buried in the mix.
“Dogs” has a tremendous about of bite (no pun intended) and the audience like the barking dogs in the middle.
“Pigs (Three Different Ones)” builds to a tremendous climax. At 11:57 Waters shouts out “SIX….ONE” to indicate this is the sixteenth show of the world tour.
Of all the songs in the set, this one is the most recently written and one gets the impression that, as Gilmour is spitting out these angry metallic riffs, that the audience is sitting there with mouths open in astonishment.
The second half of the show featuring the Wish You Were Here material is more well known.
The sound becomes slightly more fuzzy during “Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts 1-5,” but the playing again is very aggressive and Dick Parry’s saxophone squeaks a bit.
What is somewhat noticable in the first half, but becomes more apparent in the second is that this is definitely a David Gilmour concert.
Despite the show being tightly choreographed to fit the visuals on the screen, Gilmour takes every opportunity to produce unique solos, riffs, and throwaway riffs to make this show all his own.
Charade is packaged in a double slimline jewel case with dull finish paper inserts, limited to two hundred copies.

Elvis Presley: Las Vegas 1973 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

CD 1
The Straight Arrow label releases the double CD, Before Darkness Falls, recorded, Sunday, August 26, 1973 Dinner and Midnight Shows, [audience recordings] Las Vegas Hilton, Las Vegas, NV.
Elvis' 1973 'Summer Festival' was his ninth month-long stand in Las Vegas since July-August 1969. Reviews noted his excess weight and half-hearted performances. But, despite bad press, health issues and a 1967 marriage that would soon end in divorce, Presley slowly warmed to his always-thrilled fans.
The songs here, from his Sunday shows on August 26th, 1973, are a good example of this warmth. At both shows Elvis welcomed the presence of Lisa, his beloved daughter, then just five and-a-half years old. Obviously, she provided additional inspiration for her dad. In fact, there are several rare highlights, including 'A Big Hunk O' Love', 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', 'Release Me' and 'How Great Thou Art'. And for fans of legendary bass player Emory Gordy, Jr., these would be among the last dates he would ever do with Presley.
Both the Dinner and Midnight sets are taken from a 24-bit digital transfer of the first-generation copy of a privately-recorded 120-minute cassette. The sound was painstakingly restored for your listening pleasure.
The August 26th, 1973 Dinner show is previously unissued, while the Midnight show was released in substandard mono by Memory Records in 2002 ('Caught In The Act'). Straight Arrow presents both shows in superb, 'two-mike live ambience' stereo sound. Like its predecessors from Straight Arrow Special Products mini series, this new release will be presented in a beautiful digipack with all the necessary information as well as a collection of photos taken during the September 1st, 1973 dinner show.

OU: I got this recently. I don't know the generation - sounds like 2nd or 3rd. It's got a little hiss, however it's a pretty good recording. The sound is full and detailed. This isn't one of the normal 1973 shows that floats around, so hopefully this fills a gap in some collections. I'd love to find the master on this one. Anyone?
